WW2 Navajo Indian Code Talker display in Kayenta Arizona!!

Red, I am not sure how we missed "The Wolf Creek" ride thru all our travels,, just wayyyyyy to many GREAT rides out there I reckon. Arizona is DEFINITELY a treasure waiting to explore for sure and this place along the "160" trail indeed is icing on the cake IMHO = like you, now I know why I love the place too ! Thanks for enjoying! Awe,,THANK YOU, and love you too my eternal brother Sly!! Thanks again for taking the time to join Tip, Trooper and I on yet another hair brained, CTFW(s) exploration of the homeland sorts.. Speaking of eternal blessings here Sly,,, following are a few pics from the Code Talker display at BK. I found these letters written to the U.S. Govt from "The Tribe" to just be short of the soothing balm folks like you and I who LOVE God's Word and it's ability to sooth ones soul.. I just could not get away from these letters and read them over and over - SOOO SPIRTUALLY/PATRIOTICALLY BEAUTIFUL:usa:!! On another page to follow I will put another pic I took in the parking lot of the BK. That pic actually brought TEARS to my eyes when I saw the sign shown in the picture!! The son of the Code Talker who owns the BK DEFINITELY "gets it" concerning what America is suppose to be all about,, cannot wait to show it to you to see if it has the same affect on you as it had on me!! Here are the pics of the letters that held my pea brain spell bound with love for God and Country - I will do the parking lot sign pic on a different page to keep my easily confused geezer brain from goin bonkers:backinmyday:! -
One our great nations many top notch touring roads that I/we never did get to travel on our motorcycle adventures was the "Wolf Creek Pass" adventure that C.W McCall sang about in one of his famous "truck drivin" songs of yesteryear (sang below for anyone not familiar with those great songs of a time long gone by). With time drawing short in our touring adventure days (geezerdom), we decided it was time to travel that memorable ride on 160 from Walsenburg CO to Yuba City AZ and see if we could find a "feed store in downtown Pagosa Springs" with those infamous truck crash markings on it!! We were not able to locate the feed store ol C.W. sang about but we did find many many other AWESOME things along this "ride".. After spending a couple nights sky gazing in the Rockies and checking out some really cool National Parks and National Monuments, we discovered this incredible Navajo Code Talker display at a Burger King in Kayenta AZ.. Fact is, this BK is owned and operated by the Son of a Code Talker!! What a WONDERFUL way to honor the courage, honor and patriotism of this persons Father!! You ever get out that way, this place is an unforgettable viewing experience!!! A special THANK YOU to all who serve, will serve and did serve!!

Sup Earl!!! Been working on that Ambassadorship for some time now (see attached vid from years back) and GREATLY appreciate your vote of confidence my brother!! If/when the day comes for me to formalize my Ambassadorship thru dialog with those lop eared (if they have ears) green (if they are green) 1st Gen Flyin Saucer varmints I will definitely put in a good word for you with any that I dont have to run off for winking at my lady!!! P.S. = love you too!!! P.S. - P.S. = while unnecessary for you to remind me of the playground betwix your own lop ears, I am grateful to you for remind others who may be reading this of that fact P.S - P.S. - P.S. = might wanna keep a weathered eye open on this thread. In route to Rachel NV (the designated meeting place for those 4 million earthlings who were planning on storming the main gate of Nellis) we heard rumors that a group of those varmints had actually netted a Saucer and it was still flying around in circles trying to escape the net when we got the news on the street... While this particular interview does not seem to reveal much as the interviewee was not the most talkative individual,, shortly after this interview that took place on the ExtraTerrestrial HWY we did hear some DEFINITE fighter jet rumblings in the sky behind the mountains of Area 51 (possibly in pursuit of an elusive UFO?) - a real encouragement for two best friends in search of Aliens - a real hot trail so to speak!!! -
No self respecting cross country touring trip is complete unless it somehow involves our ongoing search for Aliens. We had heard rumors about 4 million people who had planned on rushing the main gate at Nellis Air Base with plans of uncovering the Alien secrets our U.S. Government has been hiding from as far back as the Roswell Alien crash back in the 50's (Tip, Tweeks and I toured Roswell years ago and, even after spending countless nights camped on the desert were unable to locate an actual alien so we decided to up the game and join the raid at Nellis). After previously checking in with the lady who run's the Alien Museum at the west end of the ExtraTerrestrial HWY earlier in the year and finding out the actual dates of the planned invasion, we decided it best to come back out to this vast region to see what was happening 1st hand.

