  1. Everybody who owns a RSV needs to check that bolt. Put some blue loctite on it. It is known to back out.
  2. Great. Don't you love it when a plan comes together.
  3. For me, it just depends on my mood and where I am. When Eileen rides with me, it is always fairly laid back. She doesn't like high speeds except, strangely enough, she likes me to ride fairly aggressively in the twisties as long as I don't drag anything. When I ride alone, I tend to ride faster a bit more often but there are still times when I like to just take my time and enjoy the scenery and serinity.
  4. Knew it wasn't Michigan. Guess I won't be able to make it today.
  5. I just poked in there with the end of the handle of the screwdriver. The bowls are on the bottom of the carbs.
  6. Very cool. Where is that? Would like to go.
  7. There very first thing to do is to just tap on the fuel bowl. That will often work and in fact, worked for me just a couple of weeks ago when I had a stuck float after winter hibernation. I just took a large screwdriver and used the handle end to tap on the carb bowl. Some are worse but mine freed right up.
  8. I agree with you Craig. We really enjoy our Waverunnners, just wish we had more time to use them. We too prefer the glass smooth waters, especially when we can find som scenic twisty rivers. That is our preference. Our best time was renting renting a houseboat on Lake Cumberland then towing the Waverunners behind it. Find a nice quiet cove to anchor the houseboat down and then use the Waverunners to explore.
  9. PayPal just sent for two patches. Thanks for doing this.
  10. Looks good Jeff. I like boats but don't LOVE boats. I enjoy going out for a while but get bored with it pretty soon.
  11. Yes, I think that they only made the AM/FM in the 3' version. That is what I had on my '99 and is what I'm putting on the '05. I'm pretty sure that Firestik has quit making the AM/FM version so I grabbed one while I still could.
  12. We sold our 26' Regal Ambassador last spring. We loved the boat but the only lake near us that was really large enough for the boat was Lake Erie. We really don't like Lake Erie at all. We towed it to Lake Cumberland once because we love it down there but it's just too far to get down there very often and this was a large boat to be towing that far. Summer before last, we finally broke down and rented a slip on Lake Erie. It cost us $2100.00 for the summer and I think that we actually took it out 2 times. We used it for a camper a few times but that's about it. For what we paid just for the slip for the summer, we can drive to Cumberland and rent a houseboat a couple of times a year and not have to worry about maintaining a boat. Here's the one that we sold. It was a nice boat. We loved that it had a fore and aft cabin. This picture was taken at Lake Cumberland. Here it is on the way home from Cumberland. It weighed about 8,000 lbs. Quite a lot behind a 1/2 Avalanche.
  13. I don't remember for sure but I think that the first gens, at least some of them, had a single antenna and the cable goes to some type of matching transformer with outputs for the AM/FM and the CB.
  14. Will post pictures. It will probably be Saturday before I get around to installing them though.
  15. As I was cleaning the garage this past weekend trying to find a screw that I dropped, I came across the Firestik antennas that I bought last summer for my '05. I had the on the '99 and really liked them. The AM/FM model has been discontinued but there are still some available if you do a search. So I have the CB version and the matching AM/FM version. I just hadn't taken the time to pick up the new mounting studs and fold overs so that I could install them. Yesterday I was passing a truck stop so stopped there and found the mounts and fold overs that I wanted. So I am all set now to finally get them installed this weekend. It is an easy job will take maybe 30 minutes total. I never use the AM/FM so it is really just to maintain the dual antenna look that I like. The Firestik is a better antenna than the stock one but really not that big of a deal CBs are short range communication devices anyway and the stock antennas do fine. I just like the black Firestiks and think that they will look especially nice on my Midnight.
  16. OH...I am NOT paying that figure of over 2,000.00. Fortunately I have insurance through my employer. I pay some but nowhere near that. I'm not even sure the exact amount but I think that I pay about $500.00 per month for me and my family. I was just saying that if I were to quit my job right now and have to purchase my own insurance, that number over 2,000.00 was what I was quoted. There were some options that were cheaper, as low as about 1300.00 per month but with deductibles of 10,000 and more before they paid anything at all.
