  1. You are a lucky man if you can get your older wife to kneel down and check the oil level in your RSTD. My wife will provide reverse and wash the windshield at times but that is it. A dipstick would be a great improvement.
  2. We passed right by the super 8 in Laramie. I only wished I would have seen their recognizable bikes. I would have surprised them.
  3. Made me laugh. Anxious to see which side is dirty?

My wife and I were married in 1981. We purchased a new Honda CB900 custom. Now that I look at your picture again. I believe my bike was a darker shade of blue. I think our was a 1981 model. I loved the dual range transmission also. Made a long trip to my sisters in Kennewick WA pulling a car top trailer.
  5. Glad you are safe.

My first serious road bike was identical to yours. Same color and luggage. Welcome to the site.
  7. Welcome to the site. I hope you stick around.
  8. Hello Brad: Thanks so much for the offer. I would love to do that!!!! Not likely going to happen but one never knows. Thanks again.
  9. Hello: I am sad that we could not make the IR after all. I was hoping to see everyone. Even more disappointed that I have not been watching the postings here and FB closer. I learned that Annie and Quick Step overnighted in Laramie last night. We stopped in Laramie for fuel and donned our rain gear before heading on to Saratoga about 5:00 last night. Beautiful 275 mile ride for us yesterday.
  10. Welcome to the site.
  11. Nice read!!!! Interesting.
  12. Welcome to the site. Great group of people:)
  13. Neat idea.
  14. Prayers sent your way. Keep thinking positive.
  15. Hello: I originally installed a "Wompus" rack. $225 if I remeber correctly. I have since replaced the smaller orignal trunk with a Harley Tour pack. I chose to keep the Wompus rack and I mounted the Tour Pack to it. Nothing is cheap. I got by with about $750 total. I like it more every day I have it. Others have replaced the RSTD side rails with RSV rails and a RSV rack, $375?? and then installed a Tour pack to the RSV rack. TDbiker, LoneEagle, myself and numberous others have went this route. I have the best of both worlds. Dependable V-4 Yamaha and a large side open tour pack. Encreased lighting. Works for me.
  16. Hello Don: I read this entire humorous thread. Being the site owner has its down sides!!! Kind of like reading as the world turns. Congrats on the new bike. I had to laugh yesterday. 4 Harley's parked infront of the local Yamaha store. One never knows. Enjoy.
  17. Hello: I stopped to make a service call in Wednesday, surprized to spot another 05 RSTD in the parking lot of my customer. We live in a 3 town area with a population of 25,000 people. I know most of bike owners. I asked around and discovered the owner relocated here from Texas a couple of years ago and has not ridden his bike much. Very nice guy. Just him and his wife. (She likes to ride on the RSTD with him). I invited him to join the VR site. He mentioned he wanted to add a trunk to his RSTD. I offered to let him take a look at my Tour Pack. Met him on the road yesterday as I was leaving for Fort Collins. I look forward to riding with Steve and sure hope he joins the site.
  18. Hello: I got in some saddle time this week. I was able to make a few service calls on the bike on Monday and Tuesday. 200 miles on Monday. 100 miles on Tuesday. Took yesterday off. Patroman46 joined me and we made 3 states and 360 miles. Stopped several new places in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado. Dan lead on the way home from Fort Collins. Motored over to Severence CO and then south for a ways and back around to Hereford CO. Stopped for pie in Hereford, owner told us we were SOL . Left empty handed but enjoyed our visit with Jodee. North to Pinebluffs for fuel. (Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo Queens were pretty) . Albin, LaGrange and then back home. Had a great day.
  19. When I was a kid we had a squirrel get in the house. We trapped it and sprayed painted him John Deere Green and released him. A few weeks later he was back in the house again. Never did figure out how he was getting in. Sold the house a few months later and moved to the country. New owners problem then.
  20. Thanks guys for the 4:30 AM morning laugh!!!!!!
  21. Hello: That sounds like the breakfast that is held at the Sturgis Highschool. Great place to meet others. Lots of parking. Several of us met there last year. Unfortunetly we will not be riding up until Friday the 9th. I hope others will join you.
  22. Hello Chris: Welcome to the site. As stated, some bikes have the whine or chirping more than others and it occurs at different speeds. I really like my tour deluxe. A lot of bike for the money in my opinion. I hope you find a resolution and stick around this wonderful site. Keep us posted.
  23. Welcome to the site. Dulop E3's are my reccomendation. Some owners suggest a narrower front tire to improve the slow speed handling.
  24. Hello David: Sorry to hear you are having bike issues. Have you by chance used the search tab? I typed in "Blown main fuse" 5th thread down from the top has a lot of good useful information. Good luck. Keep us posted.
