  1. Today
  2. I had the Dunlops on mine. Local shop said they're unavailable, so I'm going with a set of Metzlers. They're more expensive, but I figure there's other places I can save money. Tires are pretty important.
  3. Good morning to all! Happy Father's Day to all of you!
  4. A few.. you didn't scare all of them away.
  5. Partzilla... It shows the Rt Side Cowling in stock but the engine guard is 56 - 63 days out.
  6. Could be your clutch handle being loose and vibrating.
  7. Yesterday
  8. Looking to go back to a Wing. Lower centre of gravity and quieter.
  9. Does anyone know if the ignition contacts on a 98 RSTD can be cleaned without having to break into the ignition case? Thanks in advance.

  11. Wow. Didn’t know Pinwalll sold out. They were always my go to. There used to be one in Sandusky or Huron, I’ll have to see if I can find the name. They sold on Evay also. I bought a week from them.

  14. Congratulations!
  15. I second the option to go to Linux Mint. I have dabbled in some Linux versions before and got frustrated with how much tinkering it takes to get it to do what I want. So far Linux Mint seems to work pretty good out of the box and still running strong on an old computer I got from a neighbor that was released in 2012.
  16. Carl.....play nice!!
  17. Very nice write-up! I sent my leaking shock to Dave in 2021 when I bought my 2012 RSV and its been great ever since. Been in the back of my mind that at some point I may have to replace the o-ring in the future since I plan to keep my bike long-term, so appreciate the detailed write up being available here.
  18. Cruise control quit working last week. 2007 RSV I have owned since new and am very familiar with how everything operates. It passes all self diagnostic tests listed in the service manual section 8 pages 73-75 in rest 3 it is testing the actuator, vacuum, and throttle cable. so the only thing I can think of is the gear position switch. the cruise will only operate between 50 MPH and 80 MPH in 4th or 5th gear. I can not find where the the cruise control module gets a signal to know if it is in 4th or 5th gear. i have been all over the wiring diagrams and just don't see it. Have any of you ran in to this?
  19. If it quits on you again like that take the gas cap off and see if you can hear air rushing into the tank, that will be a dead give away that the vent is plugged. The vent hole for the tank is visible in the neck of the fuel filler hole, if you take the bezel plate off that holds the speedo you should see a tube exiting the filler neck, that connects to a rubber hose that exits below the motor, You can take some canned air and try blowing air through the hose from the top to the bottom after you take it loose from the metal tube, sometime critters like mud dauber wasps will build nests in the end of that rubber hose. The 98 year model of the Tour Deluxe and the Tour Classic have the ignition switch mounted up front on the frame right behind the radiator they get cooked with all the heat from the radiator are are prone to failure, I had to have the ignition switch on my 98 Tour Classic replaced under warranty, supposedly Yamaha knew about the problem and when the shop replaced them they used a heavier duty switch than the OEM. Mine would some time fail just as you described, before the replacement, never did it again after the replacement and that bike went well over 100,000 miles. Hope this helps
  20. Great to hear you are back on the saddle. I've been riding as well over here since Monday after all the rain over the weekend. As far as your pilot jet issue is concerned, some may say to run seafoam through and hopefully the rough idle 'I assume' will go away. Ride safe.
  21. Ok. Where is the vent? I tried googling and if it's what I think I saw, does mean taking the gas cap apart.
  22. Hi @skydoc_17 I am interested in a set of these for my 2012 RSV when possible & also sent you a message. I see these were listed in 2023, so hopefully you still have some available. Thank you & look forward to hearing back from you!
  23. You have friends??? Still??
  24. You might check the air inlet on the gas cap. Could be creating a vacuum if plugged.
  25. Morning! Got the bike out for an actual ride on Sunday. Only put about 150 miles on, but it sure felt nice. I'm having a pilot jet slightly plugged on one of my cylinders though, so some work will come my way I guess.
  26. Okay, so here I am again with yet another issue on my 98 RSTD. It's running great, but every once in a while it just quits, usually at higher speeds. Sometimes I can kick down a gear and it basically "jump" starts, other times it just quits and I have to pull off the road and try to restart, which it will do...eventually! So has anyone else had this issue? I'm thinking faulty kick stand sensor or even faulty ignition. Thoughts and thanks.
  27. Thank you! I have enjoyed it. Just time to try something else.
