You many want to consider some Mark II forks to get the 4 piston brake calipers if you can find a set for cheap. Excellent work on that bike bringing it back! Keep us updated with lots of photos. We love to read about a restoration!

Yep, Freebird was spot on I think. The more electricity you use, the lower the voltage and the higher the amps. It takes a certain amount of watts to do the work and volts x amps =watts. Think if it like a water system. It has a certain pressure (voltage). The more water you use (amps), the lower the pressure. If the voltage gets too low and the amps too high, the motor will get hot, possibly too hot.

That salve is probably no longer available because they fed a rat 10lbs of it and it got cancer.

Wow! What a great job you have done bringing it back! A local guy has a blonde 83 for sale. It has about 40k miles on it.

I just looked at my parts. The electrical plug housing is a Dorman brand made in china. The filter is a Wix made in Taiwan. And the conductor plate is supposed to be a Dorman but the only name on it is Mercedes Benz which is on the plate in two places along with the Mercedes symbol. This makes me guess that Dorman makes the plate for Mercedes.

If you haven't seen them, you might want to see these videos. There are 12 of them and all are on the internet.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered a torque wrench, the Capri Tools 31200 20-150 Inch Pound Industrial Torque Wrench, 1/4" Drive. Supposed to be made in Taiwan. I ordered it from Home Depot. Free shipping from Home Depot. I don't like Bezos politics.

Come on over! You are welcome any time! I bought the conductor plate from rockauto.com for about $150. All the parts stores seem to sell the same brand which is Dorman. I was quoted about $1600 at the dealer to do the job, $900, and $500 at two transmission shops. The dealer wanted $963 for just the conductor plate. A while back I bought a dipstick from B&M that is designed to stay in place. I'm not sure I trust it though. According to it, my transmission was overfull and I had had the dealer check it a couple years prior to that. Yeah, what I dread the most is getting that beast up off the ground high enough to work under it. Being so low to the ground and with the unibody construction it ain't like my old chevy's. After getting this dang Shingles under control, I will tackle the job and let you know how it turned out.

I did look at the HF 1/4" drive torque wrench and they are out of stock. I also looked at Lowes.com and the one they sell Tekton has only a few reviews and they are all bad. When I needed a torque wrench for a 221 ft lb torque for the front wheel spindle on my truck, I bought the Lowes brand Kobalt.

I started taking Valtrex 3 days ago and the Dr. prescribed Tylenol/Codeine for pain. I have been taking ibuprofen too for the pain. And the pain has almost gone away. The blisters are drying up. But the last couple of days my left knee the affected knee will collapse on me if I put too much weight on it or let it bend too far. I fell today because of the knee collapseing and I had been doing a set of 50 squats 3 times a week before this debacle. I'm on the mend though and I'm very grateful for that.

I have the need for a torque wrench that can measure 72 in. lbs. Anybody have any recommendations for a quality unit? I was looking at a Proto or Matco. My 2005 Dodge Magnum RT has a Mercedes transmission and this model is infamous for the electro-hydraulic conductor plate failing. It is mounted on top of the valve body and the valve body bolts have a torque rating of 72 in. lbs. That is the need. I'm tempted to do the job with my calibrated arms. It's 6 ft. lbs which shouldn't be too hard to guess at.

I've seen a tv ad a couple of times in the last week, a law firm advertising for clients who have had bad effects after taking the shingles prevention vaccine. Evidently, some who have taken it have gotten shingles or had other complications. My sister took the shot and had no ill effects and she hasn't had shingles.

I think it is important to exercise while losing weight so you won't lose muscle with the fat. Exercising doesn't help me much as far as losing weight though. I think you have to run about 25 miles to burn enough calories that equals a lb of fat. I'm sure it stimulates your metabulism though.

Chicken and dumplings, probably what I call chicken pot pie is the best. I would definitely overeat if that was on the table.

Late last week, shingles jumped on me. I suppose I should have taken the shingles preventive shot. I didn't realize just how bad it is. The blisters on my left butt cheek and left thigh aren't so bad but it affects the nerves. I've had lots of pain in my left hip and I never had pain in my left hip before and pain in my left knee. A large area on the front side of my knee feels numb. It only attacks one side of the body for some strange reason. It was impossible to sleep much for several nights because of the hip pain. After a couple days, I realized it wasn't caused by an allergic reaction but was shingles and yesterday went to a doctor and go some meds. I felt really bad for several days but the meds are working and this afternoon is the first time in several days I felt somewhat normal. The doctor didn't say to do this but I also have been putting HL30 Herpicin, a lip ointment on the blisters since the shingles virus is a version of the herpes virus. Soooo, if you have had chickenpox you may get shingles too. The shot may be something to consider.

Everybody has their own method of losing weight. I used to start by drinking a can of slimfast for breakfast, another for lunch and eating enough supper to total 1000 calories for the day. It's really tough the first couple of days but after that the body switches to burning body fat and I wasn't as hungry. I'd lose 15 lbs in 2 weeks and afterwards switched to regular food and kept the calorie count to 2000 calories per day until I lost what I wanted to. Then I would adjust to a maintenance calorie count. Now, I just cut back on the calories but it's hard to do.

I was trying to say my back is about 2" shorter than it used to be. And I used to weigh 260lbs when I finished my 3 yr 8 month contract job in Fl in 2013 that included 7 months of 6- 12's towards the end of the job. My weight really got out of hand. My heartbeat was irregular especially late in the work day. My back was really painful at times. That job almost killed me but I made a ton of money, well over $500k total the last two years and I only worked 8 months that last year! After coming home, I lost 30lbs by eating about half what I had been and got back on the exercise program and my heartbeat has been regular since then. Gained 5 lbs since then and it's past time to lose a bunch more weight.

I think one of the requirements of losing weight is to go to bed hungry:bang head: I'm at 235 and boy I surely would like to lose 35 of that. I used to be just under 6' but now I'm 5'10". Makes my stomach bigger with all those flat back discs!
