Hooooooly... Glad you're alright!
-
Amen to that! It was truly epic to meet everybody and put faces to names! Had a great time, learned a LOT about my bike, and now I've got plans for her. I'll be sure to annoy the boss into giving me more than one day off for it next year.

Yammer Dan went down !
comingbackdown replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Prayers up! Get well soon, brother. It hits me hard hearing news like this, but I'm more than glad that you're still with us. -
Glad Y'all made it in alright!

On my way, and I'll likely be heading right through the middle of a storm. Here we go!

Got rain gear. Good to go! Now I have to manage to get out of bed early.

Glad to hear you're on the mend!

OEM Fuel Line
comingbackdown replied to Gypsygirl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
So did mine to an extent, but I went and grabbed some fuel line and a couple zip ties. Kinda had to since I removed the stock fuel filter. -
Good to go, save the fact that there's rain in the forecast last I saw, and I don't have proper rain gear. I have a poncho. I'll come up with something though, if it does indeed rain. Never rode during a rain, though I have had her out in the aftermath.

The manual made no mention of a crush washer. That was my issue. There wasn't one on there when I took it out. Now I think about it having solved the issue, it was probably over torqued to stop the leak sans washer. I didn't think that felt like thirty some pound feet. Found a molded replacement for the hose as well. Bigger id but she's holding.

key for saddle bags
comingbackdown replied to kinsmd69's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I got my bike there was only one key with it. I walked into the local True Value and they cut one on an Ilco YH51 blank that's worked since I had it cut. Cost me all of four bucks. Just my experience. -
So the other day, after a couple days absent from riding, I'm walking through the garage and what do I see beneath the bike... Forgive the Adrive links as I can't access photobucket at the moment. http://www.adrive.com/public/CmjADd/IMG_20150526_012132.jpg Well, that's not good. So tonight I go out there to ascertain the origins of the leak in Lady's bucket. I almost wish I hadn't, since now I get to replace more stuff. I kick her up on the center stand and crawl under, and... Well, crap. http://www.adrive.com/public/e8guDM/IMG_20150526_012047.jpg Yep, that's coolant running down that hose. So now I have to figure out how to drain the system and replace it. Just a trickle, so my guess is it's expanding under the heat and pressure and blowing out. Temp readings have been normal, so I'll have to see how much I've lost after I replace the hose. Then I start looking for an oil leak. At first I suspected the drain for the air box, but when that happened before it was far less oil and farther forward. I see the filter cover is oily, but it got soaked when I changed the filter so I'm not quite sure if there's any leak there or not but I don't believe so. I cannot see any other sign of an oil leak, until I see this: http://www.adrive.com/public/3r6DWY/IMG_20150526_012118.jpg Now that doggone drain plug was bone dry when I put it back and I torqued it and the filter cover to spec. I'm guessing that might be my leak, but aside from taking it for a ride and staring at it for an hour once I'm back, I'm short on ways to prove it. I'm also really lost as to why a drain plug torqued to spec with good threads would be leaking oil... or what I'd do to fix that issue. Bike week is coming up, and I really don't want to have to strap her into the bed of my truck for maintenance day either. Any suggestions or anything I'm missing?

You too, eh? Haven't had the chance to ride in a few days, and today I notice a wee little wet spot beneath Lady. Not huge, but not small enough for my comfort. Better be something stupid or insignificant or I'm gonna be uuuuuuupset. In and around the craziness at the start of the week I've got: a newer and slightly upgraded cage to pay for and get on the property (which needs a few things right off the bat), trying to offload my current cage, work, seeing if I can get my cell service transferred and a small list of other items to handle this week.

I got access to one. Not the greatest thing on the planet but if I can write with it is ahead of the curve. Have to request permission to bring it. That particular tool is one of dad's.

Schedule is done and I'm go for launch. Stuck working late Friday night but my happy backside has the big day off. While I'm thinkin' about it, I don't know the address to head for for this shindig.

Wow. Sorry to hear, but I'm glad you're still kicking. Thoughts and prayers your way. Get well soon, friend.

I may not be around much save lurking, but I'm glad to be here. Bunch of great people here, and without this site I would have been totally and utterly lost on this bike. I thank you all for being around to save my sorry behind if need be! Speak of which, I wouldn't have been able to do the maintenance I've done over the past few days if not for this place, and that was a LOT of maintenance. She should be road ready sometime after work tonight. Here's to many more years to come!

Gettin' close, and I still haven't gotten the two wheel back on the road yet! Hopefully that's tomorrow. Doing a laundry list of repairs. Holy moly! Only one I'm not doing that I wish I had the money for is replacing the damaged plastics. The garage is a mess of bike parts!
-
So looking forward to this! Haven't had the time to get the bike back on the road what with all the other aging vehiculars I've been wasting time fixing. Gotta get her on the road this week. Nothing to do tomorrow, so I think I'll mosey out to the garage, kick up some tunes, and spend an hour or so with a wrench in one hand a cold one in the other and parts scattered all over the place... and for once I probably won't be teaching the whole neighborhood new words while working on something...

Man, I'm with you here. I'm a bad kid and still smoke a pipe or a cigar...once every few months or so. Man am I glad I got rid of those cigarettes and chew though! Whoooooeeeeee! If I had every dollar I'd spent on those two my bike would look brand new, my gun safe would be full AND I wouldn't be broke! Hate to say it, but...Much as it bites, cold turkey is the way to go! Requires some serious willpower, but after a couple days you're alright, and after a couple weeks you're great. Couple months and you're in the clear. I'm 25 and had the same assumption. I don't call off work, not in my nature. By God right after Christmas I got the flu virus, and with a day off I spent four days off work and felt like death living for a good two weeks afterward. Still don't have my breath back. None of us are completely bulletproof. Hoping and praying you're healthy as a horse!

Avast is okay for a free AV program, but it's far from invincible. I'd run these in order to make sure you're clean, all can be found on Bleeping Computer. Rkill, TDSS Killer, AdwCleaner, CCleaner. With what you've already run, that should pretty much ensure you're good. If you have anything pop on Rkill or the TDSS tool, post what it detected. AdwCleaner is meant to remove adware and other such junk. It also wouldn't hurt to see if you have any pending updates.

Oh God... Those things are a real life horror story in a car, I don't want to imagine them on a bike. They eat through clear coat and damage paint as well, from what I've seen. Ick!

So How many of us are spending our Christmas Eve at work?
comingbackdown replied to Flyinfool's topic in Watering Hole
I worked 7:30-4 on Christmas Eve. Part time, no holiday pay, sucked.
