  1. Been using SWAT boots for past 4 years, best option in my mind.
  2. We ride with full gear all the time. There are many mesh clothing options now available for hot period of the year. Also use evaporative clothing when extremely hot. Essentially its an undershirt that wicks water and slowly releases it through evaporation as you ride. As for helmets, mainly use a half helmet with good ear protection when its hot as full face is too hot.
  3. Anxiously waiting to see what they come out with....:dancefool:..but it will take a lot to make me part with Big Red:whistling:, he is only getting on his stride at this point. And he is fully paid off :mo money:From the last shot in the video it looks like it will be a frame mounted fixed fairing this time.
  4. "In all my 35 years of riding I have never had to plug a tire on the side of the road....knock on wood.....Now I know how to do it!" Good videos but I would not want to use that type of rubber plug on a MC tire. I carry the stop and go kit with me and it uses rubber mushroom plugs. I have not had to use it yet (hope I just did not jinx it ) Here is a link: http://www.cycleworld.com/2011/03/07/stop-go-pocket-tire-plugger-plus-co2-inflation-product-evaluation
  5. May want to replace the fuel filter and ensure the fuel pump is working properly. Spark plugs could be changed and carbs synchronized.
  6. I used a quad load equalizer and placed it under the passenger seat on top of the rear fender. This way the heat sink contacts the fender directly and offloads the heat. At this spot it was easy to connect to rear harness but I had to run separate wires to the front lights in the channels under the gas tank. Hope this helps. I attached a pic of the quad equalizer. Its from Big Bike Parts.
  7. I know depressing to see all that snow still on the ground. Rivers and lakes are still frozen, so yesterday the temp was 6c but with the wind coming off the frozen ponds it felt like 0c.
  8. Finally got the first ride of 2017 in today! Big Red performed beautifully after being mothballed for the past 5 months.:cool10:
  9. Mike Griswold wrote on a FB page the following: Jerry Mefford and Dee Mefford are in this spot from Yamaha. Two more in the next couple of months. This was the video Yamaha was recruiting for. Thinking they will introduce something to interest Royal Star owners this summer. The Jerry Mefford wrote: Well...I guess many of you are on to us! Yes, an ad firm representing Yamaha Motors was here at our house filming. We were filming for three "teasers" to be released in each of the next three months.Of course my next thought to ask was...."teasers" for what? The guys were very professional in stating that they had no clue about anything. These were fun to do but SO nerve wracking!! LOL! I guess you'll see more of "us" over the next three months! LOL! So looks like something is in the works at Yamaha, but what - new touring bike perhaps???????:whistling: Here is a link to the FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/21338336667/
  10. Yup, gonna be a late season here this year. Last year I got my first ride in on April 2, we are at least 1 to 2 weeks away from that here this year. Calling for a slight dusting of snow tomorrow but then it goes up into the teens for a bit....hopping.....:whistling:
  11. It is, but you need to go on a sunny day when the fog is off-shore, otherwise it can be miserable. If you plan ahead and follow the forecast you will be rewarded with spectacular views.
  12. Glad I could help you out - it is a wonderful area to visit. Enjoy! :clap2:
  13. Fuse blew out first time I used it. I have since started to plug things directly to battery through dedicated circuits.
  14. Here is a video I posted on YouTube on the Fundy Trail Parkway. You access it through St.Martin's NB which is about 1 hour away from Saint-John. The video is long as it shows the full ride through the Parkway, which is not completed, so it ends and then you need to turn back. Eventually it will open up to Fundy National Park in Alma, and result in a full coastal ride from Saint-John to Moncton along the Bay of Fundy, but that is years away. If you find it too long, at least get to the mid-point which will show you the full trail one way. Enjoy.
