God, Please let Yamaha come out with a brand new "water cooled" touring machine in the near future so we can shut SilverT's pie hole. Please?

I agree oil cooling is a big deal, and it's certainly a good thing that the Vic has it. However, I've always heard, therefore I have formed a belief that water cooled engines keep a more constant temperature, which in turn helps with the overall longevity of the motor. We hear stories of folks getting high 100K's to even 200K's on the Venture motors, I personally know someone that put well over 200k miles on a Goldwing with no engine work. However, when you hear of air cooled engines that are at that mileage it always seems like they have had some work on the motor somewhere down the line to get them to the that high mileage. Just my ywo cents. -

Hey Brian, You can buy the new HD Ultra Glide water cooled for $26K-ish. I just left the dealership about 30 minutes ago. I was there buying passing lamp besels and I looked at a couple of them and talked to the salesrep. They did have one that was like a screamin eagle type bike that listed for $40K, but the standard water cooled Ultra is in the mid to slight more than mid $20K's. -

Thats good to hear you're liking the CCT. Yes, there's always the whiners on any forum. Some folks aren't happy unless they're raising a stink. I love the CCT. I think it has a great modern look to it that sets it apart from the standard bikes. The Vision is a little too far out there as far as the looks department. So, if I go Vic, it'll be the CCT. If they were to water cool it like HD did their bike this year, money would be flying outta my pocket to acquire me a new CCT. I could stand to have one of those red and black anniversary CCT's in my garage. -
The Cherohala is everything from awesome to spiritual. The dang Dragon is truly hilarious! We hung out at Deals Gap for about an hour taking in the sights of the vast array of bikes, trikes and cars. Then headed up the Dragon. I distinctly remember about halfway into the 11 miles, I noticed I had a big grin on my face. I let out a chuckle and my wife heard it in the microphone and asked me what I was laughing at. I told her I had just realized I was riding with a big goofy grin on my face, she said she noticed the same thing about herself. I never got above 3rd gear, and most of it I didn't get above 2nd. The Cherohala and The Dragon are two completely different experiences. Glad to hear your gonna do both.

SilverT, Glad youre stayin. Let me ask ya; how's the CCT doin? Had any issues with it yet? -
Lynn's Place is in Robbinsville. God spot to grab a lunch.

Start in Tellico Plains, Tn and ride the Cherohala Skyway to Hwy 129. Then go north to Deals Gap and ride the Tail of the Dragon up and back. Then leave Deals Gap and ride Hwy 28 south to Franklin, the Hwy 64 east to I-26. Or, don't go all the way to Franklin, take 28 to 74 and take 74 east through Cherokee on back to I-40. You will proclaim it to be some of the best riding of your lifetime. You can ride the 11 miles up and back on The Dragon in less than an hour. In my opinion, you don't go over there and not ride both.

Is now a good time for me to reveal that I have been contacted in the past from one our key members encouraging me to join a secret pact to not respond to Dragonslayers posts? Just wondering.

But, then again, I have a brother who lives in Tampa, Fl. that can't for the life of himself understand why I would want to live way up north here in Arkansas and put up with what medium amount of snow and ice we get. As far as he's concerned, I might as well be living in Fargo, North Dakota. He says Florida has 4 seasons: Before Summer, Summer, After Summer, and Next Summer. I told him that isn't enough seasons for me. LOL.

Man, I'm glad I don't have to put up with those long winters like you folks up north. Y'all do realize we live in country that moving from state to state is allowed, right? Come on down to the south, the weathers fine!

I do not recommend Pirelli Route 66 tires at all. I have a set of them on my bike right now, and they do not track even close to the way the Metzler ME 880's that I replaced did. I'm tired of the bike wiggling when I cross highway seams, and they don't give me a real confident feeling when I'm going through turns at speed. They just don't track very well. The Metzler's were wonderful, but I bought these Pirelli's on a quick decision, and I am gonna change them. They ony have about 3000 miles on them, but i"m tired of it. Just letting you know because I think the Pirelli's are offered in a whitewall. Don't do it.

