  1. Before I lost it, I had noticed the other one being loose before. I know that when I lost it the lock was open. I am not sure if the bolt could have backed all the way out if it were closed. In any case, putting Loktite on the bolt is a good idea.
  2. I lost one of the Helmet Locks off of my 2003 Venture. Bought a new one from Yamaha and took it to a locksmith to get it re-keyed to match my other locks. It could not be done. Yamaha has replaced the old lock with one that has an opposite key shape. The old key will not even fit into the new lock. Does anyone have an older lock that they want to get rid of or do you know where I can find old stock?
  3. I rode from Hilton Head, South Carolina to South Houston, TX on my FZ1. That was approx 1200 miles. On the Venture I rode from Deadwood, SD to South Houston, TX. That was approx 1600 miles. I didn't plan on a single day trip on either occasion and did a lot of sight-seeing the first half of the day so the time it took is not that impressive. About 22-hours on the FZ1 and about 26 on the Venture (including a 3-hour nap at a rest area).
  4. Avon Sizes are: 150/80-16 71H Front 150/90B15 M/C 80H Rear
  5. I have used both the E3's and the Avon Venoms. I would recommend the Venom over the E3. In my experence the E3's are inferior in traction / grip. They tend to slide around under hard braking and it doesn't take much to break them loose on wet pavement.
  6. My 2003 Venture has a problem with the battery going flat after it sits for around 12 to 14 days. The charging system is working fine. If I ride at least once a week, I never have a problem. But let is sit two weeks.... dead battery. I replaced original battery with an Odyssey brand recently and scenario is the same. My brothers 2006 V-Max does the exact same thing. Do any of you have any experience/fix for this problem, or any ideas (other than ride it at least once a week)?
  7. I bought the Tourmaster Synergy Jacket Liner and Gloves. Beware that the gloves run small. I normally wear XXL gloves but I had to buy their XXXXL and could still use a little more room in the palm area. On the Venture both items work really well. When it's about 35 degrees out you can run them on Low for 2 or 3 minutes and then shut them off for the next 5-10 minutes and still be warm. But riding my FZ1 is a different story (less wind protection). At 35 degrees you can't feel any warmth in the gloves except on high and then you get way too hot in the jacket liner.