We got a lot in common brother,, some of my greatest times are a result of chasing down parts, pieces, groceries, picking up kids, going out digging worms for fishing or just plain getting out of the house and ending up putting on the 2 wheel miles.. Unplanned fun and head clearing can result in the greatest of adVentures IMHO.. Sooo my friend,, whats a "Vento"? Car? Moped? Shooter? Got pics:big-grin-emoticon:?

Might help,,

:sign yeah that::sign yeah that:Took the words right out of my mouth my brother!!!! Gotta say though,,, that cleaned up, dolled up, put together correctly LT of yours in the pic is nothing short a GORGEOUS IMHO,,, DEFINITELY a well disquised "cheap" bike (you bandit ) = VERY VERY WELL DONE RIV:sign Rock On: Thanks for the straight forward (as always) info Riv,, it is ALWAYS a pleasure hearing from ya!!! As far as the hero thingy,,, awe,,, thanks brother,, it's great to be loved,, it goes both ways ya know!! P.S. = suggest not tieing the anchor emergency rope to the top box = it will flip you over backwards if the glass holds out,,, use one of them "Tug Em Straps" (kind of like horizontal bungee jumping) attached to the passenger boards = always Tweekin,, Tweek Tweek Tweek

BEAUTIFUL CJ,, A MAJOR on the new scoot and a double for the 2 of you!!!! ,,, those wheels remind me of an Evo Sturgis HD I bought/rode/sold a number of years ago,, amazing how one little fine line of red can set off to a perfection an already work of art ain't it... Got it done and HOT DIGGITY DOG,,, that Grandson of mine is gonna LOVE this thing!!

Earlier in the year I discovered that the previous owner of the Yerf had put the metering rod spring in the carb in on the wrong side of the retainer and was able to get this thing fired up for the summer by straightening that out. My son purchased a new carb (15 bucks) for it at that time so I went ahead and installed that during our stay at this time. Turned out the little 150cc Chinese "GY6" scooter motor in this puppy only produced 30 pounds of compression on the tester - ahh ohh.. Pre dragging the engine out and replacing it with a 20 horse V-Twin from Harbor Freight, I went ahead and pulled the valve rocker cover on the critter to see what kind of valve lash adjustment it had or didn't have and was pleasantly shocked to see that the Chinese had chosen to follow Honda in adjustment engineering!! Reset the valves and the beast fired right up!!!!! My son said it NEVER ran this good LOL

Earlier in the summer, on another cross country excursion, I took advantage of the GORGEOUS California sunshine and got an old "Yerf Dog" go cart running for my Grandson in California.. He had made comment during that time, after riding it for a couple days, that his Birthday present of choice for the one he had coming up in September would be some awesome lighting for his ride!! His dad and I went together and purchased lighting and I took a couple days installing them. FUN PROJECT and even FUNNER times Grandfathering my offspring!! It was not until I got "out west" that we discovered "the machine" needed more than just lights though. What good is a go-cart with fancy lights if it doesn't run - right? So after building the harnesses and installing the lights, I set about figuring out why no putt putt (a HUGE thank you to my son for working till 4 a.m. getting that puppy going). Was this ol lop eared geezer varmint able to get er done? Check out the Parts 2 and 3 of this series to find out!! HI JOSHUA!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOUNG MAN!!

