coy55boy Posted January 21, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 21, 2011 Hi Folks, I'm considering buying a trailer to pull behind my scoot. I found one that is kinda cool. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n163/coy55boy/83%20Venture%20trailer%20hitch/beertrailer.jpg But, it's got (what I consider to be) an odd sorta hitch. Does anybody know what this is called and more importantly where do I find the mating half? http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n163/coy55boy/83%20Venture%20trailer%20hitch/hitch.jpg
Sylvester Posted January 21, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2011 I will let more knowledgeable member reply, but I think it is for the Bushtec trailers.
Scooter Bob Posted January 22, 2011 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2011 Nice looking trailer. The visible components show the ability to turn, tilt, and swivel are there. I looks to me like it is intended to bolt tight to your hitch plate. Perhaps it was done for anti-theft. Just my , Scooter Bob
Freebird Posted January 22, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2011 Looks like some kind of custom home made hitch. I know it's not a Bushtec.
Shamue Posted January 22, 2011 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2011 it is a swivel hitch. if you notice it will track side to side and up and down. have saw a few of these type swivels 30 yrs ago. very functional and easy to make. Nice looking trailer. The visible components show the ability to turn, tilt, and swivel are there. I looks to me like it is intended to bolt tight to your hitch plate. V7Goose Posted January 22, 2011 Share #6 Posted January 22, 2011 Looks like it is nicely chromed. Just buy a standard receiver hitch and bolt that hitch to the stinger in place of the ball. To remove the trailer, just pull the clevis pin on the stinger and slide it out of the receiver. Goose

Brake Pad Posted January 22, 2011 Share #11 Posted January 22, 2011 If those are 8 inch tires, how big is the trailer? Pint Size?

ctraylor Posted January 22, 2011 Share #14 Posted January 22, 2011 Looks like one of those hitches you see on a single wheel trailer like a uni-go to me.
Dano Posted January 22, 2011 Share #15 Posted January 22, 2011 Wouldn't that shake up the brew just a bit?

Freebird Posted January 22, 2011 Share #17 Posted January 22, 2011 I still maintain that it's home made. They did a good job on it but it's NOT a Bushtec hitch. They did use a similar Heim type connector for the swivel mechanism as does Bushtec but that is where the resemblance ends.
coy55boy Posted January 22, 2011 Author Share #18 Posted January 22, 2011 Oh it is definitely home made. I haven't yet seen it in person. I'll be doing that later today. But, the guy selling it was quick to point out that it was hand made by a friend of his that fabricates ultra-lite planes. He says it's very well built. It has leaf springs and shock absorbers (to keep the sudz down ). Here's a pic of the insides. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n163/coy55boy/83%20Venture%20trailer%20hitch/beertraileropen.jpg
