  1. Today
  2. Steve, if you're mechanically inclined and wanted to try and tackle it yourself, see this writeup:
  3. If he’s traveling it may take some time to hear back from him.
  4. Thank you, Ronnie. I have sent him a text and am waiting to hear back from him.
  5. The original Royal Stars(1996 to 2001) hade 28 mm carbs. Venture style Royal Stars including the Venture (1999 to 2013) and the Tour DeLuxe (2005 to 2010) had 32 mm carbs. From AI Key Dates for Yamaha Royal Star: 1996: The initial Yamaha Royal Star model was introduced. 1996–2001: This period included the initial Royal Star cruiser and the Royal Star Tour Classic, a version of the Venture with some features removed. 1999: Yamaha launched a new full-dress touring version called the Royal Star Venture. 2005: The Royal Star Tour Deluxe was introduced, which was a standard Royal Star Venture model with no touring features like a fairing, radio, and trunk.
  6. Yesterday
  7. I texted @dfitzbiz contact info to you. He’ll rebuild it.
  8. Does anyone know the size of the carb air intake on a 98 RSTD? I'm getting two different results when I search. 28 MM and 32 MM. I have had enough with the big ugly air box on this scoot! I'm changing to pods.
  9. It is more or less ok to ride but you’ll get a pogo effect. If it’s just leaking oil, you can repair it.
  10. I washed the Venture today and after backing it back in the shop to put it back together, I noticed some oil dripping underneath the center of the bike. Looked it over and it looks like the shock is leaking. A couple of questions here. Will it hurt to continue to ride the bike with a bad shock? And second, who can I get to rebuild this shock? Thanks for any help.
  11. Nice ride. If I get rid of my Venture, I am thinking of getting a lighter cruiser and a trike for long rides with the wife. IF, she doesn't want to take her Spyder.
  12. My riding has slowed considerably since Loretta won't ride and now I work remote. I would put ~500 miles a week on the bike when it was my daily commute.
  13. Last week
  14. If ever I decide to explore the darkside, BF Goodrich T/A Radial is on top of my list. I am not sure though if my 'go to' motorcycle shop will mount a car tire for me here in Pa.
  15. I considered something like that but in the end, I’m holding on to some hope that Eileen will get better and want to ride with me again.
  16. I've been considering going to an adventure bike. Looking at the KLR 650 S. Much lighter and I'm thinking it will be more versatile now that I'm living in the mountainous area of the country.
  17. I run a BF Goodrich T/A radial on my 01 RSV, have been for the last 10 years. Rides great and grips the road well wet or dry. My first one took me almost 40k miles before I put a new one on because of age, still had better than 50% tread left.
  18. Me too
  19. Those are sweet bikes! I always take a lap around them when I see one out in the real world. Congrats on the new machine!
  20. I've had my '99 since '13. I would run about 40 mpg when highway commuting to work at 65-75mph. When traveling with the buddies who have 6spd Indian or Kawi Nomad they'd fly out of town at 75-80 mph and I'd drop down into the mid 30's. This past winter I finally did an Ivan's jet kit (already had Uni foam filters and HD High flow pipes) and now I'm a consistent mid-30's. I like the extra power, but not really needed and I want to play around with the tuning to get the fuel milage back up just a tick.
  21. Sorry Man, I cannot, but the post is too funny.
  22. I’ll ask the boss for the time off.
  23. Good morning to all! TGIF!
  24. Dates are set for August 12 thru August 16, 2026
  25. I love my 98 RSTD...I hate this bike! Can someone please, please tell me how the f#$k I get the big ugly air box cover back on after changing the air filter? I'm seriously considering scrapping this thing for a freaking mule! Maybe just chopping up into a million chunks of scrap iron!
  26. Good evening to all. Enjoy the night. Tomorrow will be a better day than today weatherwise...
  27. Good morning to all. Yesterday, I was able to complete my planned project on the RSV. Installed another Denali Sound Bomb horn on the RSV this time. It didn't take long for me to decide where to install the horn so I got to work right away. Just applied blue loctites on all bolts and made sure that I used nylon lock nuts to the horn mounts. It turned out great IMO and very satisfied. Today, we are having some very fine mist and cloudy. I guess thanks to Hurricane Erin that is just offshore off the east coast. On a day that I really want to go out may turn out to be a day of indoor activities and more computer and ham radio. The agenda is to hit the gym and do a little bit of riding, but that will have to wait for another day. Attached are some pics and a very short video for attention. IMG_1283.MP4
  28. I have 135000 on my rsv and last been about 70000 since I changed. Bike still runs good, what is best plug and what best gap.
