Depends on how handy you are and your comfort level with taking things apart. To change the plugs you will have to remove the seat and gas tank and the 2 front engine braces. Not terribly hard. I suggest iridiums going back in. Carbs being synced is probably not a bad idea either. But at 40,000 have the valves been checked for clearances? Should think about that. Now at a dealer I have heard the costs are down right scary. We shall see what others have as suggestions.

HMMM I'm thinking. I have an HID and wonder how it is is in comparison. -
It dont exist from the rules I have seen.

WOW I just looked at the article. Those are the same rules that a 15yr old restricted motorcycle licence had when I first started. How do they know if you have been riding 6 month or 6 yr and have a passenger? Here in Fla under 21 I think it is has a different color plate. I think it makes more sense to me to have a different licence for size of bike. I mean you could just get your licence and go buy a hyabusa or something? That dont make much sense in my book.

They let us into Canada last year with DOT helmets. We entered over by Syracuse Ny and went out by Niagara Falls. Never got hassled. Maybe because they new we were from the colonies.

TX2Sturges: you made me think there for a minute on your post. What if the guy aslo does parades? With his flags? Flags aint going to make any difference @ parade speeds, but the slipping of the clutch for parades could really shorten up the life and also warp the plates. I would almost bet that more than the flags toasted the clutch. I have worked in a car dealership off and on. It is crazy some of the stuff that get warrantied and then some stuff you think should they deny.

I built a homemade headset for my half helmet after doing some reading up. A fellow did it and used a pair of earbuds for the mic. So I went to the dollar store and got a pair. I can tell you that the little wires in there are about the size of 2 hairs. And to try to solder them was a real PIA. I would say depending on what kind of cord you need try Radio Shack and get one of the larger diameter "extension" cords.

LED Ask Flyinfool questions about lighting up a 1st Gen. I think he has a book out on it. -
Funny when I first started reading it, I figured somehow it was going to come back to "not a HD " part. I like the comment about passengers wearing the garb so it would be covered on warranty. By a Victory.

LOL thats the way to do it.

Yamaha electro tester
djh3 replied to acollaro's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Spark plug gap tester??? Really? I mean we use to test them on an old SUn machine used for tune ups. But heck in the last heck 25 years I haven had a need. I have a tool that goes in place of the plug to test to see if you have spark. Plugs ain't that expensive, I just throw them out. -
celticrhune: you da man. Knowing you, ya probably got packing to go in the muffs he currently is running. What about packing it with like 00 or the next higher steel wool? That is if the tips come off and baffles come out. Seems to me M61A1MECH just did that with a set of BUBs

Hd screamin eagle stock cvo mufflers
djh3 replied to Bert2006's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
WOW close to $150. I dont know if they would sound much more different than a stock pair of RK muffs. Maybe a little louder I dont know. You would think being they are Screamin Eagles they would be louder. Evidently not loud enough for the Harley guy getting rid of them. -
I'm good with that. Now all we need is which day. 14th Sat or Sun the 15th and a round bout time. I'll toss the by-pass kit in the bike.
-
The Road King muffs are a good option for you in your situation I think. Check a Harley dealr. They may have some take offs they will get rid of for cheap. then to mount them up heck you can probably use the same brackets you have. I would poke a guess the ones you have now were made for a HD and someone put them on the RSV. If not and you need a semi easy way to mount up the Road King muffs you can mount them with a 3/4" P clamp from Home Depot or the like. No matter what you do your going to have to take the bags off to make the swap. The P clamp goes around the bar under the bag in the rear and then a 5/16 (I think) bolt goes in the Muffler. I used a couple of 2" stainless steel hose clamps as muffler clamps.

LOL Midland/Odessa mid-sized:rotf: Unless they changed a ton from when I had to drive thru there. But I will say I never had to get off the expressway either. We always joked about them being 900 miles from anything.

PHEW for a minute there I thought someone feel off their motorcycle and bumped their head serious.

8 Blinks fuel guage, no start
djh3 replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
E-mail sent with info to Seaking. Here is a article on how to "rebuild" or clean up your old switch. If your game it may get you quite a few more years out of it with the by-pass relay installed, as the high amps will no longer go thru the switch and burn the contacts. -
On my 765t it is "lifetime" traffic. So I dont pay, but if I did it would be gone. I can only think of 1 time it has helped me out. Most times it will show red and say 5 min delay. But to actually figure out where the delay is so you can decide what you want to do is a whole new can of worms, and on the bike.......fa geta bout it. Not all city's and regions play the game either. Charlotte NC does, but Jacksonville Fla dont from what I remember. So its hit an miss at best.
