  1. Hey Ray, We met at Don't Maint. Day many years ago. Your RSTD was then, and has always been a real Work Horse/Beauty. God has a plan for you, my friend. And it looks like that FJR1300 is part of that plan. I personally sometimes hesitate to embrace something new, because as I have gotten older, "If it fits my hand and my head, It fits my heart"! My wife has to remind me that I am worthy of something newer, and better, being humble SUCKS sometimes! So taking a page from my wife's book, (God I hope my wife doesn't see this post, she'll have me washin' dishes if she does!!) Embrace this new motorcycle Ray, make it your own! Show it the love and care you showed your RSTD, and maybe someday you will have a whole new bunch of stories to tell us about this wonderful machine that got you home every time, just like your RSTD! Lastly, I just wanted to say "Thank you Ray, for your service to this country"! If there ever was a person on this planet that deserves a newer, better motorcycle, It's YOU my friend! Enjoy your new ride Ray, and perhaps we will share some road together some day. Earl

  3. My mom is in very rough shape. She is being cared for by one of my sisters down in Ohio (PRAISE GOD FOR LITTLE SISTERS!) instead of suffering through the nightmare of a nursing home. While Tip and I were out getting some fresh air time on our E-bikes recently I was riding along singing praises to God for all He does for us and He spoke to my heart to use evil Youtube for some good for a change and record some songs for my Mom to watch. I followed God's directive and got a real positive note from my little sister that my Mom really enjoyed watching it and to please continue so I am doing my best to oblige her. This morning God spoke to my heart again about putting this one on VR, maybe because some of you are going thru some rough times too. If so and if even one of you get some air under your wings because God REALLY does still send his love on the "Wings of a Dove" than I reckon I did something right for a change. Puc P.S., if you are one of our lop eared praying VR member varmints if you get a second please pray for Puc's mom. THANKS

  4. What a roller coaster this has been. As you know, a while back Eileen wrecked my 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road. The day of the wreck, it got towed to a local body shop. The next day, the insurance company called to tell me that they were sure that it wasn't totaled. They wanted to know where I wanted the work done and arranged to have it towed there. A couple hours later, they called again and told me that they had decided that it was totaled so they had cancelled the plans to tow it to my body shop and were instead towing it to, I think it was called IAA Auctions where it would be sold. So I then spent the next three days frantically searching for a new truck. Nobody within 300 miles had one one the lot. All the "incoming inventory" said "Sold" or "Sale Pending". I finally found a dealer who had what I wanted but it wasn't even showing "In bound" yet but had a build date that day. They said if I wanted it, they need a $1,000.00 non-refundable deposit on it. So, I placed the deposit and the wait began. Then on Monday, the insurance company called and said that their adjuster at the auction site had determined that there was only about $11,000.00 damage and that was not near enough to total it so they were towing it back to my body shop. So then I had a decision to make. The truck was pretty badly wrecked. Did I want to keep it or what. I decided to go ahead and buy the new one and would just sell my current truck after it was finally repaired. So I never cancelled my order. I got a call two days ago that my truck had shipped and was on it's way to my dealer. I haven't been give a date but I expect it will still be another 3 or so weeks,. It's somewhere on a train now and will eventually be put on a truck for the rest of the journey. So that's that. Right? Wrong., I got a call from my insurance company yesterday letting me know that when they got the truck to the body shop and up on a rack, they determined that the damage was much worse than they thought. So they have now officially totaled the truck and are towing it back to the auction site,. They offered me a settlement, which was honestly more than I expected. I have accepted it so am now back on track and don't have to worry about selling what I know was a pretty badly wrecked vehicle. I was considering just trying to wholesale it to somebody with full disclosure that it had been wrecked. OK...so now I am just waiting on the truck again. Ordered a new BackFlip MX4 tonneau cover this morning and a couple of other small things that I had put on the old truck. It will all be here before the truck arrives. I am certainly ready for this to be over with. I did get a pleasant surprise from the insurance company though. They said that because this is a replacement for a wrecked truck, that I can send them the bill of sale on the new truck and could reimburse me about $2500.00 in state sales tax.

  5. Not today but yesterday Tip and I climbed on Tweeksis and away the 3 of us went!! We went all the way up to Baldwin Michigan (about a 1 1/2 hour ride, took us 3 hours to get there though cause we played on the back roads) and had an ice cream cone at Joneses HOMEMADE ice cream. Waffle cones no less! Tip had "Mango Dole" and I had "Banana Pudding" and Tweeksis ate her fill at a BP Gas Station/a full tank of 87 octane at $4.99 a gallon. Tweeksis's treat cost way more than ours, hows that for "what I did for my Venture today? LOL" I figured this still fits this thread because, in me and Tweeks line of thinking, the kindest, most compationate, best way to show your bike you are doing something special for her is to ride her, Tip even agrees so the Puc home is a happy home. THE END, for now

  8. Hey Tom, I was wondering what your average speed was on your trip. For me, if I ran much above 65mph, the gas mileage started to fall off pretty quick. The other reason for lower mileage would be running through mountain twisties in a reduced gear. Also riding 2up with a bunch of "To Go Boxes" full of all that wonderful food you were eating will lower the mileage some! LOL!! Sounds like a great Tom! Earl

  10. Years ago, back in 51 or 52, we had just immigrated from Holland. We lived in a small house with 8 of us, house that maybe today 2 people would find too small and Mom was very lonely for her family. It was Christmas eve. Somewhere during the night she woke up to a sound in the bedroom next to hers, she woke up my dad as well to listen to their youngest singing Ere zij God (Glory to God). She says he sang it all the way through and it totally blessed her and dad. She says it was the best Christmas she ever had. No presents but lots of Presence. I don't remember any of it, other than what she told me. Yes! Sons can bless their mothers in many ways, I'm glad you could bless her in such a manner.
