I liked my Windjammer and I also had a Pacifica that was similar. I really liked the frame mounted fairings.
-
Going to take some serious figurin. Even with the 1.5" risers they beat the center plastic key cover thing. Also there is issues with the rubber dampeners for the fairing. Lines not such a big deal, I think its Skydoc has extended SS lines. If he is making them or has a supplier they can make them whatever length is needed. I think your best bet is to go with a new set of handle bars.

Yup I like the new model better than the big fender and all that fringe stuff. I dunno how anybody keeps that stuff clean. The front fenders look kind of like they came off the Victory line. As for the heat, the guys with the Victory's that do not have the lowers run a lot cooler.

05 RSV quit on me, any suggestions?
djh3 replied to BMW's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I concur on not the ignition switch. If it ran then quit, switch is working (for now) -
Yea I'm not a bike trailer expert by any stretch. But that thing looks like to much if you had a Kia Hamster van pulling it. I sure dont want to try to pull something much over like aprox 1/3 weight of bike.

On a side note not to hi-jack but... I had a pair of ISO pegs, the wide ones mounted for a little over a year maybe 20 months. I guess being out where the road grime hits them all the time took its toll. But the chrome was all bubbled and faded, peeling etc. Now they have been doing this awhile, but they just got to where they really looked like crap. I pulled them apart, sanded and painted them with Rustolium hammered paint. I could have bought some Chinese knock offs from e-bay for about half but I didnt. But I IMOP got crap product. If I did it over I'd go knock off. I guess what I'm saying is dont be surprised at the quality of the Kuryakyn stuff any more. I put an extra washer under the head of the bolt so it would draw down better. If the ends of the clamp are already touching you have to spacer around the bars.

Hmm I'm liking the HEI coil idea. Last time I messed with a fence charger I think they were 12v yes? So if they are that give a very viable source for the HEI coil and to trigger that 70K worth of voltage. So was there stuff missing? I cant figure out if they got off with anything or not.

Yea especially with this rainy front coming thru the middle part of country.

I was out over by Lakeland where the Victory dealer is. I stopped in on the way home to Stake N Wait. Fellow sitting alone in booth across from me was finishing up his burger. I noticed a Viet Nam vet hat on the table with a USAF pin on it. I saw his bike out in the lot too. I said hi and some small talk. Told him thank and he was modest about it. I said let me get that brother, he said thats OK. I told him I was retired USAF and showed him my name badge I wear on my Hi Vis vest. He had a good chuckle and said only if I can buy yours. So we just passed checks. But I am said to say I dont do it enough. The Viet Nam guys got a raw deal in my book, the way they were treated by the public back then. It all seemed to turn around after Desert Storm. Oh well enough rambling.

Was online racing last night in my league. One of my fellow members that rides up in New England reminded me of the old way. Back when you had to carry extra plugs because we fouled them out (I had a RD 350 2 stroke). He said to pitch a spark plug or lug nut at the windshield.

Both look same to me, with the exception of under positive lead it says "Packard". So dont know if that means it has a connector already installed or what. But pressure and fitting size is all same. I used the MR Gasket and never had an issue with flooding.

There is a shop manual for download available somewhere. But it is pretty straight forward. First off, what are you replacing it with? Another OEM or a Hagon or something? First need to be able to support the bike completely, because the rear wheel is not going to have any support. Let any air out of shock that may be in there. Disconnect the hose so its free to remove. Then there is only a bolt on the top you need to access thru the right hand cover if I remember right. The lower bolt you can get at from the bottom. Shock should then drop out and reverse process to install. Try here http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002013&id=337 Cut and paste, for some reason a link wont work.

Yup I am well aware of them kind of temps. We lived in southwestern Oklahoma little place called Altus for 20 years. Summers 100+ winters in the 30-40 deg range most days. Add tornadoes to the mix and I am OK with living in central Fla. Your power bill must be outrageous trying to keep 72 in that heat.
-
Its all good though. Ask them people that live out there in them ovens, its a dry heat so its OK.

Thats a 4th gen proto type

Looking for the.. Valve adjusting tool part number YM-33961 (J type)

Just pass one along. .84c and a shim aint no biggie. I'm guessing it arrived OK. Interweb has been out here a couple days due to network issues. -
Florida has EZ pass. Similar deal little electronic gizmo registered to your name/plates. Also attached is something they call "toll by plate" So if you have that issue your thingy dont click and they get your tag, they just deduct from your account. Now I will say the 2nd gen was depending on tool both. hit or miss. I have forgot the toll thing and still used the toll roads. Depending on the position of camera weather or not they could get a good shot of the tags. While in Mosport race track one of the provincial LEO we were chatting with we had told him we were on our bikes. Told him what we had etc. He told us they used cameras for enforcement of speeding in a lot of parts. He told us (at that time) the chances of their cameras getting a tag # off the 2ng gen was not probable due to trunk being so close to tag and overhang.

Funny when I have went to look for Ventures, I get vans and snowmobiles

The fuel pump I think is sourced from Mitsubishi. Anyways did some back research years ago and I think I found that the same pump was used on the old like 80 or so Dodge Colt 4cyl.

problem with main fuse
djh3 replied to Gary Klop's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Shouldn't make any difference which side of battery you hook up first. I typically hook up the neg last. If it is blowing fuses as soon as connected, it has a dead short somewhere. -
Silver, was looking for someone else the other day and found a Vision like a 12 or 13 model and was about 10K with 30k on clock I think.
-
Have to agree. Sounds very close to what mine started doing. I thought pump was overheating or possible vapor lock. As mine was out of warrenty I went with an electric fuel pump. Yours is under warranty. Call dealer and tell them what happened, ask them what they might do. Maybe they will just change the pump if they are familiar with these bikes. Or ask them if it happens again what they want you to do, call them or a wrecker and if they are going to cover the cost.

YUP Welcome to my world friend. Its been HOT for what seems like months. Now its starting the rainy cycle and we need it dont get me wrong. But day after day. I have not even rode to work (8mi round trip) but a couple days since our last meet and eat. Every weekend seems to be loaded with stupid projects not of my doing. Today I get the question of what would you like to do. "I dunno I aint even finished my 1st cup of coffee yet". Then comes the we need to clean the carpet in living room, wash clothes, clean the tile floor yada yada. Sooooo I have a choice??? Next 2 weekends are clogged up with family junk, then we will probably have a hurricane or something fouling up the mess. So I feel with ya brother.
