Seems I need to be able to carry a little one. Any help with a chair that looks good on a 2nd gen, good quality at decent price? Anybody got a used one that needs work?

Thanks

You can check out my sidecar on my 2nd Gen 08 RSV. Its not cheap but it is cumfy and its easy in and easy out. Its the Champion Escort sidecar.

I had looked on thier site, and did not think it would look good on a 2nd gen. But THANKS for the pics, as it does look good on that bike. Your use of the stock eyebrows is pretty cool too! Don't worry though, I won't copy it. I have removed the eybrows from mine.

Phil - I would have no use for the XS. The Velorex 700 is "pretty basic" as you said, or as I would say "ugly". But you seem to have it priced right, and may be what I need to "try out" riding with a chair. Maybe some pics?

If I did, It would take me a day there and a day back. Am not certain I want to try to mount it and drive it back, or pick it up in the truck . Picking it up with the truck would cost me more.

Thanks, added to my consideration list.

Yes it Is "Basic" but it has a flip up window and a lockable storage area behind the seat. I run a car battery behind the seat to act as ballist and to power all the lights on the bike , fairings. bags and the chair.

As far as setting up the chair on the bike that would take some time. There are four mounting arms and each is dependent on proper placements of the others

They mount as follows:

1.)Bottom rear - this determines the distance between the bike and the chair.

2.)Top rear- this determines the level of the chair. Not too nose high or low.

3.)Bottom front. this determines the toe on angle or the angle that the chair toes in toward the the bike. This angle insures that the chair wheel pushes slightly toward the bike but as close to neutral as you can.

It should be set at about a 5 degree angle toward the bike other wise the chair will be constantly pulling away from the bike. This must be also set based on the weight to be carried in the chair. A compromise at best

4.) Top Front- this arm sets the lean out angle of the bike. The bike must be set at a lean out angle that matches the MAJORITY of road crowns that you right. I.e. country back road, highway or expressway.

Some modern chairs have a lean out adjuster for different road surface crowning. This will also have to be adjusted for weight as well. Any questions just ask.

Might be better to just buy the whole thing ride it home and sell the XS1100.Just a thought.:thumbsup2:

We have a 2003 RSV with a champion escort sidecar. The car hatch opens very wide near the seat. There's a vent in the floor (can be closed). Ours seat rises on an electric motor, so the rider can step in/out more easily. Also have it wired for the RSV speakers. Have a tonneau cover, and a convertible top.

Here's some pics.

Good luck. Jake

Nice paint match! What is the item attached to the front hatch just in front of the wind shield? You have no need for a steering dampner? No front end wobble? I had my tree modified so as to give me the feeling of power steering. No more aching shoulders. I want to add a car battery to the trunk of the sidecar so as to provide more power to my accessories on the bike and the sidecar. I also have red accent lighting in my engine and under the sidecar for more night time visability, gives a nice red glow under the sidecar. It draws attention at night and looks really cool.

Now I want to customize the interior of the sidecar and give it a nice functional dashboard. The sidecar also has the electric lean thing that raises the sidecar to compensate for the crown or lean in the road makes for a more comfortable ride for the driver or pilot.

I have had the car mounted to the RSV for about 3 years now and this is the second bike it has been mounted to. The first was a VStar 1100 Silverado.

Keep in touch always interested in sidecar talk.

We I was at a M&E in Fla in October there was someone with a sidecar that looked very nice with the 2nd Gen. I believe it was this one from Hannigan. Maybe the owner will jump in here and comment. Very easy to get in and out of, lots of adjustment on it and a hard top for the passenger (stored right behind the seat vertically) in case it should start to rain.
