  1. Here's a part breakdown. Find the p/n, google it. You'll find what you are looking for. https://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042476f8700209bc787e2b/radiator-hose or the Master Part Breakdown https://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/l/yam/50042475f8700209bc787e25/1983-xvz12tk-parts
  2. I agree with Cowpuc, and he is one of the master mechanics of these machines, rides them to 250k miles before retiring them. But personally I would still simply top off radiator, fire up, and watch as it gets hot. The cap is easy to get at, and I'm not sure the overfill will be enough to get you started. Next I would pressure test, Autozone rents these simple kits. My extreme limited mechanical knowledge has me thinking a stuck thermostat and the system built up pressure. But in reality, it could be as simple as a split in a hose.
  3. Pull the plastics and have a look see . An 83 like mine as well, the question really is: What hose or seal didn't blow . Mine is very temperamental in the cold, the couple times I've had it out below 45, the thermostat housing oring leaked.
  4. I put a glass one on like the one above. Love it, picked it up at ORielys.
  5. Now that it has cooled, I would rinse off with water, let dry, fire it up, and detect where the leak is coming from. If all coolant gone, I would add distilled water or coolant first.
  6. Great video Patch.
  7. Around here the USPS trucks are out on Sundays delivering Amazon packages.
  8. Ya, great video. Too bad the moose didn't figure it out, get the wolf into deeper water, then kick the snot out of him.
  9. That is what I was thinking. You like water, take up swimming, awesome exercises. To many people break wrist bones on roller / ice skates, especially us taller ones. Dr., certainly am not. Might have just been a moment of shock, possible a slight concussion? If you don't feel right, have it checked. You've had other quirky things going on as of late.
  10. You OBVIOUSLY didn't have the Midwest rust to deal with. I had to air chisel mine off.
  11. Well I have a 2005 GMC YukonXL with the 5.3, 160k miles, still running fine, very little cost of ownership. Mine is currently starting to put a drip out of rear main seal, nothing major. The 5.3 and 4 speed transmission is a tad sluggish pulling my Travel Trailer, but does ok otherwise. I do like the ride I get with the YukonXL. 290k is nearing the end of it's useful life for sure. For the most part, easy to wrench on as well. I just did wheel bearing/hubs, kinda a pita.
  12. Wow, scary stuff. Blessing that you were there and acted promptly. Cheers to a healthy recovery.
  13. If you log into your Google or Yahoo account for the emails, that is the connection.
  14. maybe sometimes, but just recently I was looking at Cruises in private, being it's our 30 anniversary this year, I was incognito on Google, and sure as ****, Cruise ads galore on her Facebook account. I trust them zero..
  15. Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc.. all own everything we look at. How much do you pay to use Google, or YouTube? I can be on my Desktop computer as I am now, Later go downstairs get on the iPad, wife has Facebook that I occasionally browse, and ads of stuff I look at on my computer show up on her Facebook account. They are looking at everything going through my router, 100%. Think about that when doing online banking at bill paying. A friend and his wife opened Google on his cellphone, and nothing else. Nothing. They had a detailed discussion about cats, food, etc etc. They hate cats (just sayin). He started getting ads for cat food etc on his phone. Mind you he did nothing but opened Google, did not surf, did not hit the microphone button. Personally, I think most of this technology is the mastermind of the evil one. Patch: You would be floored what people post on Facebook. Vacations, selfies in front of mirrors in bathrooms, even adults. It's unreal.
  16. I've never bled the way the manual says to on my 83 (never read into it tho) ?? I'm like you, bleed it as sits on the bike. If you were to take it off and rotate it up 1.5 inches, I would slide a shim in between the pads. If it compresses too much, the piston is rather simple to compress with a 'c' clamp, even a large pair of channel lock pliers. Seems I started with the proportioning valve, front, than rear.
  17. I'd probably use the yellow teflon tape that is for gas applications.
  18. Wondering what ya'lls thoughts are of BiG Brother in Washington I signed up for this cool daily email from the US Postal Service. Turns out, every piece of standard mail in the USA is scanned and stored on servers (thanks to terrorists). You can get a daily email of the mail and packages you can expect, typically that day. It's fairly accurate, a little less with packages over the holidays. BUT, Big Brothers in Washington know EVERY piece of mail you get daily. Not that I have anything to hide, but isn't that a bit disturbing. https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Informed-Delivery-The-Basics
  19. Depends on what you want or need to do on the computer. If just general surfing, banking, and email, I would buy a Chromebook. That said, I have Windows 10, it is intrusive, but what isn't. EVERY single thing you do on the computer is run through apps like Facebook, Chrome, whatever is on your machine. Big Brother knows EVERY single thing you look at. (Unless you are fairly computer savvy and block the stuff).
  20. Many people in the USA find used parts off Ebay, or this used supplier called Pinwall. https://pinwallcycle.com/index.php You might look at a parts diagram, you might be missing a washer or spacer? https://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/c/yamaha_motorcycle_1992/parts
  21. I wonder what ratio is between actual ridden and fatalities. A lot of bikes registered and sit. I am not one that uses my bike as transportation for the most part, strictly leisure. I'll ride many weekday afternoons in the country, parked at home before evening rush hour begins, and have never once gotten my 83 out in the evening when dark. That said, it is really starting to concern me with the amount of stupid, unaware drivers out in their cages now days. I have a friend who parked and sold his MC last year after a couple near death experiences in a given month.
  22. Prayers to all, tough times for sure. Hope you / your wife and family find a way to turn such tragedy into a blessing.
  23. I agree with hair dryer, but I would use soft rag and WD40 to get glue and residue off.
  24. Kill switch right thumb?
  25. Sounds like a Great Day.
