  1. Please tell us if you did you got the new 2014 1300.
  2. I see what ya mean now, Puc.
  3. Ooooooo! That's a good question. Man, I'm tempted to call and ask them. Wait a minute, do I really wanna see that? Lol.
  4. We're all unscathed. My ego was bruised a little. We stayed the night last night at a hotel after a 200 mile ride. The hotel manager was kind enough to let me park the bike on the sidewalk right next to the front door. Well, that's exactly where the whole dropping of the bike scene happened this morning. After warming the bike up, we got loaded and I let the clutch out and the bike went about a foot before the ole disc brake lock did it's job. LOL. I had the from wheel turned to the right, so when the front wheel locked up, it dropped to the right faster than I could get my bearings. I almost saved it, but no deal. The bike fell onto it's crash bars and didn't roll over any father than that. My wife and I both tumbled off our seats and did the old person git up type thing. After the initial shock of the deal, I started laughing my head off. The hotel manager came running out the front door asking if we were alright. She looked puzzled that I was laughing. We put in over 400 beautiful miles today, and I count this morning as lesson learned.
  5. Finally, after having my bike for 6 wonderful years, I dropped that sucker this morning. It turns out that if you try to take off with your front wheel disc brake lock still on, IT'LL BUCK YA RIGHT OFF! LOL.
  6. Just this year they came out with a bigger motor in them. Is that the one you're getting. I test rode them before and was super impressed with everything but the power of the 900 cc motor. Make sure you're getting one with the new bigger motor. I think its an 1100 now. Or it might even be bigger.
  7. That explains it then. LOL. Thanks.
  8. Whats the difference between: Midnight, Intense Black, and Raven? To me, they all look like the same gloss black. How many shades of gloss black could there be? Just wonderin.
  9. Yep. You're the pretty girl at the prom when the naders are flyin around.
  10. Ronnie, Glad to hear you're okay. That thing was heading right at Searcy for a while last night. If it would've went through Searcy, there would've been some serious issues due to the larger population area. Must've helped that all of those Church of Christ students at Harding University were praying. LOL.
  11. Joe, As Buddy said, $14,900.00 is REAL low for a brand new never been titled before Venture. However, I know exactly what you mean and the quagmire you're in trying to make this decision. If your looking at purchasing a brand spanking new bike, it's extremely hard to justify the Venture that is basically the same bike that it was in 1999. I have went through this exact same mental exercise a quazillion times in the last couple years. What makes it so attractive is we all know how good of a bike the Venture or in my case the RSTD is. And if you're like me, you've added a lotta stuff to your current bike that could transfer directly over to your new Venture thus saving you even more money. But, man, I am so tempted by all of the new bikes that you named with their fancy dancy offerings of heated seats, heated grips, fuel injection, cool tire sizes, more horsepower, no 6 disc cd changer, no cassette deck, more storage, etc, etc, etc. Heck, I'm just as confused as you are. LOL. The only real advise I can give you is something I have finally learned with age; Don't buy anything that you have a little voice of doubt in your head about. I don't care if it is a coke and a bag of chips, if you're having uneasy feelings about the purchase, don't buy it. I didn't say never buy it, I said don't buy it. That could mean wait for a spell until you feel at peace with the purchase. But, I have finally learned the lesson that we all have a still small voice in us, I choose to believe it is my Lord trying to guide me, that we should constantly be listening to for guidance, and we DO hear that voice on a regular basis, but go against it on a regular basis. Many times resulting in a bad experience in the end. I now, which is very different from my younger years, insist to myself that I MUST be totally at peace and elated about a purchase, or I absolutely don't do it. I wish I would've paid more attention to my still small voice back when i was younger. Could've avoided some painful purchase experiences. LOL. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. BL
  12. Eck, I saw where that same unstable weather system is going to be going across your area today. You better know where your fraidy hole is.
