KIC and I were yapping this afternoon. I was curious if anyone knows how the damper works on the rear shock? I'm thinking it's nothing more than changing an orifice internal to the shock that controls the amount of fluid flow..... via an external flexible cable to the 4 position knob on on lower left side. It's that correct? Anyone know how it works and why the manual says don't change settings quickly, rather supposed to go up one setting at a time?? Thanks!

Getting back to the subject on hand... For national meets, I would say the center didn't matter. What matters is when Orlin and people like him volunteer to hold those meets. That said, the lower 48 should be considered... Putting Kansas or near there, the ideal place for the national USA meets. The International should be just that. We have enough members in Europe area that could hold a meet...... Or, do away with the word "International", and just have regional meets; USA, Europe, Asia...etc. Don, why the discussion? What's the reasoning behind bringing this up? Looking for opinions, thinking change????

....you guys had it rough. I only had to walk 3 miles up hill both ways to school! I do love winter and snow, but had a very hard time in 2013 living on Newcastle Island in New Hampshire. It wasn't the cold, snow, or ice that got me, it was being cooped up for the winter! Guess after 40 years of Arizona, i was used to going out and playing 24/7/365. I couldn't go out and work on boat, it was under six feet of snow. The scoot was in a storage unit...I would visit it and sigh. Nope, didn't like that at all. So moved back. It's true, you can't go home again.... So.... Do enjoy your winter.... And I'll munch on hot dogs with rum ball chasers sitting on my back patio... Deciding which scoot to ride tomorrow...

I stopped cable five years ago after repeated conversations with them about upping my bill. They wouldn't stop so I left. Only have internet and OTA tv. Large antenna on roof gets free tv from 47 miles away. No home phone either.. Cut that out and went cell only. Just not worth it.....

Newbie best mods!

Welcome,Dave. Lots of posts on lowering front end. Pictures as well. I've done it twice now, as I didn't go far enough first time. When I got a leaking shock, I went ahead and lowered front a tad more. Relatively easy. -
I wrote and produced a Christmas Radio Special in 1971 that was broadcast all over Europe on the American Forces Radio Network. I was stationed in Turkey at the time. Was about the customs and legends of Christmas. I learned quite a bit researching the show!! Now, I just barely get finished carving the Thanksgiving turkey, and I find I'm late on getting out my Christmas cards.....again!! Who put the clock on fast forward?? Do enjoy the Holidays, they just come and go way to quickly anymore. Yikes, gotta hit the sack. I think I just heard Santa.... Night all.. Merry Christmas...

got some time finally, MPG questions.
videoarizona replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
: Will the "J" mod help the popping on throttle shut down. I tried both ways. Never noticed a difference in backfiring and/or mpg's. I've got all 4 ports capped now. Gave up trying to figure out what it does...or did for me! : Do I sync the carbs fist then do the mod or vice versa? Last thing you do is sync. Check everything else first: plugs, wires, coils, air cleaner, valves, etc., then sync. : I know that riding style has a lot to do with mileage, however even keeping the rev's up doesn't help as much when all your driving is stop and go. I do get slightly better on trips by keeping the RPM higher (shifting into 5th above 60 MPH) What else will help with fuel economy? i'm currently getting about 125 135 miles per tank when the fuel light comes on.(i always pull over and get gas the second the light comes on) i'm usually putting in just around 4 gallons sometimes a little less sometime a little more. On my 89VR, I let her rev. MPG's on the VR seem to be solely dependent on my right wrist action! On the 05 RSV, I shift at lower speeds until 4th gear. Then stay in 4th until 65 ish. Yesterdays 4 hour trip I never hit 5th at all, riding the country roads at 55mph or 60. That seems to give me the best mpg's on the RSV. Averaging 38 to 40. I'm thinking the only thing I can do is to change to a VMax rear end to bring the rpm's back up a tad higher in all gears. That should help me keep the engine in it's most optimum RPM range. Regarding your fill ups. One thing to note: If you are only adding 4 gallons with the fuel light on, that means you have 2 more gallons to go....about 60-70 plus more miles before empty. So that tells me your fuel sender/float is a tad off. Not a problem, but you should be able to ignore the light and keep going until your motor stumbles, then turn fuel to reserve and continue another 30 to 40 miles. In other words, your gauge and/or light may be off, but it sounds to me your miles per tank would be right if you kept going....so bottom line is...if you get stuck in nowhereland and the light comes on...keep riding. You should be good for another 60 to 70 miles!! That's a good thing. Plus the RSV plows a lot more air than the VR does. I have the largest Clearview windshield as well....and that doesn't help with mpg's!! -
Yep....
