Guest mtruitt_1971 Posted December 7, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2008 recently got a 1983 venture and was looking at several pics on-line and noticed that i haven't seen one that has a front fender like mine. i was just wondering if it was a special edition trim or just some retard trying to dress up the bike, anyway the front fender has a rack on it kinda like a luggage rack and it also has a running light on the top of the fender. kinda like the old indians had (no indian head just a running light) any thoughts???????? later

Squidley Posted December 7, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 7, 2008 The light on top was an extra piece that could be bought from markland who made much of the aftermarket chrome for the Ventures back in the day. Sounds too like you might have a fender rail too....post some pics and we'll tell you for sure.

skydoc_17 Posted December 7, 2008 Share #6 Posted December 7, 2008 I think somebody has done the VR to R1/R6 swap to an MK1 and hasn't shared all the juicey details with us....Say it ain't soooo! By the way, looks like a very clean job, did you delink the front and rear brakes? is there an R1/R6 caliper on the rear? Oh please, Oh please tell us! Oh and another thing, VERY nice front fender, it's a shame we can't get all the cool stuff for the first gens. any more! Earl
Squidley Posted December 7, 2008 Share #7 Posted December 7, 2008 Mike's bike has been upgraded to the MK II forks, the evidence is the electric anti dive on them. So, no, this still means that the MK I's cannot be swapped traditionally to R1/R6 calipers
