  4. Happy Birthday Kenny! aka Kbran... Say hi to Beth for me... Hopefully we'll meet down the road again someday! Dang! the time is flying!
  5. I think talking to your son and offering to come and get him is the right thing to do for starters. If he doesn't make plans to stay(motel) or quit driving drunk then it time to take it to a new level. All kids think nothing bad will happen to them. Most kids drink. 18-28 age group. Most kids that drink, drink and drive occasionally. Anyone that doesn't believe that, is very naive. To turn you son in, is going to cost him/you about 10K MIMIMUM and that is only if there isn't an accident or fatalitie(s). He could also loose his job and find it quite hard to find another as DWI a felony. Turning him in would be my last choice. If... you could find a police officer to talk to him, and really let it sink into him what he risks it could be pivotal moment in his life...
  6. I had a new 1977 RD 400 It was a carborated two cylinder, 2 cycle and definitely didn't get 60 mph... maybe 40 if you were cruising... Known for their acceleration, would wheelie easily in third gear. Mine was the same color as this "Red", except mine had light grey in between wheel spokes : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnpTMFZyMkg]yamaha rd 400 - YouTube[/ame] https://www.google.com/search?q=Yamaha+rd400+1977&rlz=1C1AVNA_enUS569US569&espv=210&es_sm=122&tbm=isch&imgil=2wnK6LpIV5b9PM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcQyd2OHvAeKlslRV8hWR6-F6YjZp6Ogz0QDhJv8xRZF7x5kWHwNLw%253B2240%253B1680%253BQg7_FYF3xbz40M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.daranok.com%25252Fthe-old-legend-yamaha-rd400-photos%25252Fstandard-1977-yamaha-rd400-in-marietta-photo%25252F&source=iu&usg=__gSJ6tldy5JzJu5qZpKG6SSWxuaY%3D&sa=X&ei=y_seU7P2Dqb-0gH0yIGQCw&ved=0CCkQ9QEwAA#facrc=_&imgdii=2wnK6LpIV5b9PM%3A%3BBNTWpFeBz1JLoM%3B2wnK6LpIV5b9PM%3A&imgrc=2wnK6LpIV5b9PM%253A%3BQg7_FYF3xbz40M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.daranok.com%252Fimages%252F2013%252F11%252Fyamaha-standard-1977-yamaha-rd400-in-marietta-photo-the-old-legend-yamaha-rd400-photos.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.daranok.com%252Fthe-old-legend-yamaha-rd400-photos%252Fstandard-1977-yamaha-rd400-in-marietta-photo%252F%3B2240%3B1680 That sound brings back good memmoies. EPA took out all two cycle streets in US back in 1979... P.S. It would seem that most all Yamaha's don't like the throttle twisted while the chokes on, even back then... LOL So... now they made it a neutered four cycle, beginner bike? "with what I expect is a compression release"? The shame of it all... Looks like they have been around since 1978, Ouuuuuuuch!
  7. Your a good man Eck! Not often that people actually watch out for our elderly...
  8. I hate moving.... Now you get to "rediscover" all that stuff you've been accumulating for years... Yea! Good luck!
  9. Unfortunately, I haven't had that pleasure... yet! However, with the warmer weather approaching, I fully intend to resolve that.. Maybe we can get Dan to let Garage Queen out? LOL
  10. Just out of curiosity, Why did you swap it out? Was it leaking?
  11. You're in for a Rude awakening, my friend...
  12. Maybe time to cut back on the caffine? Decaff maybe? Not to spoil this, but wait till Jeff finds out he will actually be doing more work now that he's retired....
  13. I stand corrected... the seal(s) do in fact push the pistons back, when the pressure on the brake fluid is reduced.... The main point was tying to get across is to change the brake fluid. It should be changed every 5-7 years or so... It's an 84 Right? Hopefully the piston and seal isn't compromised.
  14. Contaminated brake fluid... Flush it... There should be no drag, what so ever, on your rotors.... The hydraulic action will literally pull(vacum) the piston away from your brake pads... if... the fluid is not contaminated and seals are not compromised ... leaving no friction at all on the rotors...
  15. I just cracked open a Michelob Ultra... Happy Retirement and CHEERS!
  16. I guess $695 is not as bad. The $1 K I saw must have been for a Harley? The only negative thing I read on them is they won't hold your bike in place when you park on an incline in first gear. Trikes have a parking brake?
  17. You could replace the stock clutch springs every season for +20 years for the cost of that auto clutch. fibers and plates if in specs wouldn't need changed. Over $1K Ouuuuuch!
  18. Penny and I will continue to pay for him also, Dan. Someone that gave his all, so that others may be safe, deserves at least a 30 year retirement!
  19. Sorry to hear that. It's always hard when someone close to you, passes. Penny and I will pray for him, as well as the entire family and friends...
  20. You can only move 2nd gen handlebars an inch or so. More than that and they will hit the top of the tank. Most install risers to get the proper tank clearance then add handlebars to get them back to you. I'm sure someone on here will jump in and recommend their setup. I didn't need to do this as I've got long arms. Good luck!
  21. Dang you! I just wasted two hours this morning looking at those motorcycle videos.... They are kind of... addictive! Brings back memories... To bad those cameras weren't around when i was riding dirt bikes...LOL Thanks Joe
  22. Actually... If your really interested in longer distance rides, +500 mi per day your going to have to tweak the bike to fit you. I personally find the pillow top much more preferable to a mustang seat as the mustang is to hard, like corbins. Rode a bike across the US with the mustang seat and my tailbones were so sore I had to buy an Airhawk to make the trip back. May also need to install risers or handle bars so your not bending forward to them, arms need to be slightly bent with your back straight. Then add a utopia backrest and Kuryakyn foot pegs... I've gotta be careful on mine, because I could almost fall asleep on it crusing down the highway...
  23. Jeff, Hopefully your not out in that crap today. I made it as far as Beckley and had to turn around. Saw two tractor and trailer wrecks N. bound on turnpike, one close to the tamarac the other at the 77.5 mile marker. Also seen a tanker in front of me wagging his tail 4 or five times, didn't seem to be smart enough to increase this following distance. Then there was the Black Monte Carlo doing a 45 mph 360 going up the mountain there at the "facility" in the mountain. A good many of the roads south of Charlotte, NC to Georgia were closed. Might attempt the trip to Florida again next week.
