  1. I know of a fellow that worked for ski do I think it was. He was on a team that took care of the sleds they used in north pole and the like. Kind of like trucks more than sleds. Thats what this one looks like to me.
  2. Provided the sync is good, I think it point to the idle circuit of carbs. More than likely it just has some sort of gunk in it from sitting. We use to take air filter off car, bring rev up and then close off top of carb with hand or a rag until it about quit. Then let it stablize out and do it agin. On the bike I would guess for all the carbs.
  3. Congrats. I have been tearing up and working on my own stuff since I could drive/ride. I'm not sure I would have tackled that job. Excellent, now I hope you get a chance to get out and ride.

    SNAKE!!!!

Bob I think they call that natural selection or something. Thats the problem we have down here with these exotic snakes these jacka$$ have had as pets and decided are to much of a pain to feed now, or they escaped way back during hurricane Andrew in Miami. They just caught one yesterday in a neighborhood over Tampa way 12 foot long killing neighborhood pets. they have no enemies here in Fla because they aint from around here.
  5. Dale, it is a pretty simple job as the other guys have said. I have a cut off piece of 2x2 about 5" long. I put it under the kick stand, this allows the bike to almost be straight up. you need this for two reasons. It will drain all the oil out, and for checking the level. When you get the oil filter off, take a look up there and make sure the old black "O" ring is not on there. Believe it or not I have removed an old filter when I worked in a garage and figured I would just look at the filter. If the ring is on the filter I'm good right? Well someone prior to me had not checked the surface and sure enough one was stuck up there. Luckily for them it sealed up. So first time thru take a look. As has been mentioned no more than half way between the lines on the sight glass or it will push oil mist out and you will have a mess. When you put the 3 qt in, start it up and idle it a minute or 2. then stop and let sit a couple minutes. Recheck the level and finnish. Remember you will probably have to tip the bike a tad to the right to level it still. A lot of us use the Shell Rotella T-6 syn oil, some use the dino oil. I like the purolator PL14610 oil filter or L14610. They are a little bit longer and will fit and give you more filtering area. But thats another whole 1000+ threads you can read.
  6. Youll go where your told! Just like me. Lol I lived up Port Huron way in a little town called Sandusky. Alpena use to be kind of busy when air base was there, but have heard since is closed its sort of dead.
  7. I have seen those both before. But still funny. When I was a crew chief flying actually on my MEL was speed tape ( a metal version of duct tape sort of) 2 part epoxy, fuel leak stick (a putty like substance you could temp plug a fuel leak with) and clear helicopter tape.

    SNAKE!!!!

Yea unfortunately, growing up here in western central parts of Fla as a kid and then moving to Oklahoma, my general education on snakes is DEAD. I think every poisonous snake alive in the US lives in Fla, and now we got a big problem with snakes that don't even belong on this continent, Pythons and Anacondas dumb a$$ thought would be a good pet. Really?? Oklahoma, only snakes I ever saw out there were either diamond back rattlers, Water Moccasins a couple sidewinders, everything deadly. Creepy slimy things, sort of like lawyers.
  9. The end top two screws on the backside that actually hold the chrome piece on. I will put them in place, and set the other screws in the holes then push down on the chrome and tighten the screws from bottom up until I get to those 2. they are the last screws I tighten.
  10. My problem with the ride on is I like the balance beads. I would think when you put the goop in the beads would make one big ball of yuck.
  11. A strip of window tint if you got some excess laying around would probably cover it.
  12. I almost think the "surge brakes" would be good on a trailer for a bike. As the weight comes forward, the coupler slides and applies the brakes.
  13. I was spending some time the other day looking up filters. One I looked up spec was the fram MC filter. I wont run one by choice but was looking for pressure relief valve. Both the Fram and the purolator l 14610 have 1 psi relief.
  14. Over on the Kawasaki forums when I got my 900 vulcan a few guys were making them out of 2x12 or something. Good enough to change oil or something, but dont think I want to try to change a tire.
  15. Maybe an important text the truck had to see?
  16. Sad to say this happens to often on the narrow back roads we as motorcyclist enjoy. you get big trucks that probably should not be on them and they cant make a "legal" corner on the road. The Dragon use to have some terrible ones before they stopped allowing semi up there.
  17. Kirby, I got tired of the always on woosh. I bought a pair of the inline on/off mute buttons. Works good for us. The other thing I have done lately is I made a connector to run my earbuds along with the headset. Thus I dont have to run the volume so high on IC and radio etc to hear it. Before radio would be say 12-14 now is at about 8-10 maybe less. IC use to have to be up around 14 now @ 6=7
  18. I will tell you where I would start looking next. Does the bike have passing lights installed? Are they on a relay. Look up under by the front forks. The wires for the signals and fog/passing lights run sort of under in front and go in an area that is by the turn stops for the forks. Mine got pinched in there and shorted out the lights. The dealer wires in the passing lights with a guillotine lock to the headlight, so if something goes wrong with passing lights and shorts out it takes the headlight with it.
  19. this kind of thing has to me always been the achilles heel of electronic ignition parts. work now, then maybe not, then maybe. And no parts house will guarantee stuff once it leaves the door. but for the most part its pretty reliable stuff. But when it goes bad, brother as you have seen it can be a snowball effect. One part goes bad, draws more juice and burns something else up and .......
  20. Barry, is this helmet set up for bluetooth? Or you just looking for similar set up as venture only in I think its 7 pin formatt
  21. In reality if its name brand fuse IE: Buss, Little fuse etc they are the same weather they come from wally world or parts house. I would however look into the wiring of the passing lights. They are notorious for putting the glass fuse jobs in and not using a relay and just tacking into the headlight circuit. Then the passing light fuse looks like this one.
  22. I looked to be some sort of bonding agent when I looked at them the other day. but you couldn't really see on the mic part where it was attached. like existing solder or anything. From my own searches J&M and sierra and edsets look to be $60+ for a mic. for about $20 more you get all new stuff. I am messing around building a homemade headset and so far the mic has been my stumbling block. I have been busy on another project of lately here so thats been on the back burner.
  23. those type hub caps are available for golf carts also. Nice looking piece.
  24. I want to get some LED jobs and mount them off the two bolts that hold the lowers on. I have not yet sit down to figure out how I want to stand them off from the body work. also not sold on shape I want. Rectangle, square, round.
  25. since doing quite a bit of OHM checking here lately (way more than I want to) and seeing folks mention range setting. I noticed my Craftsman meter does not have any kind of range setting option. Closest one I can find was this. Looks pretty close dial wise for selections. http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/i/spin/image/spin_prod_40847701?hei=624&wid=624&qlt=50,0&op_sharpen=1&op_usm=0.9,0.5,0,0 I also have a couple of the $4 harbor freight jobs banging around somewhere.
