  1. Congrats on the new bike. Post pictures when you get her home. Mike
  2. Ha ha ha the greatest benefit for me is being able to outpace a 2012 Harley Ultra Glide CVO with a Screaming Eagle 110 on the freeway on ramps. The smile just lasts and lasts. Although I believe doing so does hurt the fuel mileage a bit. Heck I even smile just thinking about it. Mike
  3. Ha ha ha that's the thing V-Max owners like the Venture gear and Venture owners like the V-Max gear. Are you listening Yamaha? Hello. Mike
  4. There is no affect on the speedometer as both gear sets us the same number of teeth on the ring gear. Mike
  5. I have done that. Picked up about three mpg. (results may vary). Mike
  6. Thanks for the correction. Mike
  7. If you want a better ride do the v-max swap. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13266 Then you can ride one gear up, have lower rpm and still have better performance. Or ride the same gear have higher rpm, better performance and better gas mileage. In other words you will have more options. Mike
  8. Yes second gen Ventures have air adjustable shocks front and rear but the use of air is nor required. You put in the amount that makes you comfortable . Up to the maximum limits. 10lbs front' 50 rear. Use a hand pump not garage air. The brakes are not linked. Mike
  9. You might want to try this. Worked wonders for me. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13266 Mike
  10. +1 on warranty. It is not very likely a bad bearing but a dealer can easily check it for you. Most often it is tires. Also make sure the IC level on your radio is set to 0. Sometimes that will pick up noise and transmit it to the helmet speakers if you have them. Mike
  11. Unhook the fuel line from the petcock and see if fuel runs out. Mike
  12. Thanks Larry. I recently installed a set of passengers arm rests from Carbon-One. They are a great acquisition. The commander really likes them and feels much more secure in the pilots seat. I ran into a little difficulty installing them but that was probably due to the passengers hand grips not being quite straight. Also moving the trunk back requires a little more than just relocating the screws. The rear most mount holes are not threaded. So some nuts and lock washers are required. But it was well worth the effort to get them installed. The arm rests are of a high quality and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Mike
  13. Again I agree except that here in Washington State the bike path is often a white stripe on the right side of the right hand lane. Thus creating the problems I described. I hope all goes well for your situation. Mike
  14. Congrats on the bike. Mike
  15. I am not anti-bicyclist. I just think some of our highway design engineers have their heads up their butt. Mike
  16. Good. The OBD2 system on this car will reset the light if it does not see the problem for three drive cycles. That is different than key starts as it requires a certain amount of driving. So if it was due to a loose gas cap for example and you tightened the cap the light will not turn off immediately. It still would be a good idea to get the car scanned for history codes just to know what caused the light in the first place. Mike
  17. Want to chime in here Miles ? Mike
  18. Perhaps true but if you are in a right hand turn lane making a right hand turn. You don't expect a vehicle to be going straight on your right. Also if you were stopped say for a light you may not have just passed the bicycle. He could have come out of a parking lot etc. It is called a blind spot for a reason. My point is it doesn't matter who might be at fault. It is a dangerous situation compounded by poor design. The results are often fatal to the bicyclist and In my opinion it doesn't need to be that way. Mike
  19. RMA Motorsport goes through the rear end and sets everything up before they send it to you. It is very unlikely to give you any trouble. That is other than the thrill of getting on the throttle. Mike
  20. Well said. Mike
  21. I can do that. Just not sober. Mike
  22. Congrats Kyle Mike
  23. I have not been to happy with bike lanes on roadways around here. They force a car turning right to turn across the path of a bicycle going straight. The bicyclist may not be in a position to see the automobiles turn signals. And the bicyclist may be out of the vision of the vehicle making the turn. It seems a very poor design. Especially in congested areas. It is a recipe for disaster. Mike
  24. 09 might still be under warranty. So why not just let the dealer fix it? Mike
  25. Brian I have an obd2 scanner. We can meet up somewhere and I will scan it for you or you can just borrow the scanner. Mike
