  1. I have "hacked" repairs for years. Some because I had to and some because at the time I didnt know any better. LOL The crimping is not an art, but it is definitely a learned skill. I just bought a new "automatic" stripper as I am requiring one more and it speeds my process up a little. for the average fellow the plier things that come in a basic butt connector, wire end kit will serve well for years. Mine has. A simple crimper like this will work for years. You can find them with a larger assortment of crimps I think at auto parts store or harbor freight if you go there.
  2. Yup I dislike the bullet type unless thats the OEM type like on signals etc. I just will simply not use the guillotine scotch lock type. Sometimes its all you can use, but sooner or later they will come back to haunt you.
  3. OK I have went into the settings and found the place at very bottom of page when it asks about Exclude forums from "What's New" highlighted the "links to craigslist/ebay" but still when I come back and select the whats new button a ton of the threads are this craigslist garbage. HOW do I eliminate this. I had almost an entire page of this.
  4. Must be takin a nap. Its laying down in most pictures.
  5. Thanks. Takes awhile to fine tune this new site to my liking. WOW after fixing this in my profile I went looking at new posts. NOW I see what your talking about. OMG it looks like someone copied the want ads from the Detroit free press or something. there mus be 50 entries for stuff for sale. Surely one fellow dont have all that crap for sale.
  6. Someone is pulling your leg on the "illeagle" thing. Now the store policey may be a different thing. A year or so ago I found replacement tires for my 3/4 ton truck at Wally World. Thought it was good price about $100 ea. But alas once the fellow saw what they were going on they became $135 or something a piece. Because they would not mount a "p" metric tire on an "lt" rated vehicle. I understand the gvw rating on tire is more for the 3/4 ton tire, but I dont haul anything except me. But its the liability thing. So when I needed a pair of tires for the front this summer, I just went in picked them out and carried them out the door. Mounted them up myself and poured in dyna beads. You may check out one of yout used tire shops if you have any, they may mount them up for you.
  7. Sounds like a belt separation. More you ride, the more the pressure builds. Then it spreads the plys.

    Scratches

I have one in a saddle bag. My bags a red and black and the scratch shows up as white sort of. i figure that scratch is down to the base or primer or something. I have thought about maybe just using a sharpie to try t cover it up, but what if the color is to far off? So I have just left it alone. Your looks as though maybe you could try some of the color scratch remover stuff.
  9. Have to plug Steves kit. He can also custom make one I think with run/brake and turn if I remeber rite.
  10. Long as it stays pointed north.
  11. I have worked at my current job with a couple of retire Navy carrier men. some of the stories I don't know if I should believe them or not. But I am sure some of the USAF stories I exchanged with them they think the same thing. LOL My AF carrier is a big part of my life and morals etc. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thanks guys one and all for your service. I know some of you all served like me long before the current gratification our soldiers, sailors and airmen get now.

    Close Call

I was pretty upset once I got the tire dismounted. I originally thought I would just plug it and press on, take my trip etc. But I knew I was going to have the wife and extra gear etc on our 1500+ mile trip so, whats a couple hours of pulling the tire and putting a proper patch on it. Right? So the first pic you can sort of see its about maybe an 1/8 wide. Look closely it almost blends in with tread pattern. Second pic is to show how long it was. and the position. Thus why I elected to change the tire. I figured under acceleration etc it would just pull the tire apart. 3rd pic is the 17.5k Michelin Commander 2 Still tread left but I thought I should put new shoes on it before a long trip.
  13. In the fridge? I dunno seriously. Maybe something here will hep you out.
  14. Looks like a Honda mini trail 50. Only the motor is missing. So surely instead of the puny 1hp motor your going to upgrade rite?

You keep good rubber on them and think it exempts, you. Mine had 1500 miles on it. I must have run over something odd. It cut the tire length wise right in a groove. Once I got tire dismounted and could see how it was cut, I didnt feel safe patching it. To me it looked like when you would accelerate it would be pulling the cut open/ apart. So pitched it. I did thank the,man above for getting me woo'ed down safely.

    130 vs 150

Check motorcycle superstore. I had the MC2 and loved them. Over 17k on them and had tread left but I was going on a trip and changed them a bit early to avoid any possible issues in rain loaded. Be sure to shop around including shipping.

I had my OH S#/÷ moment a few weeks back. Luckly I was only about 45. Something just didnt feel right. Stopped and sure enough I could see the rear was soft. Made it about 80ft or so to a driveway and she was flat. I had stuff to plug it and made it home. But it was a scary deal.
  19. Old habits are hard to change. Im on blue.
  20. I dont know. she hasn't told me yet.
  21. The C2 has more groves that "criss cross" the tire than the E3. That is why I liked the C2 better. In rain I did not feel as stable as with the E3. The dunlaps are a good tire, dont get me wrong, but the tread pattern on the C2 is better at getting water out from under the wheel to me. C2
  22. Hmm so will it run at say 60mph? Does it accelerate up thru the bottom gears Ok. I have read of heavier doses of seafoam fouling plugs out. Migh be worth pulling the plugs and clean and setting them. I think I would start there. If cleaning plugs dont fix it look to fuel supply, filter first and then the pump.
  23. I just changed from the narrower front C2 to a oem size in a Shinko. After having my MC2 on for over 17k I had to kind of re-learn to ride. I like the C2 tires and would probably spend the bucks to go back when the Shinkos are done. For a less expensive tire the Shinkos are not bad. But need to see what kind of milage they will go. Also the C2 has a higher weight rating than most tires for the 2nd gen.
  24. Yea I bet that was not a one take shoot.
  25. Huh? What was the question again, I forgot. Excersize, never mind I dont want any.
