  1. Does anyone have a comprehensive/complete list of recommended parts when installing new springs in the fork? Leak proof offers 2 different seals. Amazon doesn't recognize the Leakproof P/Ns. The Leakproof seals are on eBay. Besides Yamaha and Leakproof are there other sources for seals? Should I replace bushings and the spacers because I'm in the tubes anyway? My '88 has 65k miles on it, the forks bottom out pretty easily. Could this be the dampeners on the forks? If it is is there a venturerider easy solution /test to determine if the dampeners are at fault and therefor I wouldn't have to replace the springs? I could use some guidance and advice!
  2. It figures, after I searched and couldn't THIS very pair somebody does find them! This was the very pair the guy on youtube used! I could not find them on the internet, Amazon and a general search. I searched eBay and found them for $24.00 and $10.00 shipping from Britain, didn't want to pay that much or wait so I bought a 4 piece set, if they don't work I'll order this one. THANKS for finding them!
  3. I need snap ring pliers that will reach down into the clutch and brake master cylinder C-Clip in order to remover the ring and get the innerds out? They have to have a long reach; and they have to be the style that closes when you squeeze them. Guess you all thing I'm a little dexlectic looking at that subject title....
  4. I got the plugs changed out this morning, started it and all the pipes go hot so I can safely assume we're firing on all cylinders! Was looking back on my old posts and pvt. messages...wow how I have forgotten so much... must be age! I found a penny in the left front spark plug hole, it was in the way of the socket; now I have found stones & hardware there but never money...guess it pays to change your plugs!
  5. Will R-1 brake calipers "Bolt on" (fit w/o mods) on my '88?
  6. Sorry for the delayed response! The brake light doesn't come on at all. Only the running lights and i haven't even thought about the blinkers! I figure it's a pressure activated switch.... or the wiring... Doug
  7. Rick, Except for the color that looks EXACTLY like my saddle bags....... I meant to post a pic for ya but life happened.... Doug
  8. I have several 83 to 85 Royals with the air compressor, am/fm cassette, intercom, and rear shock. If I can make the air suspension and intercom work (If I can find the wiring and such) I will install them on the '88. I have a Mk 2 set of forks, how can I tell if they are Royal forks or plain Jane forks? The forks CURRENTLY on the bike need a new set of springs (do they even have springs?) or refilled with fluid (what fluid goes in there anyway?), and what's the "boxy"thing on each front caliper?
  9. OK, got the '88 running, took it for a ride around the 'hood.... the forks bottom out and no brake light, and although I filled and bled the rear brake master cylinder I still got NO brakes when using the rear brake pedal....any ideas?
  10. All the overhaul kits have been ordered and will be or are on the way shortly, BUT I will visit the source/web site you gave and put in my favorites for future reference! Thanks for the source!
  11. ------> Thinking we need more input from cimmer (see above)! I ran a search for "Yamaha Vixen" looking at the picture search results and saw a lot of bikes but no XVZs of any description.
  12. I wouldn't know what to search for, are they sold by application or is it by spec. or what?
  13. On my XVZ13 (1988) Is the part number (4H7-W0041-50-00) for the clutch master cylinder (on the left hand handle bar) seal kit the same as the front brake (on the right hand handle bar) master cylinder? Where in the parts book would I find this?
  14. Thanks Tim, I have plenty of other clutch/brake master cylinders in case there is pitting in the ones on the bike.
  15. I'm trying to determine what letters following the "XVZ13" on my bare bones 1988 Venture; possibly a "Vixen" (bare bones) model. I gather it's a 'U" or a "UC" or could it be "U/UC"? Is ther a owner's manual or a specific service manual for this bike? I have the Mk 1 Service manual. VIN is JYA2LWE02JA003243. Scale weight is 721 lbs., a little lighter than the Royales... I checked the VIN decoder linked elsewhere in the forums (here) and all it told me is who built the bike. Doug
  16. I think you are correct as it has none of the options that would make it a Royale, however I have several Royale parts bikes..... hehehehe.....
  17. Certainly not a Royale with no compressor or intercom, the old registration calls it a XVZ13U, I don't know if it's a "U" or the title clerck left the "C" off the nomenclature, any ideas? The VIN is JYA2LWE02JA003243.
  18. I'm pretty sure this isn't a Royale as there is no air compressor or intercom. Would like to know what model (U or UC) it is....
  19. Rick, Thanks for the input; this is my 6th Venture. I have 5 parts bikes and 2 Ventures I hope to drive; I have a '99 Road Star too.. The last one I purchased ran fine at the POs house, I drove it home and the next day (in the morning) I fully expected to ride it to work, it didn't start then and hasn't started since (2 years gone by), granted i lost interest, bought a new (to me) Avalanche and have been obsessing over it.... now it's back to the bikes... So do you have a source for those sexy braided steel brake hoses?
  20. I ordered the overhaul kits for 3 calipers (all calipers use the same seal kit, imagine that!) I also ordered the front brake and clutch master cylinder seal kits and the rear brake master cylinder kit seal kit. Thank Goodness for Partzilla.com, Boats.net, and Amazon!
  21. Could not the seals and such be reformulated to allow for the use of hyd. fluid? If so we'd then be buying a lot less brake fluid and seal kits i would allow!
  22. The new plan is to rebuild the calipers, slave and master cylinders. This will involve the bleeding process of course....
