  1. Sorry to be misleading with the title, but need some advice please. In May I'm traveling to Cebu Philippines for 2 weeks to visit a very dear old shipmate of mine who retired there with his incredible good wife (In which I introduced to him, another long story for another time). He has an incurable cancer and is not long for this plain. What I need to know is what is the best International travelers health Ins . that's reasonable affordable? I'm retired Navy and all I have is Tricare Prime. But since we don't have bases there anymore it won't cover me there. Also being a Government Military Health system they can't recommend any one company. I was told get on line and search. Well there's too many and I'm not that computer savie. Thanks for all your help guys. Respectfully Gene'o USN ret AD1 aw:fingers-crossed-emo
  2. Gentleman and Techs Plus all others who know your one or the other (LOL) 88 VR live in Northern Washington On Whidbey Island where it rains more often than not WHAT ARE YOUR TIRE RECOMMENDATIONS? Looking for load, (Run heavy on X-country once maybe twice or less a summer) and high mileage. Mostly commute 30 miles one way through S-curves and bridges. Western WA cool and wet, summers 70's-80's. Mid and East WA hot and dry, summers 90's-100's Thanks Gents Gene'o USN ret
  3. If you could get back to me one way the other would be great my e-mail is geneocaddy@hotmail or PM me here. I have a 88 VR It has Dunlap 404 now I have no ideal how many miles are on them. They came on the bike when I bought it. The rear tire is now down to cords and the front severely weather cracked. I was thinking about getting the Elite 3's however I live in Northern Washington State on Whidbey Island which means it rains more often than not and the tread design don't look good for rain and the S curves coming on and off the Island . But wanted the load and high mileage capability so I was looking at the Dunlap 491 Elite II's What are you recommendations? I had an 84 VR in Philippines and Japan and that'a a whole different story for tires. Philippines hot and humid and most of the asphalt is crushed coral, and Japan are plain NUTS (plus the wrong side of the road) Thanks Gene'o USN ret

  5. HI Guys I was thinking about putting a CD changer in the left trunk on my 88 Royal. My question; 1) Which brand works the best bouncing around in the trunk? (even though it's secured to the trunk) 2) What cord to plug into the stereo, and does the stereo have an AUX for it? 3) And last, does the stereo control the changer or does it have a seperate control for the handle bars? Thanks Guys Gene'o P.S. And does anyone have one they would like to sell that still works good with the CD holder cartridges? But doesn't cost as much as new? thanks

  9. Ok all you smarter than me and I know theres awhole lot of you. I'm trying to locate a tall, wide, built in vent windshield out there. I've heard all you Royal Star riders brag about it. I've searched f4 custom and a couple of other places, even called a few dealers. No one carries or knows how to find one for my 88 Venture Royal. So HELP. What do you guys suggest? I like the ideal of moving that bubble so she dosn't get buffeted and I don't get her long hair wipping my face. Plus the vent to break up the bubble and give her a little more air flow. Or I'm I stuck with stock? Thanks Guys Gene'o
  10. Has anybody ordered anything from leather up? What did you all think? Are the leathers good enough especialy at those prices?
  11. does the 88 royal have an aux port for a cd changer? Is it possiable to hook one up?
  12. Go to Bose web site look under marine. They have a set that look like they will fit and are water proof. I put a set of Bose in my 84 when I was in the Philippines and put the control box on the fork tree behind the faring. sounded good and servived the monsoons in both Philippines and Japan. The ones on Bose web site look like they'll do alot better and without the control box. I was thinking about putting them on the 88 front.
  13. Hay Guys I've searched e-bay and Criegs list and all the manufacture sites everyone recommended. I still can't find floor boards for my 88 royal 1st Gen MKII. So I need some help. 18. had any problems catching your ankle or skinning your inside when stopping? ( yes we all wear high boots) Heard this can get anoying in stop and go traffic?
  19. Thanks guys Never knew all that. My boss has them on his shovel head and he's been debating with himself for going on 6 years to keep them or not. It gave me food for thought. I'll ride around the flats of eastern Washington and then make the choice. Right now being on the Island and the passes the pegs are easier and I can hold on a little better especial in the switchbacks of old Hy 9 going to the CA. border. Fun ride. The boss has his shovel head so have to really hold back. His soft tail is geared and built for open road. So still have to hold back. But his new sporty don't know I probaly won't be able to keep up. Being short legged is not the problem (with all due respect) I'm 6'2" 34" inseam so thats not a problem. My boss can't even sit on my 88 He's all of 5'2" and all body. even his 2012 sporty he has reaching ground issues. I have seen him get a little upset about having to REACH around the floor boards, and complaines catching his anckles sometimes (ouuch)

  22. I've had 2 royales First one was the two tone gold 84 which I rode all over the Philippines and then shipped to Japan when I was transfered to the USS Midway in Yokosuka, (guess what you can not get any parts for yamaha's that are over 1100cc's in Japan it's illeagle, explain more later) Second one is the 88 royal I just picked up. Question Never had floor boards on the driver end. Always had pegs. What are the advantage and disadvantage of the floor boards. I'm thinking about putting some on , but I thought I'd tap the VAST knowledge of fellow riders. Thanks Gene'o venture482
  23. If you really want to get attention fast and have people JUMP I even had a 6 pt buck jump out of the way when other cars honked and trucks blew air horns and he just stared at them. Put an old fashion UUUUGGGGAAAA horn on. Since thats a such a strange horn compared to whats now normal it really gets people and animals attention quickly. YES IT WORKS. geneo
