  1. Is there a clear glass cylinder in the center of each (after the first one)? He could be pouring outside of it
  2. I believe you said in one of your posts the bit had not been removed in quite some time or even ever. It might be a good idea to put a very light coat of oil on the collet the next bit you use
  3. Here it is http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Saddlebag-Guards-Mounts-Kit-Guard-Mount-Kit-/171245522259?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27df074d53
  4. Jburrel. Search eBay. Seems I saw somebody selling those at a decent price. They caught my attention because I was needing the same as you a couple of years ago. That bolt will be a tough one to find. The head is special in order fit in the recess. I ended up getting mine from the Yamaha/star booth at Sturgis at no charge.

    Why?

    It's just before Z
  6. Great job positioning those bags!
  7. I've done this a couple of times. The first time was a few years ago and I found a step by step description on this site. I have been searching and not found it but I am using my phone - will try later. Plan on a full day for your first time. I lay out an old blanket on the floor and place the parts on it in order of removal. It helps to take pictures of everything as you disassemble - especially cable routing.
  8. Which is the most economical way to add more running/brake/turn signal visibility to the rear: the Harley bracket or replacing the stock rear turn signal assemblies with used front turn signal assy's? They appear to be interchangeable. Assuming one could find used ones on eBay, red LED's could be added, and splice in the wires from the taillight circuit and brake light. Would this provide decent rear running lights, additional brake lights, and brighter turn signals with LED's?
  9. 10,000 miles per year on my RSTD and for tunes, iPhone in a holder on the handlebar and blue tooth headset. Turn by turn navigation is a bonus.
  10. Devils Tower in Wyoming, Custer State Park/Mount Rushmore, Badlands Nat'l Park. These are the usual highlights. Each a day trip when based in the Sturgis area
  11. My son recorded a video of what happens to a cupful of hot water tossed into the air at -17 today in Madison Wisconsin. I wish I could get the link on here but can't get it so take my word for it. It turned into ice crystals in mid air.
  12. I wouldn't mess with the AIS for the popping. Carb sync and sea foam first
  13. Most require side reflectors also. However this bike does look good!
  14. George, I have not heard of these relays having a high failure rate. With that in mind, if you did lose your fuel pump relay or even the pump you could always gravity feed it by rerouting the fuel lines to finish your trip. Just a thought
  15. My father died of a brain tumor at age 37 when I was in high school. Mother is in a nursing home with Alzheiners and incoherent for the past 5 years. Now not to go all doom and gloom because I have great wife, four wonderful kids, and five fantastic grand kids. That whole group is what keeps going me going and looking forward to every day. And those dats are even better hittin the open road on my RSTD!
  16. George, go to to the tech section for 2nd gens and check out the procedure for installing leveling links to raise the rear of the bike. From the sound of what you have done on your bike so far you should be able to do this. I made my own links and the handling is much improved. I don't know if it will increase your ground clearance enough to avoid scraping the center stand but it should help some. If not, you will still have a better handling bike. Some have been concerned with increased seat height so if you are "in seam challenged" take that into consideration before raising the rear.
  17. Go to the VR Tech section. There are wiring instructions there that should help
  18. Try this guy. He sells on eBay and I believe they are $100.00 or less. Nothing fancy but it works for me. http://www.grasshopperlimited.com
  19. Try this place. I have been using one on my 07 RSTD for a couple years and have been happy with it. http://www.grasshopperlimited.com Not fancy but it works
  20. wide open throttle
  21. Don't feel dumb. Many of us have been there
  22. Four hours for me. I will plan on it!
  23. We use it as an addition to cable and have only used it for Netflix. It is great for that
  24. maybe...... They would PAY me to take it off their hands?
