  1. I will take a shot. the factory type lights they simply put gillotin (scotch locks) on to make the connection to the headlight. Normally on low beam, so unless someone else wired it up the passing lights will work only on low beam. So you will have to follow the wires back to where it sources in, probably inside the headlight housing. Then check a ground while you in there. For simplicity sake make sure the bulbs are good. I would hate to see you jump thru all kinds of hoops only to have a bulb be bad. Toggle switch could be bad depending on quality, I have had a couple of the cheap type go bad inside. Really the lights need to be run thru a relay.
  2. Good job Vitto. And no I haven found a mic for you yet.
  3. Barry and everwho (thats a word I picked up from my boss in NC) Maybe middle part of Sept. Brian I know that prob wont work for you. But maybe the weather will cool of a bit and the rain thing will be done with afternoon constant rains. Brian good luck with the back surgery. I can tell you from experience the doc aint going to let you ride for at least 4-6 weeks. I am fighting a back issue now myself and already had surgery on it in 09.
  4. Yes bags have to come off. 4 bolts 2 towards the top front and rear and 2 in the bottom front and rearward center. I take all of them out except the front and save it for last so the bag does not get away from me and end up getting scratched. The rubber mount bushings will sometimes work their way out so make sure they are installed back in. On the mufflers a 10mm bolts up front and a hanger bolt under the bags. Take the hanger bolt out, loosen the front quite a bit.. Then I took the tail end of the muffler and gave it some side to side motion and once got some of that going then a little "round about" effort while pulling back.

  6. Dave and Barbie---That looks interesting. I think I have seen that before. I may look one of those up and install on my AUX input under the fairing. It could be wired straight in and hidden. I know if I use my phone for music I have to turn it way way up almost full blast to get the volume to where its useable.
  7. I have been looking to some different options. I just cant justify the over $150 or so for the LED bulbs (PAR 36 type) that go in there. I had bought a pair of adjuree housings that H# bulbs go in a few years back to get rid of the sealed beam jobs. they were better. I installed an HID headlight and man everything I thought was brite white now looks yellow. So I bought some cheap LED H3 bulbs. Not so good, look brite white but not alot of illumination. So now I have ordered some CREE LED bulbs to go in there. So I guess I will see how that goes.

My goodness how much stuff do you need to take? I manage to take enough for the wife and I or a week in the mountians plus chaps and warm jackets. So I dont know how much of what your trying to take. There are laundry facilities everywhere. Even if I travel solo a weeks worth is about all I pack.
  9. A couple buddies and I made a trip up that way last year to Bowmanville Ca, by Toronto. We stayed by Williamsport PA. This is the route we took up.
  10. Got me to thinking about adding some additional lights. Since I will not pay the $200 for the trucklite jobs it looks as though I may go with down on the forks by fender mout. 11. I know for a fact a fellow that lives out that way that is dang good with these bikes. Currently he is helping a fellow in the Delphi forums sort out an engine problem.
  12. Bring it on over I can do that. Congrats on the new to ya bike.

    Windshield

My 09 has developed a couple of hairline type cracks down by the screws. Its only a matter of time I suppose.
  14. Whats wrong with it? Mine has a couple scratches and dinks in it, but heck. You might want to think about painting it with plasti dip. My gas cap kept shining back into my eyes. I didnt want the old cup up can cooler thing so I painted it.
  15. As of now I'm in the sorting out mode. I like these headsets and I believe they would take care of the functions I want. but the flip side is, other than getting rid of the current wires I'm not really gaining anything. I still will have to run extra pieces of electronics to get radio to headsets, and I'm not for certain the intercom is going to be clear and un-noisy So many reviews say with a 3/4 it was noisy enough they had to shut it off with the jog button and reinitiate when they wanted to talk. Well heck I got the same thing now, but at least I have it fixed with a on/off inline mic mute. So I'm on hold basicly.
  16. Well being as we like our extras, now we need to know what they are, where they came from and how much were they? I keep thinking of some way to mount some extra lights down like off the bolt that holds the leg cowell on. I have a couple ideas but kind of depends on what is available for brackets.
  17. Good point on fuel level. One of first times I took mine off it had maybe 3/4 tank. Boy when I tilted it to sit down I thought it was going to jump out of my hands.
  18. So if music is running thru BT and you want to talk you tap the button. For us right now thats kind of where I'm at with the OEM deal. The open all the time mic makes so much wind noise I had to put mic cut outs on it to keep me from going bonkers. $450+ for the other jobs is way outta range for me. Thats better than 1/2 years insurance premium.
  19. I'm driving myself coo coo looking at videos. I saw one yesterday a fellow had a GPS, cell phone and mp3 player and intercom all working. There is a sequence he went thru so that the MP3 was stereo. I think he paired the GPS to SMH10, then the phone to the GPS, then MP# player via BT to headset. But did mention a step in there so the GPS connection was not stereo I think. . Bob do you see any reason a fellow couldn't connect the bike stereo thru a 3.5mm cable to the unit via its port if you have something like this wired up? I think it would be fine and save almost $200. (the wiring came from a GW site, but we all know its pin out is the same.)
  20. Could install a ignition by-pass relay while he's in there too, to keep switch from possibly causing problems later.
  21. Whatcha doin in there? 2012 bime cant be much wrong there.
  22. I was surfing looking at vidieos on the SMH10 headset. One of them mentioned when connecting to like a GPS to do a certain sequence like hold the jog button or something. Anyways it allowed the unit to use a connection that would allow the pairing to the mp3 player to be stereo. Almost like ther is a limited number of " channels" that are stereo.
  23. Hmm I have read some that say the 3/4 helmet is noisey and some say its fine. So far 50/50 I am thinking that to use the radio on the bike all I need is a BT dongle transmitter I think is what its called. I already have a 3.5mm out put from the intercom/radio as I use ear buds now. So I should be able to connect the dongle there and get music etc from that if I chose. But for the passenger to hear either say my phone I'm using for music or the bike via the dongle thing, wouldn't they just have to "pair" to it? We both currently have Bell Mag 8,so same as Mag 9 just the earlier version basicly and no special place for BT, so regular brackets.
  24. Possibly with this? I dont know, CB is not a big deal to me. I think I have turned it one twice since I have owned the bike. Probably will have to investigate how to make the bike stereo operate over the wireless headset.
  25. Watched and read a bit on the 5 vs 10. I could probable get by with the 5,truthbe told. But the 10 seemed to have a couple more features. But danged if I can remember what they are now, past the 5 having FM radio. Bob now your goning to make me think to hard. I will shoot you a PM or e-mail tomorrow maybe to see what you have.
