The first 3 pics are random shots in Oklahoma, the rest are pictures of our ride from Roswell NM to Ruidoso NM. Roswell is 3500 ft. elevation, and Ruidoso is 6900 ft. It was very warm in Roswell, but that changed quickly in Ruidoso. We stopped for lunch and put liners in our jackets. But the time we stopped for fuel 20 minutes later, we decided chaps and heavier gloves were needed. The locals say this has been a very cool spring for them. These are pictures leaving Roswell NM and heading toward Tombstone AZ. They all were taken in NM. We stopped for the night at a rest stop in Arizona. 4-28-231 point

I usually notice when my wife and I are riding on my '88 we get around 32 to 34 MPG. I am usually driving at the speed of around 65-75 MPH and I haven't ever gotten really good fuel economy, not at least as much as others have gotten. I'm no lightweight and both my wife and I have put some weight on over the years. We are both north of 200 lbs, me more than her. I really got some bad mileage for awhile a couple of years ago. I replaced the diaphragms on my carbs, which restored a ton of low end power but would cut out around 5K RPMs and fuel economy dropped to around 25-28 MPG. Finally figured out the rubber plugs at the bottom of the jet block on my carbs had dried up and was feeding way too much fuel into the main jet. Just my experience but could definitely be something else. It would be good to eliminate all other possible issues before dissecting carbs.1 point

There were footboards available for the Ventures but you will have to find them on the used market as they long sense been discontinued by Yamaha and the after market crowd. They occasionally show up on Ebay or some of the sights that sell used bike parts. The issued would be to make sure you have all the parts needed to install them properly on the bike. Your warning alarm could be that the battery is missing the cell sensor from the battery. The computer uses the small current the sensor detects to determine battery condition and if battery is lights up the battery indicator on the dash panel and lights the red alarm light. Getting a different wiring harness might be the better way to go about repairing the old harness as if it is so chopped up that the PO had a toggle switched to turn on the headlight that would worry be a lot about what else he chopped up. Good luck with this project. Rick F.1 point

Just about ready to set off on Saturday. We are going to Colmar in the Alsace region of France (that's our 'base') and taking in the Black Forest in Germany and Lucerne in Switzerland. A bit of rain in forecast, so, the only decision left is, do I take 'full waterproofs'? I don't remember ever getting uncomfortably wet on the RSV.1 point

My wife and I have been "planning" a trip to the southwest since last year and are finally getting ready to leave. We had hoped to leave in late March, but the death of a family member delayed us. It looks like we will be able to head out tomorrow if I can get one more project finished on the RV. I am so looking forward to doing some serious sightseeing from the Trike in New Mexico and Arizona. I will try to provide some pictures when I can. Steve1 point
