  1. Well I just heard back from kimfortkamper. They said not one of theirs. So now I am thinking Bunkhouse. Next trick is to email Outdooroutfitters and see if he has a clue. There is a name plate on the ladder that says aircamp that comes up blank on a search. Back to square one.
  2. It would be an old KomfortKamp Not a mini mate but what proceeded the mini mate. I would but a Mini mate in a heartbeat after seeing the quality of this one. I have a coleman Instant Tent 9X10 to use as a living room/ spare bedroom. With the new style Queen air bed. Baffled. However if I had a mini mate I would not even bring that maybe just a screen tend. I may add a Shower stall to this one just to use as a Dressing room. I like swift silent and deadly. Carry what you are going to use kind of a thing. Most on the market now have too many things going on. I want stop. Sleep, BS at the fire. I am not bringing a Trailer along to entertain a group which some of these can with awnings and front rooms. I am at 350 loaded with this one. Digital scale. I think thats about all a 2nd gen can really handle. I am about to send them pictures of it to see if they made it.. The history of the company matches up to the story on the trailer. Pic coming.
  3. I think I've solved my own mystery. http://www.kompactkamptrailers.com Its a kompackamp.... Near as I can figure an old mini mate. It all matches up. They are out of PA too. Which I would highly suggest of all the lightweights in the field. I can't believe the quality of this thing.
  4. Well, I found the hub caps, someone had some money. http://www.openroadoutfitters.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65_112
  5. All I know is this is about a 1997 It has a Home made trailer title with no make name on it. It's not home made thats just how they titled it in PA, Ohio is about the same. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/20140805_031246_zpsigwd7nh5.jpg What is it? Bunkhouse? http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/20140805_180630_zpsb6devwaf.jpg It had these hub caps on wide rimes and tires that stick out further than the Plastic Fenders. More hints, The tongue has a slight gooseneck type dip to it. Two holes where cooler rack WAS. Tongue also has leveling jack that recesses into it. The Safety chains are so small they will break if disconnected as if to say. We wanted that! LOL It has a naugahyde Bra on front of trailer and the cover is the same. Torsion suspension. Fiberglass construction full box welded frame. 5 Wire light set up. 20 second from kickstand to fully deployed. Nice old lights. Trunk under bunk FLAT FLOOR Outdoor Blue carpet. Spare tire Bolt hangs under Frame at Center rear. No name plate on it that I can find anywhere. Only a PA Special plate for the PA title. Amazingly it almost looks brand new. It was stored inside always he said. Not even a tad of mildew. he said PO only took it to NY one summer with his wing thats it. He never did use it, wife said no way. I need a cooler rack and some new tires, and maybe do the maintenance on the suspension and bearings. Towed it home 150 miles at 70 everything was cool. HELP!
  6. Alignment, Tires, Tire or shock Air pressures, Wheel bearings. Steering head bearings, Worn Bushings anywhere . Mis loaded, all come to mind. But mine does nothing at any speed hands free! Buy it, its not unsafe, just needs tuned. BTW my steering head retainer nut was loose from the factory. I got a shake at 15K miles and could not figure it out When I went to tighten the Steering Head nut, the retainer nut was about to come off, good thing the handlebar was in the way and kept it on. Once I snugged that down problem is solved.
  7. That's going to be a tough find. Post it up if you find a set that meets the specs.
  8. And I would add that "Automatic" may have some different meanings. I used a Automatic charger on my Xterra and toasted a battery in like 5 years. Luckily Autozone gave me a new one beyond the warranty. I only drive the X like maybe twice a month. I am going to put a MC maintainer on it and plug it into the circuit the shop lights are on. That way it only gets a dose when the lights are on, which is enough I figure, Since I got my TAN from the SHOP LIGHTS while working on my bikes!
  9. LOL I just bought a Tag Along, Did an amazing lighting Job on it, It tows amazing. I took it down Sr 144 in PA from top to bottom it never wavered. (And I was hitting it hard) BUT! I think the trailer thing is more of a Leave it and ride and come back deal. I ride more along the lines of go and keep going on new roads and try to never ride the same road twice. SO, I was looking for more storage and weight capacity. SO I can bring what I need with just the bike. Do love the trailer though. It has a place in my riding. Maybe I can mount the flamed bags double up on the outside of the ones I have and install a Gold Wing Shock on the rear?
  10. Did that, solid no way. The first bike I bought from him is the last. I can drive to http://www.schroaders.com/ and get something. I don't even like the Honda dealer in town here either. Dude has dogs running all over the showroom and kind of looks like he lives in the place. The HD dealer same thing. I paid cash for my New Roadstar and my Venture and I think they make money off loaning so they don't want to deal with me. I have a lot going on, Im single, I do everything here, so it would have been nice to get down to one bike. Maybe see what the 2014 Venture looks like. Then go buy it out of town and ride it to the dealership.
  11. I am STILL working on the Engine light coming on problem. THINK its the TPS but anyhow was in the dealer and there sat two 2008 Goldwings. One was the aaaahhhok model and one was the Fully loaded version. Same miles, same price. So I ask them if they would take both my 08 Venture and the 07 Roadstar Midnight Silverado Ultrastar in on a trade. Yep, but only on the aaaahhhok model. plus 5K. Thats giving me 7.5K on the Venture and 3.5 on the Roadstar. Yet near as I can figure they were asking only 3K less that the Goldwing went for new. I've added about 5K in crap on the Roadstar. I could part both bikes out on e bay for more. WOW, bikes are a bad investment. Unless you are a dealer selling them. I guess back to work, would have been nice to get down to one bike. Sorta.
