2018 Star Venture
orlean1 replied to Rafterd's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
A guy named Bill Matthews runs a group on Facebook called over 50 and still on 2 wheels. His wife and him rode the bike and they said it gives off a fair amount of heat. They also said that bike is for the larger framed person. I love the bells and whistles. But I don't know if I can deal with the air cooled engine especially since we are moving to Florida in the next couple of years. -
Hi All Yesterday I came home from work. I ride everyday. About 25 miles each way to work. About a hour later went to start the bike and I didn't hear the fuel pump kick in and the bike wouldn't start. I let it sit for a day and went to start it this morning, I heard the fuel pump but still no noise when i tried to start it. The lights come on and Im getting 12 volts. The fuel filter was changed about 3 months ago. Also I notice this past week when i get off the highway in the morning about a 20 minutes ride i put my hand on the engine to warm them up. Normally i can leave them their no longer than a sec and feel the heat through the gloves. This past week it was a lot longer on each cylinder before I felt the heat, almost as the engine felt only luke warm. The temps are in the upper 50s in the morning but in the winter a lot colder when i could only leave my hands on for a second. Do you think the problem is the starter, spark plugs or something else. When i push the start button nothing, no clicking or anything.

Installed heated grips
orlean1 replied to ReinyRooster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the exact same ones had them installed down in bike week October last year. Same location also. They get very hot. On the cold mornings in Cleveland around 30 degrees 50 or 75 percent is enough for me. I was very impressed they were a couple hundred cheaper than the Avons. -
Just checked that is the right number MV85HB-15
-
Hi Freebird Thats all I run on my RSV. I get about 17k-20K each set. I do use the MV85B15 on the rear. I ride a lot in some torrential rains and that tire has held true. Solid grip on dry pavement also and the bike feels planted to me with the E3's on. Except for the original manufacturers tire. Thats the only tires I ever had. The rear for E4 is scheduled for late spring of 17, at least thats what the rep told me at the bike show. When your tread is halfway through you will start to hear a little road noise in turns but thats about it. Its not aggrevating but when the tires are new they are whisper quiet. So you notice that little bit of noise.

Prayers for Rick Butler

Our Thoughts are with you Rick. -
Hi Iriemon I have had both. Im 6'4" and 275 and ride a lot of long distance 1000+ days. I found that both seats were comfortable for about 500- 700 miles and then they both got uncomfortable for me. However with the pillowtop I was able to finish a 1000+ day with less discomfort than the other. I have had a Russell Day long on for the past year and a half customed to mine and my wifes weight. It was worth the upgrade. With the Russell day long, 1000+ mile days are no problem and I have energy to even do something after I get off the bike. So if your days are filled with 500 miles or less I think you should be fine. It may take a few rides to find that sweet spot. If you want the band type and your wife likes the pillow top you could probably do that and put a cover over the seat, something like beads or fur and no one would know the difference and you both could have your cake. My wife loves the Russell Day also, she also preferred the pillowtop before she was fitted for the Russell Day Long also. Hope that helps. PS. Everything I think of getting something new I take a ride on Big Blue and lose my mind. I love the Venture. This was the bike for folks our height.

AUX input for satellite radio
orlean1 replied to orlean1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks David Found the cable doing the rewire now. -
Hi Everyone I've searched several threats but I'm not sure which cable coming out of the radio is the aux input cable. I want to run my satellitte cable into that input with a y mount so i can keep my front opening closed while playing the satellite and still have use of the front input for later on. If anyone has a picture of this that would be great. Thanks everyone in advance.

Hi All im 3 weeks today out from a total right knee replacement. Cleveland Clinic did mine. It has been excellent. No pain at all coming out of surgery. I was driving 1 week after the surgery but that is not the norm. I went back to work after my second week. I choose the virtual physical therapy. About a week before the surgery a company comes to your home and they set up a computer that has cameras and your rehab program loaded into. As you do you therapy. the therapist usually looks at your results the next day and then you have a virtual dr. appt where you review how your sessions are going. It is everyday It can get tiring but it definitely gives you an advantage. Also the first week after surgery I was doing something every hour that I was awake. it was not sleep time. Every hour it would be leg lifts, walk around the house (on the inside) and do your flexing exercises. I do get stiffiness at bed time and the first thing when I wake up but no pain at all. During pre Op. Cleveland Clinic said they have learned to control the pain so if your feeling any pain after the surgery they feel they haven't done their job right. They are very good at it. For Surgery there is a pain killer they put right in the knee area, and then another drip in your thigh that last a couple days after the surgery and then a spinal block. They did not do the spinal block on me because there is so much arthritis in my spine. (its a ***** getting old). I woke up from surgery and felt great. Im at 130 on the bend and feeling real good. I walk with a cane about half the time but my goal is to be done with the cane by May 1. I do get stiffiness if i sit a long time. My job involves a fair amount of sitting, but after i start walking the stiffness eases up. Im going up and down the stairs now with both legs. The first 2 weeks it was strong leg to climb and weak leg to descend. I do go into live pt sessions where they help massage the area. As of today there is just a little bit of swelling left. The one thing i do notice is temperature change. If it is cold outside my knee seems to be a little stiffer as it warms up then the knee area loosens up. I have been 1000% happy with what Cleveland Clinic did. I need my left done but its not giving me any trouble. Ill look at it right before I retire in 3 years. Im also riding a stationary bike that I have and that helps a tremendous amount. I plan to get back on the bike June 1 and feel I will hit that goal right on time. To prevent the withdrawals i did go to bike week in Daytona Beach the week before my surgery. For those of you approaching a knee replacement if your dr. offers the virtual physical therapy take it. It will speed up your recovery and you will love it. Last edited by orlean1; Today at 09:53 AM.
