I may be wrong but I THINK the valves get tiger with age. As the shims wear, the valves get tighter. If I am correct in that, then I would recommend adjusting them a bit.

OK...I could probably ride this thing about 10 miles before my back started complaining but the technology for the engine might be interesting. A 75-degree V-twin displacing 1,195 cc puts out 200 horsepower. http://www.lotus-motorcycles.com

I am very sorry to say that I am going to have to cancel Freebird's Maintenance Day this year. It is with a heavy hear that I cancel this annual event. It has nothing to do with anything here or the fact that I sold my RSV. The reasons are personal and I can't share them at this time. I promise you that I would not do this as it is always something that I have enjoyed and honored to have many of you attend. I wish I could tell you more but I just can't at this time. I know that some of you have already made reservations. Please be sure to cancel them before you forget.

As for starting it Dan...some of the others were right. I always just pulled the choke fully out. Didn't ever touch the throttle. Started it and let it run until it was at a high idle...push it in about half way and let it continue to warm up. Never had any trouble starting it even after sitting through the winter.

If you had Freebird's money, you would NOT be buying a $40,000.00 bike I can promise you that. My 2013 Road Glide didn't cost me much more than the suggested retail of a new RSV.

Very cool indeed. I would have liked to have done that. I've been out of town most of the month though and even if I wasn't, there is way too much salt on the roads right now.

I think it is legal in Washington state for recreational use now also. Though they haven't actually started opening the stores yet, it supposed to happen soon.

Last time I looked for one of those, I never found it anywhere and did not find anything similar.

I absolutely agree that you must be careful when selling on Craigslist or anywhere else on the Internet. It is no different than the days before computers though when you sold via the local newspaper classifieds. Well, except for the fact that you are reaching people who may be further away. I can remember when I was a kid that my dad had a car listed in the local newspaper. A man came to look at it, got in it and started it up then just drove away and didn't come back. The police found him the next day though. He had driven the car to a liquor store in a nearby town. Bought a bottle of whiskey and then parked in a wooded and drank till he passed out. Guess he just needed a ride to the store.

I put one on the '99 but it was in the late fall just before the weather got nasty. I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship but only rode it once or twice before selling the bike to Yammer Dan.

We have a number of water jets where I work. None of them have a manual mode, they all require a digital file. They are very high end units and I don't know if there are other models that can be run manually but I have never seen one.

They will all fit physically but there were a few years where Harley put catalytic converters in one of the mufflers. Those are generally not desirable of the RSV or the RSTD. I'm not exactly sure which years it was.

I THINK they will work. The 2013 does not have the catalytic converters in the mufflers, they are in the head pipe. I think the mounts are the same as the earlier models. If I was home, I would take another look but unfortunately I'm on the road again.

That's pretty cool. A lot of changes since then but I think that the basic principals are still valid. I know that there are a few who don't agree but I think we have stayed pretty true to the mission.