  12. I have had 2.5 sets of same tire and they all have done that to me, brand new fresh tires, I normally change tires every three months so it was not an old tire issue. First time Rear Started to crack, So I just replaced it. Then front started, I tried to contact them and no answers, going on a Trip so again at my expense I took off a new Tire and put a match back on since thats what I had on the rear. Upon returning from trip, both were cracked. Dealer gave me a new set. They cracked. Avon contacted me a month later and said you mistakenly got Avon Australia and we were on Vacation. ???? So I seen them at the Bike show and they would not talk to me once they heard the problem. They kept running away. I just bought some leftovers off a trike conversion. Guess what was on the rear? A New Avon, yes it has small cracks but looks like it might run out. I don't like that Brand period.
  13. Nice Job Son! Looks like a movie I will have to catch. LOL Maybe do some canvassing at the exit. LOL
  14. They normally just run both directions through one tunnel. So you would still be able to pass. They said a few days. Whats the chance that would happen? A fire on a truck right in the tunnel. like dude, why did you stop IN the tunnel!.
  15. Yea that works perfectly. Wish I had a video even in the daytime I can see my lights on the side. I used a terminal block so I can easily switch it to a four wire if I have to. Used all LED lights. 400 miles test complete.
  16. If you use synthetic, a Mobile 1 110 works. its $12 about I am always overkill but you can do a search and come up with many. I don't buy cheapo stuff, As i said i have the K&P permanent oil filter. S 1 I have been know to buy a bag of kitty litter and change oil in a Parking lot, no filter needed. I think I am too hard Core for normal riders. But Im glad im not normal.
  17. Dino will do, but sythetic will do more than twice as much. If you can read the White pages the proof is there. I had a serious problem with my Roadstar and went through two years of engine oil analysis diagnosing a problem all covered by Yamaha (It was an intake leak) the differences in what oil you put in is significant. BUT you may never get to test the oil, like run it longer or have a cooling problem, its when something happens that the extra protection is realized. And its always going to happen on a trip. Most all my riding is on long trips. I don't take chances. I know that if two Ventures same year same miles roughly were to fill with oil, add none and go until they blow, the synthetic one would always outlast the Dino. But if you jump around town and like to change oil, Dino would surely be your best bet cost wise. I have not used Dino in anything since at least 1980 Not even the Cub Cadet.
  18. Good thing we don't even come close to half as many degrees. I would not want either in the motor.
  19. You can do either. switching back and forth won't harm anything. To reduce service interval and be more cost effective go with synthetic. You can't beat Amsoil for your bike. You can run it twice as long as what the OM suggests. No other oil will preform better. Watch this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSnKTpGt1k0 AT one time Mobile 1 Motorcycle oil came very close in an independent lab study, a few years later a White page independent Lab study showed that Mobile one did worse than the previous test and Amsoil improved. You can study up on those white pages by doing a search and read the PDF. I use Amsoil. And I leave it in as long as they suggest. Often more. In any case synthetic is always better when the oil is tested for further service at the end. Dino Oil can break down as fast as after the first ride. Seriously! http://www.westcoastsynthetic-oil.com/Amsoil-2009-motorcycle-white-paper.htm A small amount of oil does remain when you change it, so the only real important this is to stick with the same viscosity through the change. Don't put 10 W 40 in and add 10 W 50 to it. So you are good to go. Put almost enough in and bring it up to where it should be. Because you never know what was left in there. I also use an K&P engineering S 1 oil filter, You buy one ONCE it filters better and it's Green! When I bought the Venture I took it off the Roadstar to use. When I got the Roadstar going again, I went out and bought another K&P for it! It just didn't rev right without it on. And it runs cooler too. This concludes my opinion based on actual facts with links. LOL
  20. The Iron Butt web site or discussion forums may be a place to look into I know they have a set of guidelines and even some suggestions on Aux Tanks as well as rules for a tank to be qualified to be used in an Iron Butt event. They probably have more experience than anyone else with such a thing and on a wide range of Bikes. Serious points can be lost if you don't make the next checkpoint in time. Poke around their site you will find the section on tanks.
  21. Lots of good brainstorming going on here. I think he just saved us a lot of money.
  22. I don't recall the size of the bolts the hold Carbon One's receiver on, but not that big, so there is not a lot of force on this hitch to even be worried about. However, I want a pivot point so as not to totally twist and trash everything the receiver is hooked to should the bike tip over. I have already crafted a special .....About tip over proof Camping style Kick stand pad of which one Lucky vendor here has gotten the first one by now. (I made 12) Its about the size of a dinner place made out of Cutting board. LOL Anyways. Like to have something on this before my next trip. I have not dropped a bike in an awful long time so that means I am overdue. Ha ha! I have even been wearing all my gear more frequently as I have not crashed in 100.000 miles of riding, so I am overdue there also.
  23. I would have offered them 1500 for it and kept it for parts at least or made something radical out of it. If the frame is bent it is toast. But some dude out in California has a machine the straightens them, saw it on TV.
  24. GOT my $12 Worth! The rest of the year is FREE! Whooo!
