  1. what does the backside of the audio control piece look like? Is it finished?
  2. Removed the Tour Pak and mounted the Mustang Passenger back rest.... I'm really liking this bike. Going to be hard to part with it...
  3. Just for the record you cannot write off your divorce as "home improvement".......I already tried!!
  4. Yes, it was strange to put my feet down at stops. First few were a bit shaky..LOL This 1100 is a nice little bike. Nice response in the turns and it has some nuts to get up and go. I like the lower seat also. I'm so use to my Venture seat that after only 50 mile loop I was ready to get off the bike. I'll probably be selling this soon or using it as part of my final payment for my trike (hope it is finished next week...FINALLY)....
  5. Don't think is would be a good idea to stop to pick up a girl..........
  6. Drove to Virginia last Tues night and brought this home. I will get it out of the shop this morning at 9:30 and give it a little shake down run of a 100+ miles or so. Had the shop go over it and change fluid. It was idling very high and needed a little carb work from not being ridden. Should be fun to ride!!
  7. Bob, I checked out the Ontario gathering....I figure I'd rather be riding in the Canadian countryside then dodging traffic near Cincinnati......SO, I cancelled the OH trip and rebooked for Ontario!!! I just need to adjust my vacation days a little.........
  8. damaged speakers? pinched wires? I had the same thing tut the dialectic grease cured it.
  9. YamaMama, I'm surprised by that patch since Star Riding insists they are NOT a Motorcycle CLub. Their "rules or policy" states that you are not to have MC anywhere on your vests. Interesting....
  10. I can't vouch for what they do at the National Rally since I have not been to one. When I first joined Star in 1999 it was only a couple years old and growing fast. A few years after that, Yamaha Corp got involved and named Star Touring and Riding as the only Yamaha recognized riding group sponsored by Yamaha Corp. AT this time, though I'm a member of Star, I do not belong to a local chapter so I have no idea what they do for fund raising other then what I read. I'm hoping to meet some of the folks I use to ride with when I was a member in CA. If I'm not liking the way things are going, I will venture out on my own or even leave the area early and take the long way hone and see many miles of back roads as well as a few stops to visit former military friends and high school classmates. I will make the best of the trip.
  11. Eck, do you hear banjo music??????
  12. Called Mole 5 and Mole 6 check out this page,it has the entire breakdown of the fairing with part numbers and prices... http://www.starpartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/50047503f8700209bc797ed3/cowling-1
  13. I will have my Nasty Boy pipes for sale once I get them back from the dealer when my conversion is finished. I think Eck is first in line for them at this point. Not only didi they cost $400+ but then you have to add in FOUR Family Jewles to finish them off at a tune of around $70 each!!! BTW. love the sound....if they would fit with my Hannigan trike kit, they WOULD be on my trike!!
  14. check out this place. I have saved a ton getting parts from them. http://www.starpartshouse.com/oemparts/#/l/yam/500474f2f8700209bc797eab/2009-royal-star-venture-xvz13tfyr-parts
  15. you don't need to ride a Yamaha to ride with Star!! Hell, we even let HDs go with us (as long as they have a chase vehicle to haul them home)....... check out Startouring.org
  16. Bob, I was thinking about two long (fun) days of riding to get there but on the way back, I was thinking of a full days ride to Olean, NY and spend the night. Next moring head to Spragues for breakfast and then up to Letchworth State Park to show my friend. From there will ride about 150 - 200 miles and spend a night. Next day will be an easy 240 miles home before going to work that night at midnight...
  17. I have an 09 Venture with a Hannigan trike kit. I had the reverse put on when it was converted. Hannigan uses a starter motor for reverse. It's fast and noisy. I do not know if hey will sell directly to owners or only to dealers who are certified to install there products. Best thing to do is call Hannigan Motorsports or shoot them an email. They are closed Sat/Sun and are located in Murray Kentucky.
  18. Yama Mama, you don't need to be member to attend. You however would need to register and sign the "event" waiver. If you wanted to attend any of the dinners you would need to pay for the registration package...at least that is what I gathered from reading the FAQ on the Star Days site. I'm leaning towards heading that way. I was in KY in Feb and was thinking how nice those roads would be on a trike in the summer or fall......
  19. I just started riding in 1999 so my list of bikes is much shorter then most of you. 1999 VStar 650 Classic 2000MM roadstar 2009 RSTD 2009 RSV........Last year had this bike "triked" with a Hannigan kit
  20. That would be nice since you would know some nice rides. I've been undecided about this location since it's so close to the city. Is it worth the trip? My nephew lives in New Albany which I believe is about 100 miles norheast of there.....at least I could stop by for a visit.
  21. Puc, Star Days is the National gathering for Star Touring and Riding. They were the 1st official riding group sponsored by Yamaha. I have been a memeber since 99 with the exception of a couple years I had not wheels. It started out with a small group from AZ and quickly grew to international. It's a "family" motorcycle group with the major focus on safety and family fun. They welcome anyone with any type of bike to the group no just Star owners. I was a member of The Inland Empire chapter #109 for 5 years and served as a Tail Gunner. Still a memeber of ST&R but not a specific chapter... check them out at Startouring.org
  22. Anyone planning on going to Star Days in Cincinnati, OH July 18-22? It's the 20th Anniversary of Star Touring and Riding. I'm trying to decide if I want to attend Star Days or Stop in Davis WV for the Venture gathering on my way home from Maggie Valley (trike talk gathering) in Sept.....
  23. Nowadays, they use air tools to remove the lug nuts / wheels, they use air ratchets to remove the bolts thus cutting the labor time down to minutes, and yet they charge 5 to 6 times as much to do the same job. ECK, the price is 5x higher because they have to pay for the air.
  24. Sounds like a deal since shops around here are getting $89/hr labor
  25. Bob, I would already be out riding if I had my trike back!!! The dealer STILL has it and gave me April 10th as a completion date. Knowing his track record I'm not holding my breath. He was supposed to take it back to Hannigan this week for training on how to "properly" install the emergency brake. To my knowledge, he isn't even on their schedule. I may just push him to get the chrome wheel on the front along with my white wall tire and then settle up with him financially. If he is smart, he will give a great deal of thought when he writes out that bill......since this build has been ongoing for a year and a half and counting.