  13. Thanks for thinking of us. The tornado started about 7 miles north of us and tracked for over 2 hrs across the state. My brother and sister in law were affected by the storm They live in Mayflower which is one of the towns that had severe damage. They will be okay after having some miner property damage. This is a sad, very bad situation, with 16 people so far who have lost their lives. The people of Arkansas are strong and very used to picking up the pieces after a tornado and moving forward toward recovery. Already seeing help from other states coming in to assist with the recovery. Thanks again. BL
  14. BWK, When I bought my RSTD 6 years ago, it didn't take long to find out the stock seat sucks. After 100 miles or so my rump and tail bone were killing me. I began the same journey you're on right now. I thought about doing the Rick Butler thing, but didn't really want to go through the process of measuring my a$$, or whatever it was gonna take and then hope it all worked out. I know from reports here that Rick Butler does do a good job on seats though. I thought about the Mustang Seat option, but when I sat on it it pushed me forward in the saddle and that felt uncomfortable. So, I ran into a guy at a dealership that was riding a Valkarie, and he was ranting and raving about the seat he had on his bike. It was a very good looking seat from Ultimate Seats. I sat on it and it was awesome! I ordered the rider and passenger seats and the backrests for my bike, and I swear, of the nearly $3K of extras I have put on my bike since I bought it, the Ultimate Seats have been by far the best investment. It totally changed myself and my wives world on how long we can stay in the saddle. We have ridden from North Carolina to Utah and a lotta points in between during the past 6 years and the seat/seats have been awesome! On long rides, sometimes when I run a tank of gas out, I'll pull into the station and never get off the bike. Just sit there and fill up while my wife runs and gets us a drink or something, and head down the road. Never could've done that on the stock seat. Check them out, they might be the answer you're looking for. Certainly was for us. http://www.ultimateseats.ca
  15. Yammer, I just noticed you had responded to this. Yes, that was me and my wife who parked behind you in Mt View last week. Thats a sweet looking RSV you have there padnah. Would've loved to have met you. I kept taking a look toward your bike every time we would come out of one of those shops across the street, but never saw you leave. Maybe we'll meet up some time in the future. BL
  16. IT doesn't make any sense!
  17. Mark, I looked hard at the N104 for me and my wife 6 months ago when I bought us new helmets. It's a very impressive helmet. I also looked at the Shuberth. It is supposed to be a better helmet than the Nolan, but like you said, it is quite a bit more money. So, what did I buy? For some crazy reason I bought us Nolan N43 Trilogy's. They are the goofiest looking helmets you'll ever see, but the reasoning was that we had been used to wearing 3/4 helmets with face shields and my wife was totally bucking the idea of the narrowed vision of the N104 and other full face helmets. The Trilogy has a detachable chin guard and even with the chin bar installed it has a massive field of vision from top to bottom and left to right. She gets a clostrophobic feeling with a full face on, but the Trilogy chin bar she can live with because it is lower than the normal full face. Sorry I didn't give you a true report on the differences between the 103 and 104. I guess I was just wanting to blab about the Trilogy's I bought. LOL.
  18. Playboy, Congrats! God I love that bike! I really like the fact that it has a new edge look to it, but it also maintains the look of a motorcycle. Where did you buy it?
  19. My wife and I did a 300 mile ride today. Beautiful, perfect day. While we were in Mountain Home, Arkansas, we parked beside a beautiful blue and black RSV. Wondering if it is anybody here on our forum?
  20. Steamer, Make sure you ride the Cherohala Skyway.
  21. Ya know.......That's a good point. The day NASCAR starts letting that many people over the wall will be the day I quit watching them for good. There oughta be some drama in how the pit crew performs, and whether it will make or break a race.
  22. That's amazing! that was like a 64 second difference. LOL.
  23. Bob, Thanks so much for posting this. Reminds us to never stop living. BL
  24. Hey Gang, This route takes him through Maggie Valley. Is that Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum still open there in case they wanna take a gander?
