  1. I like my Clearview on my 83, but not quite as large as yours.
  2. That is a nice big windshield. I would guess you can get one made, but it will be costly I would assume. Any reason you need or want it that large?
  3. I'll take one too as long as you have the checkbook out. I agree, look forward to this coming out.
  4. Purdy bike, I bet that would put a dent in the ol' savings account
  5. I don't think Rick Butler does it any longer. I tried reaching out to him last winter never got response. PS: Great looking bike. I like the color.
  6. Na, they'll just stop production.
  7. So proud that he will not need to worry about parting with it.
  8. You really should have started a new thread. Anyways, what is wrong with this wonderful windshield of yours? If it is just scratches or haze, it can be buffed out really easily. I've had luck with a 'headlight restore kit' from the auto store, has sandpaper etc to get the issues out. I personally like this one. https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G2980-Heavy-Headlight-Restoration/dp/B01M2D763D/ref=asc_df_B01M2D763D/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312087868266&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10120297752893216423&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016155&hvtargid=pla-493041359196&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=58868507981&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312087868266&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10120297752893216423&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016155&hvtargid=pla-493041359196
  9. Looks great, Enjoy.
  10. So, many of you know I'm looking far another bike besides my beautiful 83. I'm wanting to like the RSTD, so, does anyone else ride these with shorts on? Seems the rear jug, and chrome on those little bars will brand me if the skin touches. Jokes aside, are there any leather accessories that people use, or does everyone ride with long pants? My 83 has plastics that keep me safe
  11. I bet it's metric All else fails, find another bolt on bike that fits it, then head to Lowes, they have a decent selection and sizing gauges.
  12. Here are some links to various pdf files https://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?91-Manuals-Guides-Parts-Diagrams-Etc
  13. I'm on here almost every day, and could not come close to keeping my beauty running without all your help. Thank You
  14. I do, I'd forget my head sometimes if it wasn't attached, and I'd forget when the last oil change was, etc. I keep very detailed maintenance logs of all my toys and rides. It's one of the few smart things I feel I do
  15. $4.5 k so not screaming, just decent, and it is clean, leaks nothing. He just didn't sound like the type that put much into preventative basics. Rear drive line fluid never changed. I have a bit of extra MC money that I could spend, I'd rather wait, and besides, the K1600 sounds more interesting lol. I'm not afraid of wrenches, last weekend replaced the stearing bearings and races, by myself on the 83. Oh what a PITA.
  16. Talked to the guy with the BMW, I'm not ruling out BMWs yet, but I am this one. 2005, 38k miles, 3rd owner, zero written service records, he has never done basics like fluid exchanges, etc. Only changes oil (which is good) Everything I have watched and read say that these bikes are very finicky about service (not as forgiving as our Ventures)
  17. Your not the first one to tell my I need an attitude adjustment I could possibly grow to like the RSV, maybe put some RSTD handlebars on it, but I'm not a fan of the trunk that seems would look hideous if removed. (Not the the BMWs look much better)
  18. Wow, thanks everyone. Lots of great information. I think I might ride one just to see, but I'm not sure about all the plastic and maintenance they seem to need. I'm going to talk to the guy tomorrow, I guess a lot starts with the vibes from the conversation. I do know it is parked in a very nice home, so maybe the guy has $$ and let the Dealer keep up on the maintenance.
  19. Considering adding a bike to my stable (in addition to my 83) Having a hard time finding a big bike to fit me, I'm 6'3" 290# guy. I want water cooled, and I am not a fan of feet forward controls. I like my 83, but rather not take out of state on longer rides, has way too much that needs updates. DO you have any opinions of the BMW's? I spy a really nice 05 online. Thanks
  20. So I finished up with the head bearings today and have a question. I have always had a pretty tight stearing, pretty flat. (old bearings like dried paste with indents in them) I've always had bad stearing bushings for the past 5 years I've owned it. This is my first bike in 30 years, so I'm not sure how it should feel. Anyways, after done, I took for a test ride, seems to handle really loose, like if I go 50 mph, and wiggle handle bars, I feel I get get into a wobble fairly easily. Is there some adjustments I should consider. I feel pretty good about the torque on the head bearings, not too tight, no play or looseness. I do run the front forks with 0 psi. Is this just going to get some getting used to for me with new head bearings? Thanks Edit: Took it for a 50 mile ride today. Rode a bit different, by the end, I am in love with it. Rides the best it ever has. Cranked it up to triple digits, smooth as silk. Carves corners in the hills like never before. Man I wish I would have done this years ago.
  21. Not cool. Thank God they were wearing gear.
  22. I believe the part number you need is 1FK-16381-11-00. Google it, check the pictures, many places including Amazon. I replaced mine on my 83 a few years back. Getting air out is certainly a task. I 2X have tied the clutch back, left sit overnight and it was air free. Others have technically debunked that, saying that is not possible. You have nothing to lose.
  23. What did I do. Well, I'm almost finished replacing the steering head bushings. OMG, what a pain in the rear. Way over my typical ability. Bottom Race was a real trick. Bought a punch set, boy sharp hardened punches really came in handy. I have triple tree back in, finally, all good, just need to reassemble.
  24. So, I have an 83', and it has developed a seeping, to now slow drip coolant while cooling down. Sometimes a 4" circle on garage floor, so not ridiculous. It's seems to be coming from the thermostat housing 'o' ring. I found some pretty detailed advise in the First Gen Tech talk, and know I should replace cover (possible warped), o rings etc. BUT, it still seems to be a PITA, lots has to come off, and I had some great success with some stop leak in my Yukon on some heater hose seals and was wondering if anyone has run stop leak through their Motorcycle ?
  25. Safe travels, sounds like a good time.
