When I was first looking to buy a bike, I found and subbed this dude going by M13. He can be a bit abrasive, but seems like an okay guy. Evidently during his last tour (he runs a tour business) he got complacent. Next thing he knows, he's hit a wall. Scoot and pup are alright, but he managed to superman over a wall and kiss a roadway 30 some feet below. This ain't pretty: Evidently he's going to be bed ridden and wheelchair bound for a while, and he's going to lose some fingers. This is the guy that convinced me that I was ready to buy a bike. Sad, man. Prayers up and whatever else you got. He's got a long recovery ahead of him and it ain't going to be easy or fun.

What is your winter project for this year?
comingbackdown replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Provided the money is there for all of it: Progressive springs, make the swing arm fully greasable, TCI relocate, change plug wires, replace rotten muffler, make battery sensor bypass, fix a couple rusty spots on the frame, attempt CLASS repair maybe, install new radio, add highway pegs, rebuild rear master cylinder, new brake rotors. That's the short list. -
I have no idea how I'm going to remain sane over the winter! I haven't been able to ride for seven days straight and I'm about to grind my teeth down to stubs. Whoever figured out that mild electrical pulse would be good for pain relief needs a freakin' medal. OPs... I somehow clicked on edit, in place of the reply with quote tab, and not knowing I did this, I deleted a portion of your original thread about your back being out and that you can not ride. I certainly did not mean to delete anything. I thought I clicked reply with quote, but I somehow edited your original post.. forgive me...sorry.... Please see the P-Email that I sent you... Eck

So sorry. Man's best friend indeed!

Glad you're still with us! Never fun to unintentionally dismount, but always good when you can walk from it. Prayers your way for quick healing.

Augh! Don't ask. We've already had sleet and crap. I don't want to have to park the bike. :'(

Thanks! I was scratching my head for a moment wondering why it wasn't working, and then it clicked. The majority of my visits to the site are via the app.

Anybody want to post what they paid for their used bikes?
comingbackdown replied to pbjman's topic in Watering Hole
My '83 with the few issues and downgrades it had and cracked plastics at 43,000 miles was a grand even. I might reverse one of those downgrades if there's any way to hook the compressor up and if I can fix the controller. Compressor still kicks on with voltage, so might be worth a try. -

Sorry for your loss, brother. I'll be praying for you and yours. -
That's kind of the thing here. According to our own court system, the police have no duty to protect an individual. I live in a small, relatively quiet town. In the last year or so hard drugs have crept in. In the last two years two friends of mine have been involved in violent encounters, one of which a guy came at him out of nowhere and tried to cut him to ribbons. By the time anybody gets to you to help you might be long gone. As far as the incidents to the north lately, my condolences. Sadly, if things keep up as they are this may become widespread. I hate to even think about it, but when people preach murder...

For now. If this was indeed motivated by some crazy hateful religious rhetoric, there definitely won't be just one or two. *sigh* The world is losing its collective mind, I swear. That said, the town I live in has gone to absolute crap lately. Two years ago nobody in this town would even utter the word "heroin", now it's popping up in the news more and more. People ask me why I choose to pack heat. This is why. Cities change, neighborhoods change, and there is such a thing as evil in the world. This seems to be a growing trend though. This is neither the first such story I've heard this year nor the fiftieth. I've lost count at this point.

I'll recommend Chrome any day. It's very lightweight and I've had very few issues with it. -
I had an idea that something had gone sideways with the server. I would just like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the very existence of this site, and to everyone here. I've gotten so much help with this bike here and I would have been quite lost without this place. I would gladly offer my assistance if I had any more expertise than HTML/CSS, though I do believe it's time to broaden those horizons. Freebird, I thank you for what you do here. Hopefully our paths will cross one of these days.

I love our old Wheel Horse. Think I'll get her running again next Spring and fix the deck on her.

Laid the bike down - wrenched the knee

Heal up fast! I'm not gonna tell you that a big first bike is a terrible idea, because my '83 is my first bike. That said, you gotta be damned careful and take it slooooow. Within my first month, I managed to lose control at low speed and when I went to dive off the bike pulled me into a split and I didn't walk straight for days. I've dropped her since then. Never get cocky, and take things slow and easy until you get things smoothed out. -
Woah. Holy cow! Glad you're alright. I'll be praying for your swift recovery. Just a reminder to us all it can happen, and it does. Never forget that "I love you" on the way out the door.

What do you love most about riding?
comingbackdown replied to Broncoboy36081's topic in Watering Hole
I haven't been at this very long, but here's my take on it. I drive delivery the majority of my time on the job. I spend hours a day in a cage. It's gotten to the point that I dread having to take my truck to work. Riding is my freedom, my time to let it all go and spend some time with my friend upstairs. I love wrenching and I love riding. Now the situation is different. I was riding on a permit. Friday I got my endorsement. Now I can hop on that bike on a day off and go wherever I please. The freedom thrills me! -
Indeed! Thoughts and prayers your way from the lot of us.

I was not aware of this. One learns something new every day. Haven't had this happen in the months I've owned this beast. Maybe due to the cooler temperatures combined with a couple days of sitting in the garage? We'll see what happens when I get the chance to fire her up. No clue what oil is even in this thing at the moment. Since I intend to ride 'til it snows and maybe after, maybe I'll go ahead and change it. I've got that to do, I've got plugs to change, I can get an oil filter where I work, but it's a factory order for a top grade filter (I'm an oil/filter snob. That's one thing that I will NEVER skimp on.) so it's a good week's wait. Maybe I'll order a couple so I don't have to wait next time. We've got Iridium plugs in stock that are supposed to fit her, suppose I'll pull one and compare. Only other thing in our catalog for it is basic copper plugs and I'm not interested in those.

*sigh* ...and she still won't roll in gear. Cleaned the fluid up in the clutch reservoir, bled the crap out of it, zero sign of any air, still nothing. I really did want to ride tomorrow but I guess that isn't going to happen. Okay so I pumped the clutch lever like a madman and finally got her moving, but it's noticeably harder to move than when in neutral. That's different. Maybe it's dragging?
