Stupid solid turn signals...
snyper316 replied to MattK's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Do you have Four resistors and if you replaced the dash lights do you have a resistor up there too? I am glad to know I am not the only one that has this issue with the 83 circuitry. But they will blink very slowly with all 4 resistors... -
Well there is half an inch between brake bracket and swing arm. The grease well thats when my problem started when I took the wheel back off to do all that... So I didn't properly reassemble it. Just an adjustment and I should be good to go. I keep referring to the washer being sandwiched between brake bracket and Swingarm. So I assembled something wrong, its easy to do when You aren't paying attention. I believe I tightened the pinch bolt last and I think your supposed to do that first.

well basically I am trying to find proper placement of the rear axle all the washers are in the respective places, I can't remember if the washer was sandwiched between the swing arm and the brake mount, The wobble I feel is coming from the back, or if it isn't then I was crazy for taking my hands off the bars... I did this around 55 just to see what would happen. I still can't get my cruise to work correctly I set it at 60 and up hills it would go all the way down to 55 going up and then 65 going down. So when you set yours at 70 does it stay at 70 or will it go to 80 going down a hill? O wait... Mine is a silver mechanism yours is electronic.

Yep most your fuel is going out the exaust maybe.... Lol I have a habit of not riding like that, But today I did. I was in no hurry heck I didn't even know where I was going. I just let tinker lead the way, Now this may sound a little strange tho, I would get to around 70-75 and would feel a bit of wobble. I am not sure if this was in the road, maybe I have something out of alignment when I put the tires back on. But I did have wind blowing at my side and the road this happend on was asphalt. But was noticeable on a concrete stretch with those grooves/lines at around 60. Do I need the Washer smashed between the brake holder and the swing arm? If so that is more then likely my problem.

Wouldnt all the relays be the same up there? I am thinking I swapped mine around at one time trying to see if I got the same results. -

What state are you in, I thought Missouri was the only state that did safety inspections..... They never even checked that on the bikes I took in. But I do agree those do need to work because it kind of stinks taken off and forgetting your kickstand is still down... -
Options for MP3 Player that holds 90GB Any Ideas
snyper316 replied to Cowboy's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I am cheapskate, bought $80.00 phone 16gb internal memory and 16gb expandable memory. I use Pandora for internet radio, and Napster already a member of it before Pandora went to subscription based, I can't think what napster was called before hand its been that long.... I download to external for music I really like and use about 10gbs, I highly doubt I will ever listen to it all on a single trip as it is about 3 days of music. But most of the time I use Pandora for music outside of downloads. Napster Radio for some reason cuts out on me, *Buffering*. Freebird where on earth you ever gonna use that much space on a phone? I had no Idea them phones got up to that much memory now. Top that I installed a Bluetooth Radio, that has slot for USB sticks, and an auxillary port AM/Fm Radio. No CD players cpt on computers... -
@CaseyJ955 I went to Springfield and back on hwy 60 it has 60-65 mph speed limit with rolling hills and 10-15mph hour breeze to the northeast. I finally got 40mpg, but I only hit 70mph tops mainly stayed between 60 and 65mph. Hope that helps lol I know it isn't what you want to hear... So I guess if I want to stretch the fuel economy I will sit back and take in the fresh air and enjoy the scenery. "Never ride faster then your guardian angel can fly."

Lol not the boat.... Tinker I bet that boat might get 15mpg "Never ride faster then your guardian angel can fly."

Ok so I fibbed I went to Springfield basspro shop "Never ride faster then your guardian angel can fly."

Yeah well not sure if its a bike in general that does it, The Rebel sometimes I had to shut it off to get it into neutral. Tinker sometimes I have to rock her a little bit to get her into neutral so all i can suggest is trying rocking it back and forth and push down on shifter. You might also want to try and go up. Just in case it is actually in first gear. Sometimes they may be a bit tricky to get it there in neutral sometimes I have had to shut Tinker down to get her to go into neutral. Seems like it always happens at the gas pump...

sidestand relay?
snyper316 replied to Grez007's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I could be wrong, but If the relay wasn't there I wouldnt think you could start the bike at all... I have a TCI box that for some reason would allow me to do all those things, hooked up new box and it no longer allowed me to do that. Unless someone has cut the black and white wire running to your TCI box... -
silly question is it ok to use tire shine on our tires?
-
that would appear that is what has happened here, I would try to find out how to get the glass out of the way and move that needle.

Well in my younger days and I am not really that old, I loved the freedom I had, to see how fast I could go. The rush of when something wasn't quite right and making it to the bottom of the holler still on 2 wheels. Knowing the minute I got out of sight I could open her up and pop her in 3rd, Man what a rush. I loved that little mini Bike it was a blast to ride especially for a 7 yr old. Then at 10 got to move up to 3 wheels, don't know the cc but it was faster then my mini bike. Most of the time I would ride it on 2 wheels it was funny just doing circles on 2 wheels.. till mom got scared because of all the deaths on 3 wheelers. I still rode it till Dad came back early and found the engine warm..... he swears it was cause of rust in the tank till this day. But it was running just fine before hand.. got stuck back on bicycles and would ride them for miles. Does it count for Iron but on a 10 speed for 50 miles straight? Eventually was stuck on four wheels for a bit but got the oportunity to get a 50cc scooter and got the itch. wasnt satisfied with 50mph and 10 up hills. So got a 150cc and wow made it all the way to 70mph, wasn't satisfied wanted more and bigger and something I could take a fishing pole or something with me, didn't like the look of Goldwings, thought the Kawasaki was just kind of well funny looking. Then there it was on craigslist, Sleek looking, had saddle bags and luggage, Call about it was informed they all came off with a key. peaked my interest even more. He would pull it out of hibernation, I was ready to give that 1500 for her but was gonna try to haggle. No need I got there he had her fired up warming up, told me that he would sell her for 1350 because of the right fork seal leaking. Took her for a spin on his yard I couldn't get the money out of my pocket, No litterally I couldn't I almost dropped her trying to get off so I could pull the cash out of my pocket because I forgot about the trusty ol kickstand. After that spin around the yard and it felt like I just came across his yard in lincoln town car.. she was smooth. It was instant love for her, I have sunk a pretty penny in her but I don't care she is well worth it. Its not even about that there is something else, I think its just the ability to be able to go slow and smell the country air. look at the scenery and not worry about wondering into the wrong lane.... and when I want to just Goto WOT at the drop of a hat and be gone.. If I so want. I don't think I would get this on any other bike. Tried the Rebel but it was just too cramped to me. The other was a Road star Didn't care for it much. I guess because I had already been spoiled by the 83 Venture... I guess why I ride is just the pure Freedom, the ability to ride How I feel like I want to ride on a paticular day, and it is trully a way to clear my head. It is also very hard to smoke a cigarette while riding a bike... almost 2 months now. Feeling better each day and notice I am no longer winded by stuff I used to get winded by, I have went up and down the stairs at my house 6 times within 10 minutes, when before I would be winded just by the first landing on them. So that is definatly a plus. And now I have found out I can do most of the work on the bike myself all thanks to you guys in here. I know Cowpuc when you opened my eyes a few months ago. I decided I watched to many people close to me wither away because of tobacco I didn't want my kids to see me wither away. I want to be there for my grandkids, and not hacking up a lung to get out of a chair...

So lets get this straight, You bought two of these for the price of one Ram mount. OK I see you only bought one but I picked mine up at the shop for $64 but my Ram Mount dont have a built in charger. Not a bad buy, I did like the fact the rubber pegs on mine came with glue to help them stay on. Like the purple too!!