Don, Thank you so much for sharing. I know it took a lot of courage to open up to us. I am so excited to hear you both are committed to working on your realtionship, and that you clearly understand that it is impossible without a close relationship with our loving Father. Your experience mirrors the story of me and my wife. 20 years ago we had came to the same separation conclusion, and I had became so full of myself that I had set my relationship with God to the side. We were separated for 9 months, and had started the legal process of divorcing. I won't bore you with the details, but it was only after we turned back to God (it was mainly me that had to make that change, she never left the Lord), were we able to put our marriage back together and now live the beautiful life God had put us together in the first place for. We're 31 years now and are sooooo thankfull we did not continue down the road of divorce. You can do this. You know it won't always be easy, but if you maintain an honest open realtionship with each other, and God, you will make it. I'm praying for you.

Is it about right now that I should mention about how all of you guys have fru fru wives that are too sensitive worrying about their comfy seats while they knit, read, sleep on the bike. We've trecked a buncha miles on our RSTD with my wife on back and she LOVES it! Never complaining, and God forbid she start worrying about whether she has enough pillow puffs on her seat like Venture riders have. RSTD WIVES RULE!!! Tougher n boot leather.
-
You guys are amazing if you can figure this out because you're talking about an era when our country had well over 1000 auto manufacturers. But, then again, it never ceases to amaze me what gets figured out on this site. LOL.

Hey Folks, I'm gonna buy passing lamps in the near future for RSTD. I have been considering the standard yamaha sealed beam, or the yamaha halogen lamps. My question is; yesterday I ran across a pair of yamaha tri-bar style lamps that fit the RSTD/Venture that I can buy for cheap, is there a benefit for buying the tri-bar design, or is it just an aesthetic thing Lynn

I have an Ultimate Seat with an Ultimate backrest. The backrest folds down nicely for me to swing my leg over it while getting on and off. Couldn't live without it.

Russellvh, Make sure you take this day ride. From Flagstaff, take I-17 south from I-40 for about 9 miles. Then take the Hwy 89A exit and ride 89A down to Sedona, Az. This is a very popular and Beautiful motorcycle ride with awesome sweepers and twisties and stunning views. Sedona is a cool town sitting among amazing red rock formations and bluffs. There is a popular church built into the side of a mountain that is a must see. Don't end your journey in Sedona. It is a must to keep riding south on 89A down through the valley town of Cottonwood and then up 89A over the mountain heading toward Prescott. On top of that mountain is an old mining town named Jerome. It is a motorcycle mecca. Ride past the town over the mountain for some awesome riding, and then turn around and come back to Jerome for shops and good eats. Then head back to Flagstaff either by 89A, or run over to I-17 and take it north. You won't regret taking a day and doing this ride.

Prairiehammer, Do make sure you ride the Million Dollar Highway. Silverton, and Ouray are cool little towns to stop and get a drink or shop a little between Durango and Montrose. After you get to Montrose, be sure you jump over and take a look at Black Canyon of the Gunnison N.P., truly awesome! Also, after you leave the Montrose area, I highly recommend you taking a ride up to the Grand Junction, Co. area and get on Interstate 70 and ride it east from Grand Junction toward Denver. The section on I-70 from about Rifle, Co. to Eagle-Vail is rated by a lot of travel publications as USA's most beautiful section of Interstate Hwy. As you go through Glenwood Canyon around Glenwood Springs, it gets so narrow that they built the interstate on top of each other. The Colorado River runs beside the interstate most of this section, and a lot of times gives you the illusion that the water is running up hill. Really amazing ride for an interstate.

Don, I've been meaning to ask you this, and maybe someone has already asked you and I missed it. But, now that Harley has came out with their all new water cooled bike with all of the upgraded features, do you have just a tad of a "I wish I would've waited another year" feeling? I rode one and that sucker is very nice! Just wondering.
