I dunno. My days on a scrambler were kind of short maybe 2yr. I started on a 100 Hodaka. Light and for its size good power if I remember rite. I ran them for a local bike shop. To me a scrambler needs to be light weight and easy to get around the creeks and powerful enough to get up the hill. @ over 400# not sure how much I want to wheel this in the bush. Now the most powerful bike I remember riding in the woods (never raced one) was the old Bultaco 250. I just dont see a need for 70hp when you spend a lot of time in 2nd gear. I think the military version of the KLR which is diesel would be cool on the market for all to buy and dont know why someone has not came out with one given the popularity with diesel fuel throughout the world.

I have thought about the "gapless" plugs also, some are called center fire or maybe rim fire. But they are like the plugs that use to be in the old recip aircraft engines. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51iTygKzwGL._SL500_AA300_.jpg or what about these types. http://www.boschautoparts.com/SparkPlugs/PublishingImages/IRFusionPlug238.jpgI think the latter brings the same point. Spark is only going to jump @ one point.

Best Battery for a 2007 RSV ?
djh3 replied to Jimbob66's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I bought mine an agm battery from Bohannon battery. I think it was about $80 or so shipped to my door. It was a Deka. -
Check with Buddy. But last I knew he was experiencing a suppy problem of a part he needed. And the post office did us in too. I ended up with a similar cable from ed sets I think, that a member had for sale used at the time.

Also some of you old farts might remember the old trick of shoving a potato up the tail pipe of a car. Then they didn't run so s#it hot either. Long before the days of cat converters.

Bob just wondering and poking questions. but have the stations up that away started with the "winter blend" fuel yet? My 2nd gen on the highway I pretty much get 35. So yours dont really sound off that much to me. What about a carb sync? You would think theory wise that the plug is supposed to fire 2 sparks from the prong it would get a bigger bang and combust better. But one of the ideas tossed at me when I asked some of the engine tuners for race teams I know about that type of plug was "you dont see any of us using them do you?" or "your forcing the spark to pick 2 places to jump across now, so it needs a bigger spark (coil)"

Are both filament blowing out or just the low or high? You say you had to replace it on the road. So how old was the one you took out? If there is anyway you could close the connectors in the headlight plug I would think making sure it has a positive connection would be a good thing. I sure would not put the expensive bulb in to replace like the silver star or that ype. It may be just a fluke and you got a bad bulb.

Bob I can tell you I was sponored by split fire a similar type plug. I ran them in my FJ 1200 motor with mixed results. First couple weeks were ok. But then started. Acting like was fouled out. Turned out they were killing the ecm box. Burned 2 up and I threw them in trash.

Condor: About 5 line down

I have a similar set from Home Depot for screws. they worked really great for the messed up screws that were down in a hole I couldn't get a regular extractor in.

Any 5 pin set up should work. Honda, Harley and Yamaha all used basically the same plug as long as its a 5 pin. J&M, there is one that is an "I" something or another. Search here in the audio-gps section and see what you come up with. Truthfully a month or so back I was looking at going bluetooth and replacing my wired stuff. I think if I was to spend the money again I would seriously consider it. Sena seems to be a popular brand and good equipment.

I have to laugh a little. I read about 4 lines or so down. shortly after the replacing CAT muffler etc I'm thinking "this sounds an awful lot like a collapsed inner exhaust pipe" I had this happen on me when I worked in a garage early in my automotive career. I was kind of struggling at stuff to look at. My boss walks over, nonchalantly asked a couple questions and said remove the tail pipe here and then here and see if it runs better. The cross over pipe was double walled and had collapsed inside. Live and learn. Bet next time you pick right up on it.

Reasonable pricing. At that price I dont know why someone would by a similar type camera like I was looking at from Tiger Direct that I had not heard of before. The price was like $89 or something.

I fixed the link in my post

I have not noticed a degrade ride, but under recomendation of a couple fellow riders on another board Im on I did change the oil. I went a bit heavier with, the 10w also. Still run about 4lb air but the feel is less bumpy if that makes any sense.

So has anyone have experience with these type CREE LED bulbs[. They go in a standard type housing for an H3 bulb. I have ajure housings that originally came with 35w halogens. I swapped them for some LED jobs but they are not like these. The ones I have currently make very little usable light at night. the ones I have linked the seller tells me are 1000 lum

Motorcycle Alarm and/or Caliper Lock ... What To Get

I kind of chuckle when I see the "chain it up" idea. Here is why. I was in Homestead Miami for the NASCAR race a couple years back. We were at a smaller Comfort Inn I think it was. so the overhang by front desk has these 4 poles. This group of 4 or so guys come in, check in and go to dinner. when we came back from dinner these guys were by the pool having a cold drink and I noticed this one nice Street Glide with a huge ol log chain around the bike (I think thru the wheel) and around this corroded aluminum pole that if you kicked it would probably give way. so the moral of the story is, look at the weakest link in your security. -
I bought a Sync Pro off a member here. He had built the home made job with the clear tubing and ATF I think is what he used. I cleaned it up (the fluid init was about all dried up) and I use 2 stroke oil in it. works good for me. The mercury jobs worked really well and were smooth, but due to the mercury in them you have to be careful when you rev the bike and also some states will not allow you to buy or ship the chemical to their states.

I had read an article in a VA news letter or VFW news letter somewhere in the last year or so about the last few of these brave men. I do remember them saying he was not in good health. Awesome job they did using their Native skills and up bringing to win the war. Now if we can figure out some way to get the traitor out of country and let them go live in the sand box over there like they think is so great, we will be all set.

CATpower, if the LEO gave you a hassle over reflectors on the side of your motorcycle he must have had either a really slow day or a bad one.

My problem with the Insurance company "tracking device" is they can use it against you. you tell them you drive X amount in this car and when you are renewing the next year and they ask what you drive and how much they can look it up. same with the bike. Say you tell them you ride 6k a year. Then when you do 16K they want to jack your rates all up. some of the devices plug into the newer cars on board port. It can give such info as speed, time of day, length of trips and driving tendencies. IE hard braking, jerking from one lane to the next and that sort of thing. all done off the ECM and BCM and gyros. ain't technology great?
