  1. Well, we are counting down the days til Mike has the knee scope. I think as of today he's ready to be feeling better. Saturday was his last day of mobic and the Voltaren topical gel until sometime postop. Surgery is sometime fri. I'm hoping he's a 7am surgery so I can get him home by noon. I did some grocery shopping today. Got a couple of chuck roasts, going to turn one into pot roast on thurs so I don't have to fuss about anything but him all weekend. Surgeon is repairing a torn meniscus, mcl, and they think they saw a tumor on his knee when they did the MRI. Surgeon says he can ride again 2 weeks from fri. I laughed because I knew our orthopedist raced cars, didn't know he also rode, but he didn't even pause when asked about riding, just said he'd take extra care to get the knee taken care of. Thankfully at least one cat seems to be on the mend. Or this feeding her and fluids stuff would be life threateningly complicated on fri. Feel free to pass along well wishes I will make sure he gets em. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  2. I'm 41 and would love to turn the 2004 suzuki volusia on my carport into a trike. Yeah I know I have a disability, but doesn't mean I don't wanna enjoy the wind any less that the rest of you. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  3. Nope, sounds like their databases need updating. I think they are confusing the stratoliner with the Venture, although the strat is a 1700cc I think. On that part, I would have a local dealer verify the database is incorrect for them. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  4. Howard himself is 20+yrs sober. I grew up around addiction in my own family. Though all my living relatives that had been addicted are clean now, they always treated it like it was a big joke. They quit so no big deal, they got over it. I've heard a lot about our friend's son over the yrs. Plenty on his heroin addiction and exploits. It wasn't unexpected to get the news. It's abt the timing. Our friend turned 58 Wed, he got the call thurs morning.
  5. Yesterday I got a message I've dreaded for a while now. We have a local friend that's kinda a surrogate Dad to us and has been for years that got the worst news a parent can get. His son who has had drug and alcohol problems since his teens was found dead behind his favorite bar yesterday morning in Seatac Washington. Though I have never met the son I empathize with the loss. Addiction is brutal and cruel both to the addicted and their loved ones. Our friend had a birthday Wed, and sadly his birthday present was losing his only son. Tomorrow he flies to Washington to make arrangements. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  6. Not me! Get well soon tho. At least the furballs here are getting well in time for Mike to have surgery next week. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  7. It wasn't the bikes we towed, it was our conversion van. But they make no distinction between car or bike on towing. The van needed a new Alternator and hubby was at work. The GEICO and the tow company said it was $150 to go 30miles to the house, but free to take it to the nearest dealer. So we paid the $150 to bring it home and have hubby's Dad do the work himself. Frustrating but better. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  8. My parents bought an old 44 willis jeep when I was little and the paint was looking a bit ragged. Let's say there was a bit of rust in places..... Mom wanted Dad to get the rust out of the body and work towards restoring it. Dad being older was starting to have some health issues he didn't already have said he wasn't putting more money and time into bodywork to restore a farm vehicle. So Mom went to the library and checked out books on automotive bodywork, learned how to remove the rust and loose paint with Dad's tools and set herself to work on that. She asked Dad to give her money to paint the Jeep, he refused to buy automotive paint, so she bought some sort of high gloss exterior paint and some quality brushes. Mom repainted the jeep by hand in an army style green, absolutely no brush strokes and a shine most car owners would envy. Dad said the paint would come off in no time since it wasn't meant for cars. But you know, when they sold the jeep some 15 yrs later it still looked as good that day as it did when she painted it. It was one of the things she felt accomplished about. 9. Mike and I signed up with GWRRA last yr. Our local club isn't our personal cup of tea, but Roadside service is excellent! Had to use it a couple times last yr. Ask Aussie Anne about her experience with GWRRA's roadside coverage on her trike. Rick Haywood had had their roadside coverage and got her towed to the nearest HD deale.r Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  10. Larry, we have GEICO too, they will only tow with 5miles of the nearest dealer, the mileage beyond that is your expense. Don't ask me how I know! Btw, we cancelled that coverage. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  11. Mike and I can't go, he has knee surgery in 2 weeks, the expense will hurt our savings in the coming months, so trips are out this year. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  12. The tv you picked is basically the 55in version of my tv. We love ours so much, yet we watch tv on it maybe 3 hrs/week. Glad you seem to be enjoy the new tv.
