  1. I'll be going to Maggie Valley over Labor Day Weekend for the Trike Talk Rally....
  2. I know that Venture love the high revs and we don't need to be in 5th gear unless at highway speeds. I'm still trying to get use to not going into 5th gear for the other 99% of the time I'm riding. My question is for those of you who have owned a V Star 1100. At what speed range to you use 5th gear. I have noticed at night when I come to work on the freeway that it love running around 55-60 in 4th gear. It runs very smooth and quiet. If I go over that in 4th it tends to rap a little and the same if I go to 5th gear without increasing speed. I think the "rap" sound is just the sound of the exhaust. The bike has a hypercharger and Hard Chrome exhaust which I think has a "tin" sound anyways.
  3. going try to be at Lake George between noon and 1pm. I will be all packed and ready to head out as soon as I get home from work. How quick I get on the road depends if I'm traveling alone or waiting for my friend to be "travel ready"......
  4. Thanks Puc, Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I lost my mom on Sept 11th, 2014 about 11:45pm.......Friday would have been her 81st birthday. I think she was at my house since there was a beautiful cardinal in my yard that day!! I'll give them a shout. Been a long time since I've had "real" Jerky. When I was in the Air Force I use to get some from friend who lived in North Dakota. Thanks again for the info...
  5. PUC, did you mention Jerky????? what does that run per bag? I may be interested in having some shipped out this way.......
  6. Ya'all done good!! LOL Wish you guys were around to figure out how to get my chrome radiator grill cover on without removing the hoses....I tried what one guy told me and all I did was dent the top of my radiator. That project will need to wait until I get a lift (and a place to put it).
  7. I just came across this picture and it made me laugh. I was having an "issue" with my CB not working so after the ride, I was looking things over. First one guy, then 2, 3, 4........ Finally determined that the CB was never hooked back up when the did the trike conversion. A few hours earlier the guys changed out my clutch. Had two working on it and 6 supervisors....What a great bunch of guys!!
  8. Will anyone be at Americade on Friday/Sat the 10th/11th of June? I should be heading up Friday morning. Will spend the night about 30 miles from Lake George and head home Saturday afternoon.
  9. looking forward to hearing about this adventure as I am starting the planning for next summer. I plan on going to the same area, Badlands, Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil's tower. If all goes well time wise, I plan on coming home with a stop in WI, shoot to the UP and cross into Canada then cross back over in NH..........hoping I can do it all in 16 days.

  11. http://www.starpartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/5004750af8700209bc797ee3/audio-equipment-1 great site to find ANY OEM part for your Venture. They also have Yamaha accessories.
  12. Duct tape and silicone spray and you will be good for another year or 3..........
  13. Congrats Puc....with that new toy I can see why you are smiling. I'm keeping an eye to the sky....watching for you on "Cloud 9"
  14. What sux is you shouldn't have to "rig" something with tape or Velcro for it to fit correctly.....that drives me crazy....but as some folks have told me...don't sweat it...you are within walking distance (of crazy)...LOL
  15. I was going to try the two sided tape. thanks for sharing that info. Also, it is the middle tab that will not catch...drives me crazy to see it lifted up whenever I stop. Thanks again!!
  16. no, they are fine also... I'm going to try a modification to the tabs...may or may not work...
  17. All tabs are intact and unbroken. I bought a new trim piece to replace the one with broken tabs. I even bought and installed the damper that goes behind the trim..
  18. Does anyone know the secret to keep the chrome windshield trim from lifting up? I was very careful putting it back on and even added the foam damper to the back of the trim however the trim piece continues to lift leaving a gap between it and the fairing in which the plastic tabs are visible.
  19. if using contact cleaner, you may want to hit the connectors with some compressed air to make sure the contact cleaner is dried or blown out since it is flammable...
  20. Does anyone have illuminated handlebar switches on their Venture? I know they make them for the Goldwings, just wondering if they could work on the Venture?
  21. Don't know much about 1st Gens and I'm learning about 2nd gens as I go. However to me, it sounds like you may have some Harley parts on your bike....
  22. it the top half of the paint Hydrodip?? Looks great..
  23. I'll dig thru my boxes of parts and list info as soon as I find it. Just saw Freebird's post, I do believe it is MicMute
  24. They did a total hack job cutting the floorboards so they just replaced them...As far as the body, I do not know why. What I was told was the owner decided it was more cost efficient to just give me a new one rather then to spend the time to strip down, sand, primer and paint the old one. Hannigan also did the new paint job that is on the trike. I was told by the dealer when I ordered the trike that he would do the black floorboards and run the black up under the trunk. Well, Hannigan doesn't do that for the Venture. They paint the entire floorboards and body red and just do black around the outside of the wheel wells. I'm sure the dealer ate the bill for the new paint, body and floorboards as well as the cost of his trip to KY for two weeks....
  25. Thanks for that info..what surprised me was NO sanding. That sure does simplify things. I may try the window film first and if I don't like that, I may paint.
