  1. Some of you have complained about the popping sounds. I think they are finally disabled.
  2. No way for me. I would never use training wheels.
  3. Folks, it doesn't matter who it was. I didn't mention a name because if he ever decides he would like to come back, he is more than welcome. Over the years there have been a handful of people that got upset about something and left only to realize later that they were wrong or even that maybe they didn't feel that they were wrong but decided it wasn't a big deal. There are at least two members that came and went several times because they were always getting bent out of shape over something. If this member ever decides that he wants to come back for whatever reason, he is welcome to do so and nothing more need to be said about any of this. Like I said at the beginning, if something that I said was offensive then I apologize. That's all there is to it. No apology back to me is necessary.
  4. That's just very cool Puc. Heck, Vermillion is probably less than 10 miles from my house and in fact, we usually do a dinner ride on Friday night to the Quacker Steak and Lube in Vermillion. Maybe he could even ride it over and spend some time with us at my house.
  5. I agree. I too have lost friends at work over the years. There was a time when I too was building power plants and there were some dangerous situations. When I first started as an electrician's helper, the electrician that I worked with ended up getting into some high voltage (6900V) circuits and was killed on the spot. He was a fine man and taught me a lot about working safe but made a critical mistake. You are right, it's not worth it. Take your time and be safe above all else. Our prayers go out to the young man's family.
  6. Details on tickets coming soon.
  7. Great...it just never stops...now I'm accused of being full of crap.
  8. It hasn't stopped snowing here all day. I should be in Pittsburg now but am still sitting at home. I was in Pittsburg last week for two days and had to cut the trip short due to a back problem. I've never had back trouble but something is knocking me on my butt. I don't know if it's actually my back or a kidney problem. Went to the doctor last Wednesday when I got home and got a shot and some really good pills. Thought I was better yesterday but it was bad again this morning. Went for an ultrasound of my kidneys earlier today and should know more tomorrow. Unless I'm completely bedridden or snowed in though, I have to get to Pittsburg tomorrow. Would love to get out on the bike but Rick Butler has my seat right now anyway.
  9. Well it is taking much longer for these decals to arrive than I anticipated. I ordered these from a US company. They sent me confirmation a week ago that they had shipped via Priority Mail. I just looked at the tracking and see that they are sitting in customs in San Fransisco. According to what I can tell, they came there from Canada. Now it doesn't bother me that they came from Canada but if the truth were known, I would bet that they came to Canada from China. Oh well...it's the same place I got them from last time so the quality should be great.....if they would just get here. Sorry for the delay.
  10. How did you get out of your corner again?
  11. I will say this. Yammer Dan will NEVER be able to outrun me. He doesn't know where I installed the remote module that shuts his bike down.
  12. I won't go into a long diatribe here but will just confirm that it has nothing to do with the money. I have said before and will say again, it would not be my desire for anybody to ever leave here over the lack of 12.00. I have extended free memberships to several people once I found out that they were having financial issues. I even told this guy that if it was about the money that I would pay it for him. The money was not an issue for him or for me.
  13. No problem. I was slow because I did it wrong the first time.
  14. Yes, was adding pictures.
  15. OK folks. For this years VentureRider International Rally we have decided to once again raffle a motorcycle trailer for our grand prize. More information regarding how to purchase your tickets will be coming soon but here is the trailer that we will be raffling. Alumna MCT Color: Black Lockable Lid Cooler Tray with Tie Loops Aluminum Construction 13.4 Cubic Feet 600# Rubber Torsion Axle LED Lighting These are great little trailers and a number of our members own then and can testify to their quality.
  16. Of course not. That is just crazy talk.
  17. Let me nip that in the bud right now. Nobody here owes me an apology. I have no problem at all with all the ribbing and jokes. There are those here who truly don't care for Harley and that is fine too. Most are just giving me a hard time and I have no problem with that. I laugh right along with you.