  13. I wasn't aware of that. I'll look into that. Dad was WW2 as well. I wanted more a history of his time served. He never talked of his service, ever. The only thing I do know is he was on the Bataan Death March. Even my brother who is 72 (to my 41) won't talk about it and he lived through Dad being away. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  14. The big warehouse fire in 72? Shouldn't affect getting the dd214 should it? I know I can't get my Dad's service records because of the fire....sucks. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  15. I'm in Lizella/west Macon. About 30-45mins from downtown warner robins. (Blame traffic lol) I'm in Warner Robins 2-3times/week. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  16. Greek Village 1801 Watson Blvd, Warner Robins, GA 31093 Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  17. They have the best gyros in the area, and I have eaten at all the greek places locally. All are great eating, but Greek Village has the best food. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  18. I know a Greek restaurant that is biker friendly. The food is excellent. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  19. I have never hosted a meet n eat locally, but if there's interest I can think of a couple of local places in the Macon/Warner Robins area that would love to host. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  20. Yesterday WAS beautiful! Today was much cooler, rainy, and not as nice. Hoping next weekend is lovely because this not riding stuff is bumming me out. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  21. Doc says he can be on the bike 2 weeks postop so he's a lot less worried now. Still not thrilled, but I know once he heals, he will be glad he did it. He's just so used to looking after me, he's not used to the roles swapping. We go back in 3 weeks to monitor the swelling in his knee. Preop is March 22nd. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  22. No recliner in the house, heck, no tv in the livingroom either. I'll have time to go do my thing. I will say honey, go play the wii, wii u, xbox, nvidia shield ( it allows him to stream pc games to the tv) Nintendo 64, super Nintendo, or Nintendo and have fun, I'll be back in a few hrs... Trust me, he has plenty of stuff to occupy him from bed lol. I've only been after him to get the knees checked out for 3 yrs. He took a nasty fall in our storage unit when he slipped and fell off a piece of furniture in our storage unit. His older game system got packed on the far side of the unit and he had to monkey boy climb to get to them. Our family doc thought he only sprained the right knee (surgery is on the left). However, he hasn't been without crutches or a cane for more than a few weeks at a time since that fall 3 years ago. It became his new normal to the point he never questioned it. I think my having cerebral palsy and related mobility issues skewed his thinking. I realize after surgery he won't be 100% again, but he should be very close to it. Then we need to address the other knee and see what he did to it. The good news in this was he doesn't appear to have rheumatoid arthritis. None of the tests showed a positive for that. I was worried about that. Tricia This is his view from the bed. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160218/c2bfa31246fe64be7935d9e76947bf85.jpg Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  23. I really don't think he knew how much pain he was in. The orthopedist was confused how a 36 yr old guy has arthritis like a 80 yr old... I said well, when you slip, fall, and slide 30ft on you knees because your dumb butt tried to walk across a freshly mopped linoleum floor in cowboy boots. And even after it looks like there's an injury and you say no docs, this is what happens... Doc resigned but agreed with me. And this is only his left knee. Still have to check the right knee. One knee at a time...right? Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  24. Thank you for the reminder. Also, keep in mind folks being we are an online forum that inflection and intent are hard to convey in text. We don't have body language to give us clues to these things online. Never easy to take a step back and look at the big picture. Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
  25. Normally he'd go back to work the next day, with me driving him, but the ortho doesn't want me to attempt to catch him if he falls since my left wrist and shoulder are bothering me. So he has to stay home for a week. He went yay, video game marathons...lol Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved.