  15. From your itinerary in the blog I am assuming you are taking the ferry crossing from Digby to Saint-John.NB. If that is your starting point and you are going to cross into Maine at St-Stephen, then you will not have many options to get off the superslab on the way. Between Saint-John and St. Andrews you will find Ossie's Lunch stand in Bethel (3034 NB-760, Bethel, NB E5C 0G2). They are famous for their fried clams and sea food, but they are expensive. You definitely want to go and visit St.Andrews. The Algonquin Resort ( http://algonquinresort.com/ ) is worth a look and a visit. There are lots of places with great food on the main drag and prices a more affordable. You could also take a short detour and visit Grand-Manan Island ( http://www.grandmanannb.com/directions.html) or Deer Island ( http://www.deerisland.nb.ca) Both are accessible via ferry rides. If you are riding from NS to NB then once you get to Moncton you want to cross over to Riverview and then take route 114 up to Fundy National Park. This route hugs the Peticodiac River (Mascaret) and then you can visit Hopewell Rocks ( http://www.thehopewellrocks.ca/), then continue to Fundy National Park (http://www.tourismnewbrunswick.ca/Products/Parks/Fundy-National-Park.aspx). From there you would need to follow route 114 up to Penobsquis and take Route 1 (4 laner) up to Sussex to then peel off on route 111 to St. Martin's. Sussex to St.Martins is going through some pretty areas but it is isolated, so ensure tank is full. From St. Martin's you can take a side trip to the Fundy Trail. I placed a link at the end of this post to a video I posted on youtube so you can see if it worth your while. Here is their link also. ( http://www.fundytrailparkway.com/) . From St. Martins you would then take route 111 to Rothesay and you can then proceed to Saint-John via route 1. If you are taking the ferry from Digby to Saint John, I highly recommend the detour to the Fundy Trail. Its about an hour from Saint John and the trail itself take about 1 hour to ride both way's. Thats all I have for now. Hope this helps. ( )
  16. Just saved a link to the blog as I want to read through last years trip when I have more time... looking forward to reading up on your adventures in 2017. You will be in my neck of the woods when you go through NB. Make sure you don't just ride through on the 4 laner, take secondary roads and see some of the beauty we offer such as Hopewell Rock, Fundy Park, Fundy Trail and Parkway.....Whish I could get away and do one of those extended trips sometime. Enjoy!
  17. That's some serious saddlebag action going on there
  18. Here is a thread I posted when I did mine. These are for trucklites that had been originally made for HD's. Hope this helps as process should be similar. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?117246-Conversion-to-LED-Passing-Lamps
  19. For all its worth, I have been running Commander II's for the past 4 years and will stick with them as long as they make them. They are not available in the 150 size for the front, so I run the 130. Improves low speed handling greatly with no ill effects at higher speeds. I get 2 seasons out of a set for about 20K KM's (12K miles). They are quiet, immune to snaking and work well in all conditions, except snow. It would be great if they would come out with a wide white wall as I would prefer that. Maybee someday!
  20. That would be correct for the US. In Canada, not required yet unless you are using commercially. Regulations are getting updated this spring though and it looks like Canada will be following the US route for registering based on weight of the bird, whether its used recreationally or commercially. This will also include getting licenced as an operator through some flight training (theory only). Will see what comes up and then decide if I want to invest more based on the regulatory requirements. All this because a number of idiots insist on pushing the envelope and are not being responsible with how and were they fly these.
  21. Thought I would provide you with an update on my drone adventure. The Hubsan 501s that I ordered from BangGood NEVER showed up. :bang head: After waiting for 2 months, I lodged a claim with PayPal and got a full refund last week. Probably a good thing as they have been having major issues with quality on these in the past few months and folk who got them are not happy. Also, will never order anything again from a Chinese based vendor such as BangGood. Dirt cheap prices, but low quality and no customer service. They did not even respond to the claim with PayPal, so no wonder PP ruled in my favor and refunded me the money. Now here is the good news, over the holiday's Best Buy had the Yuneec Typhoon H Pro package for sale at half price. I ordered one and it landed on my front steps 3 day's later. Have been flying it ever since. Now this is a high end unit and I am taking it slow as it will be expensive when it crashes. Its 4K video capable and takes high quality stills also. Full gimbled camera mount. Highly recommend it. Here are a few photos that I have taken so far...be kind as I am learning. I am at the stage that I am looking for something to fall on when I retire and this may very well fill the gap. Maybe a business proposition will come out of this, hence the watermark on the photos.

    FYI

I get those at least once per month, but in my case they say that something is off with unusual activity in my account and offer a link to follow. I simply delete them.
  23. If i remember well it comes out easier on one side. Left hand I think.
  24. Not to argue but I do not agree with the 2nd gen being a brick on 2 wheels Not perfect, but with a few suspension and tire changes, nothing that cannot be fixed easily. The big problem is the 150 tire up front. Once you go to the 130, it gets agile real fast.
  25. Go to the 2nd gen tech pages and I posted a thread on installing a Kuryakin 3 way switch. That may help you as I also installed a relay in that one. Would have provided link but my tablet is not cooperating right now.
