  1. Don't have the Venture anymore (wreck) but still check in.
  2. Hazards do work with the ignition off. I will clean the battery terminals.
  3. I have an 89 VR that hasn't been ridden in a few years, but I do start it at least once a week. Last week I started it with no problem. I went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't crank. The fuel pump clicked, All the lights come on,and the kill switch is in the run position, the radio works the hazards work, but not the turn signals , the horn doesn't work and the brake light doesn't work. The battery is less than 2 months old. I think that's all the details I can think of, any thoughts on what happened in the few days since I last started it?
  4. Not an answer to your question but related. I bought my first Venture an 84 new while I was stationed in the Philippines from the Navy Exchange at Subic Bay. I bought the bike for $5360.00 (not a Royale). About a month later they called me and said the bike was not a US spec bike and ordered me another one. About a month later the replacement arrived, I went to get it the day after they called. When I got there it was still in the crate. While I waited for them to get it ready (about 45 min) I waited in the managers office and saw the invoice from Yamaha. The Navy exchange paid Yamaha $2550.00 for the bike. Just a look at the other end of the cost spectrum.
  5. I sent you a PM
  6. Check the classified. I have left and right black and gold fairings in good shape from an 86 that will fit.
  7. Yes they are, I have a set for sale in the classified, they just need mounting screws
  8. I have relisted the items I had for sale, some with lower asking prices. I am still open to reasonable offers. I am out of the Venture business and need to get rid of this stuff. I have plenty more stuff and will be posting it soon.
  9. I would check the connector in front of the ignition switch under the panel you take off to get to the speakers.
  10. https://www.cyclefish.com/motorcycle_events
  11. Yes it is. I haven't been getting notifications on responses or messages.
  12. I have several first gen parts for sale in the classified section and have received no inquiries. Am I asking too much or is there just no interest? I will accept reasonable offers.
  13. I'll keep this short. I don't know had attached you are to staying as close to the OEM setup as possible, but after several tries this is what I ended up with. A Jensen marine unit MS30 had usb input played MP3 from thumb drive and an AUX input newer and better units also include bluetooth), clarion XC-2410 power amp and 5.25 Kicker speakers (someone hear did a how to for this) with foam speaker enclosures behind them. I later added what is sold on ebay as a sub level control which I used as a volume control rather than the buttons on the head unit, I was quite happy with this setup.
  14. Sounds like the fuel petcock screen might be clogged, BTW bike was designed to run on 87 octane and no gains from premium on a stock bike. I would also check the fuel lines after 30 plus years there maybe some deterioration.
