I wear Harley boots so I don't care if anybody knows. I've had two different Harley bikes...just not comfortable enough for me at this season in my life. Thanks:301:- 22 replies

I have a '99 venture with the standard smooth seats. I have ridden up to 400 miles with minimal discomfort. I bought a set of pillow seats and installed along with pillow backrest. I want the Mrs. as comfortable as possible. Are these as comfortable as they look and are they hot in the summer? I weigh around 150lbs. Thanks to all and have a Merry CHRISTmas!!

CB Radio Problem
Wayne McClain replied to ssimar4's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
....yes ,the ones behind the fairing do check those and you may want to go ahead and grease them up with dielectric grease...this caused all my cb woes!!- 17 replies

:)Gentlemen , thankyou so much for your input on this! I can't imagine trying to figure this out by myself....simply put, wouldn't have happened!!
-
I've about decided to pursue this route. Do you have to use the big round and dc output on the fairing? I was hoping I could use the cassette power supply when I remove it and neatly run wiring into fairing. Thanks
-
I have the fairing apart now and was making repairs on cb when I came up with this idea of mp3 thing. The RCA jack or whatever on the back of the radio, is it located off the amp or the cassette unit ? Also what model , if the one you guys are talking about, of Garmin is now being made that is similar to the ones you gentlemen have since you have had yours a while or are the models you have still available? I like this idea.
-
....ok , I watched the you tube video of install of the venture mp3 or sd player from spain and I think install looks pretty easy! It 's not going to change the appearance from the outside of the bike that I can tell . This is a nice option!! Thanks!!
-
So if I currently don't have the cable to the cd player, I would need to install that I assume? I would just order the cable from yamaha or can I get from the place you mentioned? Thanks
-
I've never heard of doing this. Is it common place? Where did you get the mount and is the gps thing water-proof? Thanks
-
Gentlemen , I absolutely love this forum as a wonderful source of information! That being said , I was thinking of installing a CD player but after reading several posts, I believe an MP3 player may be a better choice? Is there a "clean looking way" other than using the aux plug on cassette deck, which I plan on converting to storage box as seen on other posts and since mine doesn't operate anyway, and is there a wiring harness or adapter to accomplish this? We ride in some remote areas that radio reception is poor at best. I may have placed this in the wrong forum as I have a '99 yamaha venture...don't know how to move to gen 2. Thanks for your help in advance! Last edited by Wayne McClain; Today at 09:23 PM. CB Problems
Wayne McClain replied to Wayne McClain's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gentlemen, with the help of the schematic Mike sent me , I was able to locate the source of my low output cb volume as corroded pins on yellow set of pin-plugs behind headlight assembly. The fairing came apart quite easily with no damage!! I was very careful ,systematically removing each screw and component. Here I was worried sick about taking this apart .....piece of cake!! Thanks to Mike and all for your input!! -
CB Problems
Wayne McClain replied to Wayne McClain's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep..I thought I would need to split the fairing as much as I hate to!! I was thinking connections or amp. I really dont care about cassette but may replace with good used one since I'll it apart. I would love to have the pdf of schematic but I don't know to pm or im or whatever you do. I'll see if I can figure it out . Thanks to All!! -

CB Problems

CB Problems
Wayne McClain replied to Wayne McClain's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes the volume is all the way up and I appreciate your helping me understand this. I have extensive electronics background but I did need to consult owners manual on how to operate controller. The volume window displays "cvol" I believe or " cvol20" or something like that. Is it possible the cb module is faulty? I have removed seats and confirmed good connectios there. I'm concerned about amp..what you think? -
CB Problems
Wayne McClain replied to Wayne McClain's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thankyou sirs for your response! I didn't think the problem would be with attenna but since they are not stock they are suspect to me. Yes it transmits loud and clear but I just can't hear any thing going down the road. In the garage it's not very loud however I can understand what is being said. The TX and RX operates when receiving and transmitting. I have not tried the tape deck but the radio operates very loud and clear just the reception range I feel is very low. Do you think amp? I'll try the connections asap and let you know. I just hate digging around running the risk of damage or causing a rattle but I've got to do somethin g. -
I have 1999 yamaha venture that broadcasts loud and clear to my fellow riders however I can't hear them at all.The cb volume is at max 20, I've turned the IC down/up/mid andd I've even used headphones/speakers. If I have the bike in garage in accessories mode where it's relatively quiet , I can hear truckers reasonably clearly. A friend of mine says his venture is the same way. Is this typical for these bikes and if not ,what can I do?? Someone has put some "jitterbug" or something like that after market attenna on cb and radio( which has very poor range). I have ordered factory attenna to eliminate as possibility!!The cb one currently doesn't have the fat area mid-shaft on attenna. Thanks!!
