That would only add the volume of the spin on, at best it might get you up to using 4 quarts instead of 3.5. Not sure if there is room to have the spin on stick that far forward. have to do some measuring. With the size of my brain power it better be a small tax.......or I will reset to standard default programming...........................

OK just thinking out loud here. I do not think that those are cooling fins so much as strengthening ribs on the OEM Filter housing. On the other hand, the wall of a spin on filter is fairly thin so that will help to dissipate heat over its surface area. The ribs on the OEM housing are not real big. I would be curious to do the math and compare just how much of a difference there is in surface area between the OEM and a spin on setup. I bet it is less than you might think. Looking at this pic for comparison. I kind of like this black one better. I am not into shiny. Chrome is bad. I was thinking of getting one of these adapters for my bike. But now I am back to leaning toward designing and making my own, that way I can design in some cooling fins into all that smooth surface area that there is on the ebay adapter. Or for that matter take the one from ebay and just add the cooling fins to it. I am thinking that by adding fins to the adapter I can get even more cooling capability than the OEM. Dang, and I am due for my spring oil change right now too.................. I just sent the seller an email asking if the Venture has a cross bar issue like the V-Max does.

Sounds like fun. As mentioned, anytime you mess with the air filter or air box the carbs do not like it. You will have to either rejet or do like Zagger and restrict air or maybe a combination of both. I also made my own Valve tool, I originally copied the Yamaha tool, but that was very hard to machine. So I redesigned it to work the same but was a lot easier to make.

I have been having great luck putting this line in the ad along with the contact info; "Scammers don't bother, I know all your tricks" The scammers have to actually look at and read the add to get my contact info so they will always see it. It is rare that they waste their time on me, and as mentioned, they are really easy to spot. If they are dumb enough to still contact me I will make an effort to waste as much of their time as possible, That is time they can not spend scamming someone that does not know better.

I would also have him check for a plugged tank vent like the 2nd gens are known for. Run it till it quits and pop the gas tank filler, if there is a vacuum in there you will hear the rush of air and it will then start right back up.

I guess that it all depends on if there is pressurized oil being supplied to any part of the transmission, if it is just gears running in the sump the trans will not know if the engine is running or not. Cars with manual transmissions can be towed in neutral just fine, it is the automatic transmissions that can not be towed because the bearings are lubed by ATF fluid under pressure. I do not know anything about the lubrication system in a wing.

The tip over switch is what prevents you from laying in a pool of gasoline should the bike ever go down. With out the tip over switch the pump will just keep pumping until it sucks air in the tank. the floats in the carbs can not stop the flow when the bike is on its side. I have seen people take off with a side stand down, it is never pretty. Safety features are not where I would minimalize.

The only way the RR will cause running issues is if it has died and the system voltage is getting to low to make good spark. It is a simple test to check the voltage across the battery with the bike running at above 2000 rpm, it should be about 14V.

The FA123HH fits both fronts and rear on a 1st gen MK2. I know cuz I need to get some. I have no idea what the FA197HH fits.

I am in Milwaukee and it is staying north of here we just got a LOT of rain. We might get an inch of snow tomorrow as the tail end comes thru. Unfortunately it looks like it will completely miss Hayward WI where they are trying to hold the biggest cross country ski event in north America, The Birkebeiner. 40,000 people from all over the world are there to ski or watch skiing, and they have no snow. This storm literally missed them by 10 miles to the south. They may get about an inch, hardly enough to support 10,000 skiers.