  18. For the past few hours, I've had a heated debate with myself as to whether or not to post this but I can't let it go so here it is. Last night, I had an email exchange with a previous member that hit me pretty hard. Maybe I'm too sensitive to such things and need to grow some thicker skin but if what he says has any validity, then I need to take it seriously. I told him that he was full of crap but after thinking about it, I know that wasn't the proper response. If I am guilty of such a thing, I want to know it. Now I sent this guy an email because he had been very active and then just went away. I was concerned that perhaps he had health issues, been in a wreck or something like that and was concerned. I do care about the members here and such things bother me at times. His reply set me back though. What he told me was that he did not renew him membership because he got sick of me bad mouthing the Yamaha since I bought my Harley. Now I have to tell you. I have tried to be very careful about even mentioning my bike here because I didn't want anybody to get the impression that I felt that it was a superior bike or that I was superior because I'm riding a Harley at this time. I have been asked a couple of times to voice my comparisons between the two and have done so. When I have done so, I have tried to be completely honest and not critical of either bike. He stated that my comments were a slap in the face to the members here. I'm not going to go into all of it again but I have said that there are things about both bikes that I like and things that I dislike. The fact is, I love the RSV and rode mine for almost 13 years. The fact that I owned it that long says a lot because I have never owned a vehicle of any kind for anywhere near that length of time. I was ready for something different and Yamaha didn't offer anything different at this time so I went with something else. The bottom line is that I have no desire or reason to bad mouth the RSV or any other bike. It has taken no great effort on my part to NOT bad mouth them because I have no such feelings and no reason to. I may very well own another one at some point. So basically, if I have given anybody that impression, I want to offer my sincere apology. I have wracked what little bit of a brain I have trying to figure out what and when I would have said such a thing and I honestly don't know of a single time. I do like my Harley but one of my regrets is ever selling the RSV. I wish I could have kept them both and I can assure you that at least on a hot day, I would rather be on the RSV. One of the first things I did was to mount my flag pole on the Harley and proudly fly my VentureRider flag.
  19. OK folks, the VR Assistance list is functional at this time. You can use it from your computer or you can print it out. If you want a printed list, you need to choose landscape mode for your printer and then each row should fit on a single page. It may make the phone numbers two rows but should work. If you have legal sized paper and choose landscape mode, I think it will print as shown. I realize that it really needs to be sortable by state/province to make it easier to use. That is a feature that I will continue to work on but it has proven to be more difficult than I expected. I will find a way though. In the meantime, you can print out individual lists for each state or for the states you are in if you choose to. You simply need to use the "Advanced" search function to create your own list. You simply go to the VR Assistance list. On the far right side you will see a link that says "Search Members". NOT the "Advanced Search" at the top but the small link that says "Search Members" under the row of letters. Click on "search members" and then click the "advanced search" in the box that opens. From the advanced search page, scroll down and select the state or province from the drop down menu in the "State Province" field. The scroll down and choose "Yes" in the VR Assistance field. Once you have chosen the state/province and "yes" for VR Assistance, click "search now" at the bottom right and you will get a list of people who offer assistance in that area. You can print just that page and take it with you. Do that for all the states that you will be traveling through and that gives you a list sorted by states. As I said, I will continue to work on a method to sort the entire list by state/province but for now, your options are to download the complete list that is sorted by username or to create and print your own lost sorted by individual locations. Now I can create the main/unsorted list and post it as a .pdf file if that is helpful. It is very simply for me to do if you need that. It will not be sorted by state though.
  20. I doubt that I'll "spiff up" any of the other colors. Two reasons, it is a real pain in the but to do and also it does slow you down due to all the images and etc. that have to load.
  21. No, I'm sorry but it's not. It's two entirely separate programs.
  22. I edited this post to remove the "for sale" part. Ads are not allowed in the forums.
  23. Yes, that's another thing. If your item sells, please mark it sold. You can't delete your own ad but if you mark it sold, it will automatically delete itself after a couple of days. To mark your ad sold, simply go to your ad. At the upper right will be a link that says "Product Options". Click on that and then select "SOLD" from the dropdown menu.
  24. I just took the time to move a lot of classifieds ads to the proper categories. Several people had posted parts for sale in the First Gen and Second Gen motorcycle category when they should have been posted in the First Gen Parts and Second Gen parts categories. I moved them because I realize that maybe it was not clear. I've added "COMPLETE BIKES ONLY" to the motorcycle categories. So I admit that maybe it wasn't clear and took the time to move all the ads to the correct place. Now that is IS clear though, I will not move them in the future and will just delete them. Also please do not cross-post the same ad in different categories unless you are selling more than one item. For example, somebody is selling replacement keys and offers them for first gen, second gen, etc. so that is acceptable to post in both places. Thanks for your consideration. It just makes it easier for folks to find what they are looking for.
