He is really doing the right thing. Baby steps on riding and safety. He is lucky to have you as a mentor for life. This sounds to me that Don is back on the saddle. Enjoy the experience of a lifetime with your son.

OK, so I am in the mist of my rebuild I have hit 2 road blocks, I am really hoping someone can point in the correct direction. 2000 venture btw. 1) I have moved things around enough that I have lost track of which ignition coil is for the left and right side on the front of the motor. My coil sit on the back bone, one above and slightly aft, the other below slightly forward. I am thinking the one on top is for the left cylinder. Please let me know if you know. 2) I am having trouble identifying the oil for the transmission, some of this may because I am used to using different terminology than the service manual. I am seeing 2 different things. One is that the final drive use an SAE 80 gear but if I am looking at this right, that is the hub/differential for the rear wheel. I am also seeing the area in question being called the middle drive. I read that this uses the same oil as the motor. Does that mean oil from the motor is being pumped to the transmission? With a separate fill cap behind the chrome cover with the oil fill cap, I am guessing I need to place oil in the transmission, but what kind? Oil is currently in the motor and the second cover on the left is off and no oil is coming out. Thanks in advance

Well, not for me but it’s now in my garage. Ny son Dylan turned 30 two days ago and decided he wants to start riding. Can’t say that I was really in favor but he’s an adult and makes his own decisions. So he found a 2024 Ninja 500 with 1684 miles on it in Pittsburgh, PA. This morning we hooked up the trailer and went after it. The bike is like brand new with a couple of tasteful upgrades. At least he’s doing the right things. Next week or the week after he is signed up for the beginners rider course and won’t be riding it except maybe a couple of short rides here on the country roads around my house.

Good evening to all! Today, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, is the hottest day of the week (at least in our area here in SE Pa.). With that said, the weather folks stated there is light at the end of the tunnel. By the end of the week, this coming Friday's high will strangely be in the lower 70's for a high. Thank God for the cold front that will blanket the area by Friday. You know what that means... time to cut the grass once again and wash the family minivan and not suffer from any potential heat stroke. . This Friday is the big day. lol Stay cool. Stay Hydrated and be weather informed. Ride safe to wherever your destination may be.

I purchased a 2018 Venture in December. It is time for a new rear tire. I down loaded the service manual that someone was nice enough to put on this site. The rear wheel removal doesn't look to bad but I hate surprises. It looks like you remove saddle bags and mufflers. It says to remove rear wheel sensor and lead then the rear brake caliper. Then loosen the drive belt adjusting locknut and nut. Then remove axle nut and then axle. Then remove rear wheel. Are there any other parts that are going to fall off or out when you remove the wheel? Any thoughts or advise would be helpful. Do you need to remove the rear wheel belt pulley before you take it into the shop to have the new tire put on?

We ended up getting a couple of LS2 Advant-x helmets in matte black. I'll be riding up to the cabin with friends this weekend so I'll break it in. Seems very soft, comfortable but a bit tight on the cheeks, sales guy says that'll get better after a bit of use. Dangerous stuff going into Iron Pony Motorsports.....They had a burgandy Can Am Spyder Limited ......Damn, it was nice. Not quite ready yet, but if I was, I'd have pulled the trigger on that right on the spot.

Sorry, I thought I posted where and when! Figured same as we usually go but forgot about people who haven't been before! (This is why I let others do planning) Coffee at Tim Hortons at 1084 Rest Acres Rd Paris Ontario. If comming 403 highway from West take 24 North turn-off, then I think 2 or 3 roundabouts and Tim's is on left side in plaza. East bound 403 take 24 North turn off go 2 roundabouts and is on left side in plaza. Ice-cream will be at Paris Twisted Treats 98 Scott Ave. It is in North end of Paris. Can find these spots on Google Maps also!

Good evening to all! Started yesterday and finished today. Replaced plugs on the RSV and SVTC. Installed D2 Denali and SoundBomb horn on the SVTC. Despite the heat in the garage, it was fun working on the install. Didn't get the chance to install the Denali SoundBomb on the RSV since I don't have the right bracket for it. Will order the correct bracket online by tonight. So happy how they both turned out. IMG_1223.MP4

The 88 Venture Royale is starting to feel pretty wore down with 106k miles. Engine wise she feels strong, but its needing more and more TLC in the suspension and electronics department. I know it'll go another 100k miles, and i'll never sell this venture, but we will certainly be upgrading to a 2021+ goldwing soon

I am not 100% sure which variant it came out of. I am guessing it is just out of a royal star. If spending some time in the garage, I found that the heads just wont work from the new motor. The intake boots are both smaller and the wrong angles. The bolt pattern is different and I can not swap the boots. I decide to just swap the heads, so I will use the original cams and hopefully there will not be much of a power change. I pulled the entire AIS off and pluged the ports on the head. Not sure what those ports are made off but they are hard. So I have the heads on and I have noticed that there is not enough slack in the timing chains to slip the chain over both cam sprockets. I am guessing I need to take one of the sprockets off a cam shaft. If there is any advice to be shared, I be happy to hear it.
