  1. Here is the sound comparison video I promised. They sound good at idle but when you open the bike up its just too much. The low frequency thumping and reverberation when sitting on the bike is what I cannot stand. Too bad. I did check and it has the original baffles and they are intact - they have not been punched out. Trying to sell locally as shipping on these is massive due to their weight. Enjoy the short movie! Its posted on the Ventureriders Facebook page as I could not figure out to upload here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/144033808988878/
  2. I will try to sell them locally as shipping on these is a killer. They are heavy. I will be asking $450cnd to try to recoup some of my costs as I have almost $600cnd invested including the $120 for international shipping.
  3. I use the jacket from this set: https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/nelson-rigg-as-3000-aston-rain-suit.html With these rain pants: https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/nelson-rigg-as-250-aston-rain-pants.html Works very well, but I do not wait for the rain to start to put it on. Got caught once in putting it on in the rain and that was not pleasant. Will get warm but keeps you dry! Well built also for the price. Wanted hi-viz all the way so that is why the extra pants.
  4. from Freebird: This is surprising to me. I had the Monster Rounds on the Road Glide and they just weren't that loud. I have never looked into it but can they be repacked? I wonder if somebody removed the bafflers in the past? There has to be a reason why yours are so loud. They look stock, however I did send a note to the PO asking if they had been modified and he is not responding. TDbiker gave me a lead in a post below on how to quiet them down, but they are so loud that I don't think that will work and I don't want to sink any more money or time and effort in these. Will just lick my wounds and move on. Thanks again for your help in getting them mounted. I know its not the final result that was expected, but your assistance is greatly appreciated!
  5. Well, this is not good! Took the bike out for a ride last night (150 miles) and I will not be able to deal with the noise level of the MO's. As the sound frequency is so much lower it results in a drone sound (like the kid in the cage with bass all the way up) that resonates through your body. As well, when you open the bike up, its like having no pipes at all. I got so self conscious about the noise I was making that I was actually all tensed up and did not enjoy the ride. Ears where sore and stress levels were up. Way too loud for me. I am disappointed as I was looking forward to these for their looks and the sound clips I had heard on them made them actually sound like they would be quieter than my RK pipes. Confirmed this with my wife this morning who indicated that she could hear me going and coming from a mile away, not to speak of the house shaking when I got into the garage. She also mentioned that she will not get on the bike with those on...and I cannot blame her. So they will come off and the RK's will go back on...... I promised you a sound clip to compare them to the RK pipes and that is coming soon.....
  6. Hope things work out. My experience with zoning issues or things like this tells me that it is important to have open communications and to not get confrontational (even when the other guy does!). If all remain calm and focus on the issues (make a valiant effort to address issues and concerns that are reasonable) you should get resolution. Good luck with it!
  7. After receiving a bit of very good and well timed advice from Don(Aka: Freebird) yesterday I was able to tackle and complete the install of the Monster Ovals. Had to modify my brackets made for the RK pipes and also rented a pipe extender tool to open up the front part so they would fit. Finished late last night and was only able to start her up this morning to listen. A bit louder than what I expected but that was in the garage with lots of resonance. Can't wait to try them out tonight.....will post a video in the next few days comparing the sound of the RK's to the MO's. In the meantime, here are a few pics from the install....First one shows how the attachment points were different , next shows how I had to drill new holes in my bracket, then with one on to compare size with RK pipe and last 2 are with both MO's installed.
  8. I watch it to see where they visit. Its hit or miss for me on the approach sometimes, but overall not a bad show.
  9. Had a chance to calm down a bit... Will try the pipe expander trick and that should work. The main difference is the location of the attachment point. They are at least 2 inches farther forward that those on the RK pipes. They are also placed closer together. I guess I can drill new holes in my adapter bracket. Am frustrated as I thought they would be a direct fit since I had already moved to RK pipes. Those MO's are heavy though.
  10. My Monster Ovals arrived today but the mounting points on then are not even close to the ones on my RK pipes. Also, the dimension of the pipe at the flange is too small. Here is what the ad said, what did I miss :bang head: Monster Ovals - for Harley Touring Bikes (RoadKing, StreetGlide, Road Glide, Electra, Ultra, etc.) In excellent condition. Wonderful mellow, deep tone, great chrome. Some scratches underneath, not visible when mounted. Has new Vance & Hines hardware for these (brackets, nut plates, etc). You can use your stock muffler clamps (these fit all 1 3/4" touring exhaust systems). Off of a 2016 Street Glide, but should fit all 1995 - 2016 Touring Models. Retail is around $800 US for these.
  11. As you head down the NB coast on the strait stick to secondary roads and you will get better views. Could be a little rought though. Places to see include Kouchibouguac Natl Park, Dunes Boardwalk in Bouctouche, Parlee Beach. On Fundy Coast, take the route from Moncton to Hopewell Cape and see the Rock Prov Park - highest tides in North America, then go to Fundy Park. If you come through Fredericton give me a shout and I could do part of the road with you. Enjoy!
  12. Someone is affirming on a FB Group that Yamaha has been placing Cats on RSV's and Tour Deluxe since 2006 :confused07: https://www.facebook.com/groups/21338336667/ I replied that it was not possible, but is it?
  13. Found this on kijiji - some creative writing going on there - lol :whistling: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-touring/city-of-toronto/yamaha-venture-royal-star-quad-four/1175422038?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
  14. It is very easy to do it yourself and you will save on the 70$ to 90$ per hour for labor. Just make sure to recycle the used stuff.
  15. What Freebird said:sign yeah that: VH does not make pipes for the RSV, we need to use those made for HD's.
  16. Not to argue with you, but my experience with a lowered 2nd gen was terrible. When I bought my bike it had the Barons kit installed. The bike handled terribly at low speed and in curves at speed. I took it out and returned it to stock and it fixed 70% of the handling issues. I then put a 130 tire up front and that makes it handle even more nimbly. I would recommend doing seat modifications before lowering at any time on these bikes.
  17. I am the 3rd owner of my bike, had no idea what the PO's did for maintenance. Got valves done last year at 46k miles and they were all tight. All shims had to be replaced, so I would not ignore it.
  18. I have the same on my bike right now, you will love the aggressive sound coming out of them
  19. Name is Hubert= Bert Bike is a 2006= 2006 So= Bert2006 Real original, isnt it...lol:Laugh:
