When I use ABS glue I put a large ABS patch on the back side. I buy sheets and heat gun it to mold to the shape, glue, and clamp it.

Yamaha support of new parts for our older bikes
LeesBike replied to LeesBike's topic in General Tech Talk
Most of the time, the non yamaha parts are junk, and the yamaha parts are $$$$ -
Just booked our room at Season’s Inn. What time will you have the coffee on?

Rear master cylinder
frankd replied to frankd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks! I ordered the rear master rebuild kit and it should arrive in a few days. I replaced the brake fluid in the clutch system about a month ago. I should replace the fluid in the brake syster also. I'l have to bleed the rear system anyway because of all the air pumped in, I'll just push the calilpers back and get that old fluid out. Frank -
Ron, you just saying that because it's true

IMHO there should be a washer between the gear and the aluminum case -
yah, ABS cement not the best option and the process and prep work is also important.

hey, thankz for the come back. i'll try them!

Sport Wheel in Jordon, MN is a source but I am not sure if they have much for 2nd gen, but they have a lot of 1st gen stuff. Rick F.

I got mine out and found a crack on the right side fairing on my 89 VR, so I patched it with with ABS cement and it seemed to hold but when I took it out for a nice ride, about 100 miles, the fairing recracked and ended up braking the attachment points on that side. Seems for some reason the 36 year old plastic got brittle on that side. Heading out to the Motorcycle junkyard down the road a ways to see if I can locate a solid replacement. They have a lot of Venture parts out there and hopefully I can find one that isnt in too bad of shape. Rick F.

Rear master cylinder
cimmer replied to frankd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It is also possible if you havent change out the brake fluid in the past number of years, you might have some moisture in the system and just need to flush some fresh fluid thru the whole system. Dont forget the the left front rotor and caliper is part of the rear brake system also with an additional bleed located up near the triple tree. Check the service manual on the correct bleeding sequence for the bike. Hope this helps. Rick F. -
Starter gear train help

I have checked my manual and parts fiche and I dont see any washers listed either. I might be temped to use them between the splined gears to space out the geas to make sure they mess with the opposite gear fully if needed. I replaced my starter clutch a number of years ago but dont remember any washer but my memory isnt what is use to be. Sorry I couldnt help more. Good luck Rick F. - Last week

Never say never. Time will tell. Always keep motorcycling in your mind. Now that most if not all of the thunder clouds are out of our area, today is a gorgeous day to ride until up to the weekend. Be safe this weekend of July 4th.

I went and put 1000 miles on mine, over 6/19 thru 6/22, had great fun touring the lower part of Iowa. 100 degree heat index and some 50 mph wind gusts. Just have to get on and go!

pondering the idea of selling the bike after this summer. It's not a easy decision. Motorcycles have been a huge part of my life since 1963.

Funny you mention that. This past weekend the wife and I were at the VJMC gathering in Blairsville, GA. Long story short, I did drop the bike on its left side in a parking lot incident - barely moving - and the wife fell splat to the ground helmet slapped the asphalt. She just got a little scratch out of the deal thank the Lord - he was watching over her - no headache at all. Not a scratch on the bike that I could find...not even a reflector out of place - the guards did their job!

We’re sorta considering the move to a trike before long. Ive never dropped the RSV, always been strong enough to catch it. Worried about the damage to me if I try to do that now.

Paul they’re leaving out a big part of the info:FOOD. Lots of good eating and a nightly run to the ice cream stand. After all many refer to us as an eating club with a motorcycle disorder.

It’s been several years since I had one apart and don’t remember but the parts diagram doesn’t show one. -
Paul, this usually a small group of folks, and is a very laid back get together we talk about where we are going to ride and go. We welcome everyone no matter what you ride. Trina and I will be camped out at Vogel State park.

I hate to see this kind of talk, but I know one day it will happen but not today