Just got in from a month of CTFW(S) ourselves here RR and getting caught up on some reading,, thought I would check in here and see how you made out on your end - sounds like you folks had a BALL = !! IMHO, you would be headed in the wrong direction thinking V-Max top end parts and pieces as it sounds like what you are looking for is more torque, not horsepower = the V-Max components (cam/heads/valve timing grind/higher compression ratio ect are all designed to work with the "V-Boost" that doesnt even open till 6 grand or so = horse power).. Also IMHO, Sly was on the right track but unfortunately not applicable with the trike rear end:crying: as mentioned.. It would be possible to design and have ground a new cam with torque in mind and all that but I am guessing REAL pricey... Thinking out loud here (gets me in trouble so take this with a grain of back yard mechanican salt), seems I remember the RSV having an over drive tranny in it,, help me out folks in the know?? Also seems like my good friend and brother VenturousRandy did a TON of figuring out the perfect tranny for the 1st Gen MK1's that included using the RSV gear sets in combo with the V-Max rear end to produce a really user friendly 1st gear for us rock crawlers while maintaining the top gears at almost a matching gear ratio to original for good touring charachtor.. Now thinking this thru backwards in your case cause you cant use the V-Max rear end but wanting to gear the top side down (adding torque),,, ,,,, I wonder if replacing your over drive tranny with a stock one (minus the 2nd gear issues of course) out of MK1 may not prove worthy for your application. I have ridden quite a few miles cross country on the MK1's loaded to the gills in two up style and have always been impressed with the dynamic delivery of the V-4 - and not just talking hp either.. 5th gear crawling at speeds below 50 mph they are awesome,, 2500 rpm endless crawls type of stuff.. I would even consider looking at a V-max tranny ratio's if I were you.. I have owned a couple V-Max's and they are good diggers too BUT they do have a different final drive ratio and smaller rear wheel = no idea if their tranny gear sets are different than the MK1's.. Of course,, the simplest cure would be low profile tires just to get you headed in the right direction but that can produce issues of its own (ground clearance?).. Sounds like you have crossed into the zone of majorly changed HP to Weight ratio's where that old saying of "there is no replacement for displacement" dominates. A basic law of physics to consider therein is to always remember that at 5250 RPM's is where HP crosses the dyno line above torque. Torque always thrives and peaks below that line and that is the area where that iconic old statement is proven.. Off the cuff, I doubt that the spacing between the jugs would allow for over boring to a point that you could actually tell a difference in displacement torque. Most of the metric engines I have rebuilt thru the years have a 3 or 4 times over size with pistons available for the rebuild.. The 86 Honda TRX 250R's did have a 6 sizes over bore available but even that was not much of a displacement improvement.. Certainly not like popping a set of 1200cc jugs on an 883 HD or dropping an 806 kit on an old 750 SOHC Honda's = those you FEEL the torque (and HP if you dare to spin up the pistons to fast and accept the risk of KABOOM if/when the pistons/rods come unglued. Also,, I have never been inside a Yam V-4 (I just rode em till they dropped and bought another - a GREAT break from spinning wrenches) and have no idea if the jugs are not Iron bore = boreable any way,,, guess I shoulda thought of that before I started ... Oh well,, it was fun anyway,, gotta love yakkin this stuff... Hey brother,, GOOD to hear you folks made it back ok and had a GREAT trip!! Puc

ON MY DEMO BUCKET LIST BROTHER!!! Maggie the R1's muscle in a full blown touring scoot = who could ask for anything more!!! :dancefool::dancefool: ,, wait a second,, I could ask for more,, how about a new Venture with a 200 horse 1700cc V-Max MTR stuffed in it,,,, good grief,, why does my nasty brain gotta come up with such ideas
-
Never one to say I told ya so Spence but,,,,, I tried to warn ya about my good friend and brother Riv!!! ,, I think we really are related RIV!! VERY VERY WELL PUT!! Quick question @VanRiver ,,, can the ABS just be bypassed and run the confounded thing with a "normal" brake system? There are those that would short shift a $300 MK1 Venture out to 300k miles cause 2nd gear is long since gone,, probably the same type of lop eared varmint who would pick up a GORGEOUS $500 Beemer with a bad ABS and do the same if he/she knew he could get away with it.. Get my drift?
