I agree with "Wilcruise" on West Tennessee.. Some very nice roads to ride, and Memphis or Jackson has some nice hotels and campgrounds near by.. Also Arkansas has been mentioned, and West Tenn, is just across the mighty Mississippi river.
You have got some very good advice in here, but it sounds like the reed valves to me. There might be some trash in them or the reed plate might be warped. If its warped you might can smooth it out on a face plate with fine emery clouth.. That happened to me on a 50HP johnson outboard, and I was able to fix it.
I mounted my XM on the front brake master cly. and ran the wires down the handlebar and inside the fairing and put a splitter in the aux wire. That way I don't have to have the cassette door open.