  17. SlowRollWV said 1217 per month for his wife and him. I recently checked on insurance for my wife and I. We are not high income and the fact is, unless your income is low enough that you qualify for some type of subsidy, your income really isn't a factor. The quote that I got for my wife and I, $5,000 deductible, came to just over $2,000.00 per month. That is a primary reason that I'm still working. I am 62 now and will have to wait until I'm 65 before I am eligible for Medicare. Along with that I will need some type of Medicare Supplement insurance to cover what needs to be covered but it will be much less than $2000.00 per month but still more than you pay.
  18. If you open it up, you should be able to tell if you used the Barnett or the SkyDoc conversion. Not sure you can see the half or full disk before removing it.
  19. I know that most of you have worked on your bike and lost a screw, bolt, or nut. On our last ride last fall, the intercom on the '05 was not working. Yesterday I decided to trace down the problem and get it ready to go for the summer. I have a Mic-Mute on it and figured that it had something to do with that. I removed the seat and started checking wiring and voltage. I have the power tied into the auxiliary connector under the seat/side panel so that the Mic-Mute is only powered when the key is on. I also have a DC outlet installed in the know out there below the left side of the seat. Sure enough, I discovered that I had no power. Power for that circuit is in the small fuse box inside the right lower. So I pulled the lower off and checked it and sure enough, the fuse was blown. Now that is only a 5 amp fuse. I'm sure that I plugged something into that 12v receptacle at some point and blew the fuse. Maybe even the lighter inserted into it blew the fuse, 5 amp is really not even enough for that. So as I had done on a couple of these bikes in the past, I increased it to a 10 amp fuse and all seems well. I started putting is all back together and couldn't find the allen head screw that secures the lower from the inside. I looked everywhere for that thing and now luck. There were some leaves in the garage that had blown in over the winter so I backed the bike out and started sweeping. I thought that maybe I had kicked the screw when I was getting up and down so I had no idea where it might have gone. So I ended up sweeping the entire garage out. Moved everything, swept and then used the leaf blower and carefully blew everything out. No luck. So maybe I sat it on one of the work benches which again, over the winter, had become a mess. So I started cleaning work benches, throwing away junk that had accumulated, just a general cleaning of the entire garage. So now I have a pretty clean garage but still no screw. I finally gave up and found a screw that would work but didn't have the right head on it. It would have to do though. I couldn't get that stupid screw off my mind though so later yesterday afternoon, I decided to search one more time. I was now convinced that it had to be laying somewhere on the bike. I reached up under the floorboard to the black channel bracket and guess what, there is was. So now the screw is replaced and the garage is moderately clean. Not something I had planned to do yesterday but that's one thing that I always do before Maintenance Day so can mark it off my list. IF I can just keep it clean until then.
  20. Sorry to see you go but I understand that things change over the years. I hope you reconsider but if not, you take care of yourself and know that you are always welcome here.
  21. I posted this in the official thread a couple days ago. A little more expensive but the Country Inn looks pretty good. https://www.hotels.com/search.do?resolved-location=CITY%3A1458916%3AUNKNOWN%3AUNKNOWN&destination-id=1458916&q-destination=Oberlin,%20Ohio,%20United%20States%20of%20America&q-check-in=2017-05-01&q-check-out=2017-05-09&q-rooms=1&q-room-0-adults=2&q-room-0-children=0
  22. Don't know. It takes me to the Ebay page.
  23. Moved thread. Also, check your clutch and brake switches. A good start would be to push out on the clutch lever and the brake lever and see if you can set it while pushing out.
  24. I've been reading all the responses and though I agree that towing the bike is not a good idea, I disagree that pulling the driveshaft is the solution. I understand the context of the suggestion but, for me at least, it is simply not a viable solution. While it would work, to me it's just not practical. That means that before you leave, you have to put the bike on a lift, remove the saddlebags, pull the mufflers, pull the rear wheel, all to remove the driveshaft. Then you have to put it all back together or at the very least, put the back wheel back on and then make sure you have room in your tow vehicle for the mufflers, saddlebags, etc. You will also need to haul your lift with you or be able to find one at your destination to borrow so that you can pull the wheel, replace the driveshaft, re-assemble everything. WOW....that's just much more than I would want to do. Maybe some of you younger and more energetic types are OK with that. In my opinion, a trailer is the only viable solution. Well, there are others like those pickup bad automatic loaders and etc. but you get the point. Of course I do realize that Rob says that he is going to be there for a good bit of the summer so maybe it's worth all the above. Still, I think that a trailer is the best way to go.
  25. NOOOO...not to Freebird's account. Send it to Lewis at the email he listed in his post above.
