  1. the Goldwings will eat the Ventures lunch everytime. That's not to say our ventures aren't a great bike but they just don't have the same HP that the Goldwing does. Brian
  2. A friend bought my 85 a couple of years ago for parts,...but hasn't sold anything. I also had an extra set of bags I gave him with it. I remember them as being in pretty good shape, I can ask and see if he would like to sell them. Brian

  4. It looks identical to my 03. I would check the rear shock for oil around it as the rear shock is 400-700 bucks to replace depending on what you do. I wouldn't worry too much about the oil around the carbs as its probably from the P.O. using too much oil in the crankcase. the manual says to use too much oil, never let it get above halfway up the oil sight glass or it will suck oil up into your breathers and end up on carbs and intake area. Mine didn't have a plate above the choke until I put on Slowrolls polished StainlessSteelcarb cover Bling to dress it up It looks well taken care of, good luck with it if you decide to go ahead.   5. Yeah, I pretty much do what Condor says. My bike gets a couple of ounces every few tankfuls all through summer and then a full can and full tank of fresh gas when I store for the winter. Brian

  8. I would run that tank of gas through it with some seafoam in it, and try the same thing over. I am betting the issue will be gone with fresh gas and clean seafoam carbs. Brian
  9. I wanted a Rivco a year or so ago, but was having trouble parting with the cash for it. I ran across a member that had a converted 1st gen center stand for a lot less than 400 bucks, so I painted it up all nice and shiny and it works real good! there is a posting in the tech area on how to modify a 1st gen center stand if anyone wants to go tthat route.   10. There are some user manuals listed in our forum here, and I think overall you will get far more value out of a membership in Venturerider.org than on buying some of the manuals. But, I do also like the web site below as all of the usermanuals and shop manuals are here and are downloadable. I carry them on a flash drive when travelling.   11. I agree with the majority of the riders that have G2 Ventures,and like the heel/toe shifter, but I have gotten caught in the shifter a time or 2. I saw that someone a while back posted the idea to cut the rear shifting post down to about half of the length. I think that would make it just about perfect to keep me from getting tangled in the shifter but still have all of the convenience of the heel shifter. ....just another project to do..... Brian

  13. Most of the things I buy online in the US are trackable in Canada. I just use the USPS tracking number on the Canada post Tracking website and it tracks to my door. ( I insist everything comes to me USPS so I don't pay the huge hidden brokerage fees that you get when cross border shipping with anyone else) Even my hong kong purchases with the free delivery are trackable once the "handoff" is done to Canada post.   14. Quick question after I tell something I had happen to my compressor. I loaned my compressor out once and it wouldn't run when I got it back, and did exactly as yours does. After wracking my brain and checking things over I found that the loanee had turned off the valve that allows air into the tank so the air had no where to go and the pressure sensor would shut down the compressor. So,this might seem like a stupid question but, ..is your valve open? Brian

  17. I like my mc2 narrower tire on the fron. a little quicker to repsnd and a lot lighter in the slow speed. Brian

  19. Ive only just put it on the bike over the winter, and havnt ridden the bike with it on yet. Another member here recommended that style tach in a thread a few months back. A friend in town has one of these in the Yamaha brand name and he indicated that the battery needed replacing at a couple of years, It looks like its a simple job to put a new button battery into it. When its running it is easy for me to read and while its not a performance tach, it works fine to know what speeds youre running at, and to verify shifting points. Brian

I went a different route I have this one on my bike now. its an easy hookup as it doesn't require any power (change battery once a year or so Ive been told) and just wrap the pickup wire around the sparkplug wire. Yamaha makes one too if you want the name on it.   21. Good post Rick! FYI- Neilsen was another Regina SK. native but went on to bigger things.... If anyone liked the RCMP horses and riding in that video,you should check out the Cypress Hills area on July 21st this summer. The RCMP will be putting on their musical ride in the historic Fort Walsh where most of the riding history of the Mounties got the start. It should really take you back to the old days seeing the horses and officers in full dress putting on a full show on the place that has so much history of the west and the RCMP.   22. We went on daylight savings time in the 60's and have stayed there. Its nice not having to change clocks twice a year. Brian
  23. I also run the Commander 2 130 and am very happy with the low speed handling and find a bit more hands on the bars required at highway speeds. But . overall much preferred over the OEM size. Brian
