  1. We did Colorado two years ago. From our hotel in Colorado Springs to our driveway was about 1350 miles. We left for home on a Saturday morning at 5am, rode until 9pm, up on Sunday and on the bike at 6am and we pulled into our driveway at 2:30pm that Sunday. They way we travel is we would rather be on the road a few extra hours than sitting in a motel room. It's a long ride, but very doable in 2 1/2 days. Plus we will probably be going by ourselves so gas stops are pretty much just that, gas, bathroom, back on the bike. So we won't have to wait for others. We made way better time coming home from Colrado than going out. We went out with 3 other bikes. Took way too long getting out there. But we were by ourselves coming home so we made really good time. My wife, real trooper. If she had to go, she waited until a gas stop. Never complained once. If she really had to, she told me, otherwise we rode.
  2. I said it before and I am going to say it again. Lane splitting is dumb, unsafe, irresponsible, arrogant riding. And I said it before and I am going to say it again, if a biker splits a lane and side swipes my cage, I WILL do my damnest to catch them and put an beat down on them like they have never had before. I am a biker and it pi$$e$ me off when a clown zips up right next to me. I am not looking for someone or expecting it. If your in a traffic jam....well just sit your happy a$$ on that bike and wait with everyone else. Your no better than the guy in the cage, you think you are, but your not. I have sat in plenty of 100 degree days on the freeway on my way home, Even if it was legal, I ain't gonna do it. Why????? Because I ain't any better than the person in front of me. But then again.............this IS just my opinion and you know what they say about those............
  3. I am neither so it will have to be over priced hotels
  4. I think if you want to tow your bikes and stay in a motorhome, do it. Your not going to be the only ones. I want to go to Sturgis once in my liftime. Yeah, it's going to be crowded, but that's part of the fun and ambiance. I know someone that goes every year. What's the worst thing that can happen? You may enjoy yourself, you may not. But you'll never know UNLESS YOU GO!!
  5. That looks nice. Definately a consideration! Thanx!!
  6. This is the one I was talking about.
  7. Well Carl, I may have to reconsider buying the HF lift as to a maybe to a probably not. I really would like one, but it sounds like more of a pain than what it would be worth for my use. I do have the HF lift that has the forks that lift like a hilo. Works good. Needs a few modifications to stiffen it up a bit, but all in all, works for most of what I need.
  8. Another thing I will not do, ride down the shoulder. Not because of cars/trucks swerving over, but because of debris. I sit in traffic daily on I-696 west from Groesbeck to I-96 and I see that's where all the broken headlight/tail lights, wood, glass etc is at. Considering I do not carry a spare on the RSV, I stay off of that too!
  9. I see in some of the hotels they say free parking so I figured that parking on the street was paid. Not sure where we are staying, I just started to look yesterday. I did notice you have to read the reviews AND the hotel description. One sounded good until they said it was clothing optional......for men!! Not gonna stay there!!!!
  10. I will check that out when it gets closer. Thanks.
  11. Not sure. I-75 down then???? Getting a place reserved is first priority, then I will figure out a route. Prettty much straight there no side trips, then on the way home maybe do some other site seeing.
  12. My wifes idea of camping is Holiday Inn style. We will be moteling it.
  13. I always wear my boots or an absolute minimum of sneakers. Never barefoot, never with sandals.
  14. Two wheels baby!! Two wheels!
  15. :rotf::rotf::rotf: I think I just wet myself..............................................yup!
  16. For those that have one, how well does it hold the front wheel? The Handy's have a U-shaped stop that holds it pretty good. I noticed the HF just has an open face plate. Does the tire want to move left or right once in the clamp?
  17. Isn't Flo taking care of you Jay? I have AAA and both bikes are under $500 a year together. I do drop the insurance down to storage coverage in late November and then up the policy back to full coverage in April/May. I usually get about $100 back when I reduce in November dropping it a bit lower.
  18. Key Largo is an option I was thinking of. Yeah, I know it's going to be hot, that's how I like it. I have gone to Vegas in July and walked the entire strip during the daytime! Glutten for punishment I guess. I will check out the places you guys have suggested. Keep em coming!
  19. My wife and I are starting to plan our summer vacation. We are going to go to Key West in mid June. Question.....has anyone here been there? Where did you stay, likes, dislikes, places to go and see, places to avoid. We are only going to spend two nights. I figure it will take us about 2 1/2 days to get there from Michigan.Leave on Saturday morning and arrive mid day Teusday, leave Thursday morning and head home going up the east coast then cut across around Virginia and be back home Sunday. It's 1550 miles from our house to downtown Key West. I figure between 4500-5000 miles round trip. Suggestions?
  20. I just priced mine out at $16k.
  21. Alas, I wish it were mine or a second one for the wife!
  22. Looks like they work great, until those tiny wheels get caught in the groove between slbs of cement.
  23. VEEEERRRRYY nice Larry. Mary may try and snatch it off of you when your not looking!
  24. Not sure. I love my RSV, but contrary to others, I really like the Kawaski Voyager. I probably would. I would like to pick up another one that is already triked for my wife.
  25. Do not go through ANY major cities. Us the bypasses. Yes it may take you a few miles out of your way, but atleast your not stuck in traffic.
