  1. My bike has been on the lift for the last week. New tires and such. Work on it when I have the time in the evening. I have alot of things that I want to take care of before it goes back on the road. I replaced the front and rear tires, had 22,000 miles on them! Well when I took the saddle bags off, I saw the rear brake disc was pretty well grooved up. Pads are gone. I knew it needed rear brake pads and I was hoping it was not that bad. But it is. So I called the dealer in Brighton. $270 for a disc!!!! I told him I only wanted the disc, not the whole flipping wheel!! He said that was just for the disc! Ummm, nope. Got online and found a brand new EBC disc in California for $132, shipped free..............$270.......THAT is why they are refered to as stealers!
  2. My father in-law had cam issues on his Ultra Classic. Cost him about 3k to repair it. I believe that was at about the 50k mile mark. He says he would never buy another one. He has not had good luck with it al all. It's a shame, it is a nice bike.
  3. I am 5'10" and have clearance between me and the seat when I stand. I sit flat footed on the bike.
  4. I dropped mine 3/4'" last year. What a differance. I currently have it on the lift for new tires and such. I am thinking about another 1/4". Not sure, but the 3/4 is definately worth it and noticable. I think you will like it and not regret doing it.
  5. I like seeing what my bike would look like triked. I think there is definately one in my future.
  6. You have just been lucky. Just go get a plate from the Secratary Of States office. It's a permanent plate. Never have to renew it. I am sure the ticket will be alot more than the plate.
  7. Best color and year yet!
  8. Yes he did and i will make sure something gets done on the price when I am there. But what gets me is I had the size written down on paper and looked right at the size on the tire! Hence the reason I am not pleased with myself. Plus I knew something was not right. Oh well, just make another day of it I guess.
  9. Refer to the above post!!!!
  10. I will be driving down Saturday or Sunday. The tires on the bike are shot. I would not trust them on a big ride, plus it will be on the lift this weekend. I have alot of stuff to do on it before it hits the road. I will get something together and we will go for a nice long ride...........actually, I was thinking of putting together a Bun Burner 1500 mile ride........... :whistling:
  11. Well, I am not real happy with myself. I went to Iron Pony two Saturdays ago. My wife and I make a yearly run down there in the spring. We drive down. It's about 180 miles each way. I picked up a set of tires, windshield bags, new helmet for her, clutch cover gasket, gloves and some wheel weights. When they brought out the tires, I looked at the front and told the guy that it looked too big. I had the size written down on a pice of paper, looked at the paper, looked at the tire and still did not catch that it was a 17 inch and not 16!!. I looked right at it! I was out in the garage installing the new seat on her 750 and started looking at the tire again. WALAH!!! I noticed it. So I guess I will not be mounting and balancing tires on Saturday. I will be going back to exchange it. Well theres a whole day and $60 in gas up a hogs rear.
  12. Tires for all vehicles have skyrocketed. It due to the price of oil. The price of a gaylord of plastic resin is ridiculous.
  13. It's a piece of...........ahhhhh.....piece of.........art.....yeah that's it....art!
  14. You can just chain it up at the motel. We towed ours through the Moonshiner 28 to Georgia, spent the night and towed it all the following day. Your not going to be zipping through the corners fast on a Venture anyways. But if your going to stay at the same motel at the end of the day, just leave it there.
  15. I went last year. Stayed in Pigeon Forge. Regency Inn. Not a 4 star but clean, plenty of parking and the price was right. Definately ride US-28 (Moonshiner28) into Georgia. Just as technical if not more than the Dragon. Klingmans Dome if you don't mind a walk up hill.
  16. I have had that happen twice. Once at a gas station and the other was my neighbor.
  17. That is sweet!!!. I would pull it with a trike.
  18. I would leave Michigan in a heartbeat, but the wife.....not so much. So does not want to leave her family. I do not know why, they would leave her. Once the parents are gone on both sides, I am going to push to get out.
  19. I get on the bike soon. I can't take much more of this PMS.....(Parked Motorcycle Syndrome)
  20. I could not wait for Yammie to do something. I made my own guage faceplate. Cassette is gone!
  21. I was not offended, I wuz just sayin' Plus it's hard not to get your panties in a bunch when you wear thongs :whistling:
  22. Nice ride larry. You will like the Nissan. I had a 2002 Xterra Supercharged that we bought new. It had 231,000 miles on it. We just traded it in on a 2013 Honda CRV EX-L for Mary. I got her 2007 Toyota 4Runner.
  23. I agree, why buy a new RSV when it has not changed since 1999? As long as poeple keep buying them new, why change them? If you look the bike over, take it for a spin, you can tell if it has been well maintained. As far as the RSV being the best bike out there...my 07 is the only one I have ever had so I cannot make that statement. I do know my brother in-law (who is a member here) just traded his Midnight in on a new Victory the other day. I have stated before that if I was in the market for a new scoot, I would look elsewhere. I could not plunk down 20k for a bike with a cassette deck in it. It just goes against my grain. There is absolutely no reason Yamaha cannot offer a direct replacement for the cassette. They can build a gauge pod to fit right in there with all the hook ups. I bet alot of those units would get sold.
  24. Yup, my wife bought me a SOA t-shirt. I use it as a rag. I told before that I have no interest in that stuff, but she still does it. We were at a bike show and a guy was wearing one and I even told her that I thought he maybe asking for trouble. Never listens, so I got a $15 rag for out in the garage.
  25. When I left for work this morning I looked at my bike sitting there all covered up. I gave it a hug.
