  1. Current target, set by moi, is "you, your bike, and a street sign with your first name in the name of the street" I DARE YOU!!
  2. move along people....nothing to see here!
  3. Lemme guess....the pizza is really great, right?
  4. My trusty 1982 XJ650 is gone; off to new adventures with a fine gentleman who hasn't had a bike for years and is getting back into it. Maybe I'll use the extra space in the garage to resume tinkering on the '79 XS1100 project since I no longer have a 'spare bike'. And now I have disposable $$$$ that will be reserved for accessories & maintenance on the RSV. Woot Woot Woot!
  5. Get a picture of you, your bike, and a street sign with your first name in the name of the street. (example for me would be Jim Drive, which I could get at a subdivision about 30 min away from my house)
  6. Once, I received email from a Nigerian Prince!
  7. ahhhh, you beat me to it but will share mine even though you were first and yours is better! Hmmmm, where can I find a one lane bridge......
  8. Looks like good stuff. Although I must admit I was hesitant to go to a site with that name.
  9. Thanks for posting, Eck. It's good to have reminders to keep us attentive when we are out there! Wow, Puc what's the rest of the story? What happened to the driver of the car? Was it determined that he really did it deliberately? Nothing we can do when it's a kook like that, except not be there in the first place....to me that one is more of a nutjob story and less of a 'bikes are dangerous' story. He could've just as easily decided to drive into a crowd of pedestrians or shoot up a DQ.
  10. Hey John, I hope you made it out! We rode that way Saturday so we went a different direction Sunday. Is the food there as good as the view? What are the prices like there?
  11. Bad, Jeff, Bad! No more snow!
  12. Testing my memory here... We're you the one who got a Miata? If so stick around and give us an update! Whatever you do; I wish you the best and many blessings!
  13. That's the side of a business in Marine City, Michigan. I don't know what's in there now! this is my first turn in the Hunt, and I don't want to blow it by repeating something that's already been used.... So how about a pic of you, your bike, and a lot full of school buses. (I hope that wasn't used before!)
  14. Art, the Pure Michigan campaign is pretty good! They've been running that theme for years; apparently a good return on the investment.
  15. Nice day in southeastern Michigan today! I puttered around outside at home doing productive stuff, then around 12:30 I was done and told my wife I was ready to ride. We geared up and hit the road on the RSV, heading north on M29 along the St Clair River through Marine City and St Clair, approaching Marysville. She tapped me on the shoulder and said "let's go on that little River Road" which is a side road that is actually called "River Road". It runs along the river for a couple of miles, giving great views, and even has a little one-lane, one way only section. We stopped for a photo op in the parking lot of a good-smelling riverside restaurant called Junction Buoy. Then, while we were still near Marysville, I offered to take her to a little craft store that she heard about but hadn't yet had the chance to visit. She scored some little balls of yarn that she was happy with, so we were in and out quick. But not before a quick picture with her trying hard not to squint facing the bright sun. We did some more miles and didn't do many pics but we did get hungry. So we stopped for a bite. It looks like the bike was keeping an eye on us from outside! We decided to go 'around the block' which took us from Kimball to Capac to Memphis and back to St. Clair where we again traveled on M29, this time going downriver. Along the roadside, there was this beautiful trailer for sale, looking very shiny and sexy in the bright sunlight. At $1995, it's more than I can spend for a cargo trailer, but I'll say that if it was a matching color for my RSV, I'd REALLY BE WANTING IT!! In Marine City, we went through the waterfront district where I spotted an opportunity to claim a target for the Great VR Scavenger Hunt, so I requested that Kathryn take this pic of Me, the bike, and the old building with painted sign. We ended up stopping to say HI to my Mom and Dad in Chesterfield after venturing past the Swirly Top which wasn't open for the season yet. That first ice-cream cone of the season will have to wait until next time. It was a great day. We did about 185 miles and saw lots of other bikes; hope some of you guys and gals got out today too!
  16. How's this? The words on the wall say "HALL FOR RENT"
  17. Man that thing looks little! Is that a big guy in the pic?
  18. Nice job. That's not a Frankenbike.... http://members.modernvespa.net/brilaz/uploads/leannag_frankenbike_126.jpg
  19. I did the full clutch disc and new spring. Ditched the 1/2 disc, washers, and wire. My bike has 24,000 miles, and wasn't slipping bad. I did feel definite slippage a few times under heavy acceleration at the higher rpm only. With that said, my test ride left me thinking it really didn't feel much different as far as clutch play, ease of squeezing, or smooth starts. Not hard to pull in and no lurching or feeling too "grabby". I jumped on the throttle and went hard from 1st to 3rd and there was no slippage at all. Maybe if I had put it off until my clutch got real slippy then I would notice a bigger difference. I will be riding two-up quite a bit so I'm sure it was worthwhile, especially if we end up getting a tag-a-long trailer like we are thinking about. Just not a 'night and day' difference right now. And thanks again to all who replied, and to Earl for confirming via PM to not use the wire and washers with the full disc upgrade. One additional note...I did remove the wire in 1 piece and it looked completely feasible to reuse it as it just wraps around the basket and the two ends thread into a hole together and get crimped/twisted to hold them.
  20. Went to the local independent shop, got a Napa Gold 1358 filter. Shaped more like the Yamaha filter in my pic a few posts up. It went on normally, I went about a 1/4 turn past where it made firm gasket contact, no leaks before or after test ride.
  21. It's ok Puc, your hijacking added value to the thread!
